If you do not fancy hotel castles or all-inclusive hotels and prefer to relax and recuperate from the tourist resorts of Cancun and Playa del Carmen, yes, for the good El Cuyo and the Caribbean feeling something special.
El Cuyo is a small village still spared from mass tourism full of coconut palm trees by the sea in Yucatan. El Cuyo is the only place that is overgrown with palm trees. On all other beaches, the coconut palm palms were eradicated by a plague, and it was no longer reforested. Not so in El Cuyo, here is still a perfect world!
The fully furnished with large beach terrace and many coconut palms surrounded house is ready for you at any time.
You can only book the ground floor with 2 separate bedrooms, plus a living / bedroom, shower room, kitchen for up to 8 people.
The penthouse with one bedroom, plus 1 living / bedroom on the 1st floor for up to 4 persons.
Or the built in rustic Robinson Crusoe Feeling Casa Maya Lodge with large roof terrace, 1 master bedroom and small kitchenette on the 2nd floor for 2 persons.
All the apartment's are completely independent, with separate entrances, beach terraces, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom.
Working in hotels in Cancun, we spend days off in Yucatan to enjoy the fabulous culture of Mexico, the city and mass tourism. One day we accidentally arrived at El Cuyo the driveway was a pinkish-red lagoon with flamingos .. going to the village, .. continuing past a Mayan pyramid on which a lighthouse is built. The streets in El Cuyo are made of sand and everywhere are coconut palm trees and fine white sand beach without the eye. We were delighted, and so every free weekend in El Cuyo, until someone offered us a small house for sale. At that time it consisted of only one ground floor. We immediately fell in love with this 'rough diamond' and renovated it with a lot of passion. We did not even think about renting a holiday home. Then we built the penthouse on the first floor and Casa Maya Lodge on the second floor.
Casa Maya Lodge, Robinson Life
Nestled between the palm trees on the 2nd floor a lodge built in the Maya style typical of the country (26m2 living area) with palm roof shower room, small kitchenette and beach terrace (24m2) 2 people.
We recommend this eagle nest lodge with fabulous sea view and the beach for adventurers and people who appreciate the simple and close to nature.
Activities: Watching flamingos, hiking, biking, diving, fishing, horse riding, sea turtles, dolphins, pelicans, etc., beach walks, collecting shells, building sand castles, Mayan ruins, caves.
Improvements since 2005: 2005 New exterior painting, curtains
2006 New bathrooms with shower and bathtub, new floor
2007 Penthouse was increased, new exterior painting
2008 New curtains, breakfast bar,

I love the country and its people, but their slowness, tardiness and informality in some cases still bothers me, even after 20 years I now live here. You just have to put everything into the balance ... it's a bit hard to explain .... but it's something like if you want a fruit that has no shell or skin, is something ... thats not possible.
I was born and educated in Bamberg, Germany and finished my career there. After that, I went to work for the Mouse in Disney World in Orlando Florida and have worked in the German Pavilion at Epcot , .. followed by 2 years at Lufthansa in Frankfurt. Driven by wanderlust ... I then followed the call Mexico's in 1993.
I lived for 20 years in Cancun, Mexico, ... and still work part time in 5 star hotels. 12 years ago I started with the first Vacation apartment. We now have 7 and also rent you our Vw Beetle to our guests. We are the owners of these houses and can be reached anytime personally, by phone or by email. In the Competition of the Landlord of the Year in 2011, we made the 3 place, and in 2012 we reached the 1st place. It's a lot of fun with guests, and we are always passing along our longtime experience in Mexico . We look forward hosting you ...

In February 2000, we have come by accident to El Cuyo ... the drive threre was overwhelming ... over a reddish pink lagoon with flamingos, the road led to the village .. further to a Mayan pyramid with a lighthouse built on top of it. The roads in El Cuyo are made of sand and coconut palm trees everywhere in the quaint Village. Miles of fine white sand beach with no tourists but lots of seashells.. as far as the eye can see. We were delighted, and then spent every free weekend in El Cuyo. One day, someone offered us a small house for sale. There was at that time only a ground floor. We immediately fell in love with this 'rough diamond' and have restored it with much passion. we didnt think of it as a rental business at that time. After some time, we have added the 2nd floor Penthouse and te Rustic Casa Maya Lodge.
We still spend every free weekend in El Cuyo ... now with our 2 young Kids...
Hacienda Antigua
We acquired it in 2002 and 2012, lovingly converted it to the Hacienda Antigua. Outside walls are handmade of a natural stone facade by Mayan Craftsmanship. Inside a Mayan artist from Izamal Hand-painted colonial decorations on the Walls .Lots of heavy wrought iron was used inside the Hacienda. The Beach terrace covers a big Pyramid shaped palapa , so our guests can always hide in the cooling shade of this palm thatched masterpiece.
