Get close to nature in the heart of Tallahassee. Fall in love with this hidden gem property like our family did! The unique landscape is the star of this VRBO. Our family is continuing the many years that this property has welcomed family getaways, FSU fans, hiking enthusiasts and extended stay workers.

On the North side of Tallahassee, you will be surrounded by forest on the beautiful Canopied Meridian Rd adjacent to Alfred B MaClay State Park and Lake Overstreet Trails.

Enjoy the melody of birds, crickets and cicadas throughout the day and see the deer in the morning and evening from the screened-in porch or open deck. Stroll around the luscious 3-Acre's and help yourself to the many varieties of fruits in season during your stay.

With a central location, you are minutes from the state capital downtown, or an hour from the coast. Visit some of our family favorites: the beach at St. George's Island (1hr. 45min), a hike around the lake of MaClay State Park(5 minute walk - next door!), or spend the day at the boutique shops of Thomasville, GA and hip restaurants (30 minute drive).

The hosts are great, super friendly and helpful. The property is full of fruit trees and lots of space and privacy. Feels like visiting family, which we did while in the area. Also loved the friendly kitty cat.

Maple Cottage

Beautiful Cottage

Maple Cottage is the perfect location for visiting small towns near Tallahassee You will find everything you need at the cottage which is surrounded by fruit trees The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed both the front and back porches Certainly enjoyed meeting the Wallace family including the four legged members of the family If you are looking to relax and unwind this is a perfect place

Cute hideaway in the woods

The manufactured home named "simply magnolia" is dressed up nicely and provided for a comfortable experience. Katie and Matt were wonderful caretakers and made us feel quite welcome during our stay. We didn't get to stay too long, but enjoyed seeing rabbits, cardinals, woodpeckers and more in that short time (really there to see our kids at FSU). Wish we'd had more time to explore all the amazing parks nearby - maybe next time.

We were lucky to get to stay here!

We had such a wonderful stay at this property. It was a little paradise - abundant fruit trees loaded with fruit, live oak trees, flowers, birds, beautiful sunsets and stars at night. The house was just perfect for us and had everything we needed. Loved being able to walk over to the Lake Overstreet trails. It was extra special getting to know Katie, Matt and their precious children. We did not want to leave.

Visiting family

The house was clean, well-supplied, and had a good layout for two adults in one bedroom with a bathroom and a second bedroom for our two granddaughters with a nearby bathroom. The hosts were friendly and got the tv connection up and running for us. We appreciated the peace and quiet of the area and it was a quick 15 minute drive to our children's house. Thank you, Katie and Matt, for sharing your house with us!

Charming! Comfortable! 5 Star worthy!

Diane was a wonderful host! Our trip was out of necessity as we were fleeing from hurricane Irma. Diane met us late in the evening to give us a key, show us the cottage and mostly offered her sweet, calm Southern hospitality ...that helped ease our stress!! The cottage is well equipped with everything one could need for a few nights or months! Clean, clean, clean! Comfortable and Charming and the beautiful landscaped grounds are photo worthy! We WILL return to visit Diane and the charming town of Tallahassee.... next time under better circumstances!

Ideal value!

This was a delightful base for our month long get-away to beautiful Tallahassee. It offered everything as cited in the ad, plus privacy, camelia's, trails, and easy access to everything. We had guests from Germany who were thrilled not to be in a hotel, and the cottage did not feel crowded. Everything we needed was there and in good condition. We hope to return if we haven't found a place to buy. Diane was lovely! She introduced us to loquats and was a wonderdful host. Thank you for a great month!!!!! Annette and Rick

My Little Dream House

This little house was exactly what I needed! When my family visited me one evening for a birthday party, they all said they could see me living in a house/setting just like that. It was perfect for me. I slept better there than I do here at home. I loved everything about it, especially the little gate. I did not mine opening/closing it as I came and went. It was both charming and offered me an extra sense of security. I have this property saved at the top of my favorites. I hope to stay here many times in the future!

