Enjoy the peaceful beauty of the lake and wildlife at The Last Resort Kipling Cottages. The updated fishing cabins provide the comforts of home with some vintage charm. Fun for all ages. We have hosted many multi-generation family gatherings. Fun in the sun with family and friends playing in the lake and end your day gathered around a bonfire. Our guests treasure making memories with their friends and family.

Relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Centrally located In the UP on Lake Michigan (Little Bay de Noc) in Gladstone MI.

Great location for day trips. Your cottage is an hour or less drive to: Manistique, Munising, Marquette, Menominee, Iron Mountain, Fayette, Kitch-iti-kipi, Pictured Rocks, AuTrain, Eben Ice Caves, Hiawatha National Forest, Island Resort & Casino, Peninsula Point Lighthouse, Gladstone Beach, Van Cleve Park, Escanaba Beach, Ludington Park. Numerous golf courses, disc golf courses, hiking and biking trails, breweries, wineries.

Little Bay De Noc is the Walleye fishing capital of the world. Many major fishing tournaments are hosted here. Walleye, Northern Pike, Salmon, Bass, Trout, Perch, and numerous other species.

Excellent fishing location on Little Bay de Noc! Lauch and dock your boat. If you need a fishing guide, let us know and we can refer you to local guides. Fishing charters are available locally or you can fish from your boat or our dock. Launch and dock your boat here. Kayaks, paddle boats, canoe and life jackets provided.

Bait shops and public boat launch are only 1 - 1.3 miles away.

Clean, comfortable and fully furnished. Two queen beds and a sofa sleeper. All bedding and towels are provided. Just bring your food, drinks, and personal items. Call us if you have special needs, we will see what we can do.

There are steps into the cottage. Also, the kitchen and bathroom are small so not wheelchair accessible.

Available year round for fishing. Also kayaking, boating, swimming, ATVing, hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing.

We are pet friendly. Dogs are welcome. We just ask that you clean up after them and don't leave your pets unattended as a courtesy to other guests. Sorry, cannot allow cats or rabbits due to allergies.

PLEASE NOTE: VRBO does not collect the required 6% tax at checkout for our listings. We had to add the tax to the nightly rate. So, 6% of the nightly rate collected goes to pay sales tax.

I stayed with my husband and our two teen kids and we had a great time! The cabin is cozy and warm and the beds were very comfortable. It was a great place to chill by the lake and have a fire at night.

Lovely and cozy cabin with beautiful views of the water, and quiet! Provided lots of ideas to keep people busy, if we had more time there we definitely would have looked through them, no way to get bored there! Only issue was with check in. About a week or so prior, I confirmed with host to check in a few hours early, and received a confirmation message with the door code and time being 1pm. Unfortunately the cleaning crew had just arrived at that time, and we had not been notified of any changes to check in time. We were able to leave cold groceries in the fridge prior to leaving to a get together. Once we got back to the cabin, everything else ran smoothly. Would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was clean, well organized, and the host attentive. The location was the perfect base for our girls trip exploration of the UP. Each morning I was able to walk down to the lake to watch the sunrise. Cabin is small, but the perfect size for my daughters and I.

Perfect cabin for our small family

We had a great time staying here! Check in/out is a breeze. Fully stocked kitchen made it easy to cook meals every day saving us money. Caught bass and pike around the dock. All the neighbors around us were very friendly and we would definitely stay here again! Thank you for your hospitality

We had an amazing experience throughout- from pre-arrival communications to host responsiveness.The location was ideal, though our family found the cottage a bit cozy.It did get a bit warm overnight, which the provided fans helped with. The window AC was doing its best.We appreciated the cleanliness of the stay, as well as the little touches such as sā€™mores ingredients and bug spray in the bathroom.I would highly recommend staying here.

A little unclean. Oven needs cleaning, smoked when used (filled the room). Grill needs cleaning. Bathroom needed a little cleaning when we first arrived. Could not find life jackets. TV in bedroom had trouble sinking with Roku, needed a few tries each time, it did always work eventually. We would love to stay again. Stacy is very nice. She came right over to change battery in smoke alarm when it alerted it was needed.

Reconnect with family

Brought niece and her 2 teens to visit family in Gladstone. 12 yo nephew LOVED fishing!! Everyone went out in kayaks, paddleboat, and played yard games. Exceptionally clean and stocked with what we needed. Reached out to owners for a couple questions and they replied immediately. Definitely recommend this place.

Cute and quiet! Wish there were more outlets or atleast 1 in bathroom. Shower is very small so both people over 6 foot it was a bit hard. Owners were very responsive and friendly!

Very nice cozy cottage! Everything we needed already there for us. Cute decor, thoughtful special touches such as everything we needed to make sā€™mores & a candy dish with candy in it. Perfect little spot

We rented this cabin for a 4 day weekend so we could quickly get to Escanaba for my 7 year old to play hockey. It was perfect for our family of 4. We also thought it would be cool to access Little Bay De Noc easily for ice fishing. It was absolutely perfect for this. We caught walleye and perch just out front on the 2nd reef. We would definitely stay again and will be recommending our friends with small familyā€™s as well.

Midweek Getaway

This is a cute little fishing cabin that served our goal of relaxing and being by the water. We would have liked to have a campfire but it was way too windy and raining at times. So, we spent most of the time inside playing games and watching tv.

Great UP get-away cabin!

Perfect cabin for weekend (or longer) getaway in the UP! Very clean cabin, nicely stocked with kitchen basics. Beautiful location right on Lake Michigan! Very easy to communicate with hosts and they were very quick to respond. Would definitely stay gere again and would recommend to others.

Carl & Stacy are the new owners of The Last Resort Kipling Cottages. We are both from Gladstone. We live in Escanaba. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. We fell in love with The Last Resort when we first saw it. We have renovated all three cottages and have plans to keep improving them as time allows. We are excited to be able to share our little cottages with guests traveling to the Upper Peninsula.

We love the UP. If you have questions about the local area, let us know. We would be happy to help. We want to help make your vacation enjoyable with memories to last a lifetime.

When you arrive, we hope you feel the same "peaceful, easy feeling" we do.

Your interaction with us will be up to you. Door code will be provided so you can check in any time after 3pm on the day of your arrival. We live nearby, so we can assist you via phone, text or stop by in person. Just let us know what you need. Some items are not kept on site because of limited space. If you need a highchair or pack n play, let us know ahead of time so we can have it there for your arrival.