pleasant convenient spot

Nice, clean small house, good location. The house is on a busy road but well back from it, so it's not noisy (and it's all fenced, so ok for kids--I think kids would like this place.) Communications with Katie were fine; her family lives on the property, across the field. We found this a good location for us--we were there for kayaking and bird watching. It's easy to get into Tallahassee from here too. The property is contiguous with the state park, so you can go there for a walk. (there are armadillos too, something new for us though annoying to Floridians!) The house is not modern, but it was very comfortable (nice bed!) and we liked the two porches for enjoying the warm spring air. I recommend it!

Fantastic Florida Stay!

Who doesn't like orange trees right outside your house??? Our stay in this home was wonderful for our Thanksgiving stay. The only negative was remembering that we were right next to Maclay Gardens which means critters, and we had a noisy one under the house each evening. My family was able to hike easily each morning and the hosts were generous with the fruit on their trees. Now I can say I have juiced a pomelo!!

Wonderful Hostess

Diane was there to warmly greet us. Perfect for football game weekends. Enjoyed the bonfire, board games and grill two nights. Well appointed with everything we needed. Diane and family were so helpful in sending us a bag we left behind. Wonderful hospitality!

Perfect location for us and very comfortable and peaceful.

I would be glad to have a repeat stay. The location of property was great with walking trails right next door. Close to restaurants and shopping mall but in a very pretty and peaceful location. Property was clean and well equipped with anything you could need

Very Comfortable

Visited friends and family in Tallahassee for the month of March. We were very pleased with the cottage. Semi-rural setting five minute from mid-town. Lots of room for the grand kids to play and explore. Comfy beds. The only minor deficiency was intermittent internet service, but it was manageable. Would definitely stay here again. The owner was most hospitable. Thanks, Diane!

Nice and quiet

The cottage is nice and pretty, and it is in a quiet area. It is clean although aged. It's small but enough space for a family of 4. It's a bit far from downtown (18-30min each way) but work out ok for our trip to attend FSU graduation. Diane is very helpful and communicates well with us. :-)

Great find!

As clean as a whistle, comfy cozy in a lovely wooded setting . . . this house was perfect for my husband & me to share with my sister & her adult son as we gathered for our daughter's wedding. We actually rented all three of the houses on this pastoral, 3-acre property, so that each of our adult children's families had a separate space, but could be together during our family gathering, while also being able to have breakfasts & lunches "at home." My nephew dubbed the properties, "the wedding compound." Each house is separated from the other to give privacy, yet close enough that the kids & adults could mingle as we liked. We were just sorry that the wedding kept us busy enough that we couldn't roast on the fire pit that was on one side of the large property. We would love to stay here again . . . an incredible find!

My husband, kids and I moved to Tallahassee from Nashville, TN. It immediately exceeded our expectations. The small town feel with everything you need 10 or 15 minutes in any direction. A state park for trail runs and bike rides, and a crystal clear ocean less than 2 hours away. Now all we needed was a home to call our own. Little did we know, it would start us on a new adventure.

My family and I didn't specifically set out to become active on VRBO, but when we came across this property, and all it has to offer, we immediately knew that we wanted to be a part of it, and continue the legacy. There is nothing like it in Tallahassee.

A local family in town spent years making this three acre property stunning. The lot is surrounded by gorgeous fruit trees, which if you are lucky enough to taste, you will never want to go back to store bought fruit again. Our farmhouse is on the property alongside the cottage with plenty of breathing room for guests to enjoy. If you are looking for country living (and maybe a trip back to grandmas house) in the heart of a city, you've found it.

You will be in close proximity to everything Tallahassee has to offer. The state capital, museums, parks, FSU Stadium and more. Not only that, but you will wake up with a fresh cup of coffee in hand and look out on a luscious three acre lot surrounded by Magnolia trees, Crepe Myrtles, and a stunning live Oak Tree right out your window.
