Chic Mid Century Bungalow at Famed Ocotillo Lodge

Welcome to Desert Digs, a midcentury escape in the historic Ocotillo Lodge, located in South Palm Springs just minutes from downtown. Built as a luxury hotel in 1956 with renowned architects Dan Palmer and William Krisel, the property was originally designed to attract celebrity clientele, and was a popular destination for Hollywood elite such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball.

The bungalow is located in one of the best locations within the complex - the unit’s wall of windows open to a spacious private patio with direct west mountain views . Relax on the patio while enjoying the sunset, spend the day basking in the sun at the champagne cork shaped heated pool, or enjoy hanging out at the iconic Sunshine Bar (BYOB).


The bungalow was renovated with its midcentury history as inspiration. It features floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, tile floors throughout, sleek and minimalist kitchen cabinets, and a 260 sq foot patio. The condo has a full kitchen (cooktop - FYI no oven!), dishwasher, washer/dryer and BBQ. The bed is King Size and very comfy! The location of the property is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Come and enjoy all that South Palm Springs has to offer!

It was a quiet unit outside the gated pool area and hot tubs which can be loud till midnight when the Canadians are in town.Definitely would rebook.

This is a great rental — cute, clean and a wonderful host. The pool, jacuzzis and grounds at the Ocotillo are amazing and true to its midcentury modern roots. Love the location too, central for everything in the area. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place to stay in Palm Springs. Close to everything, including downtown. Condo is perfect for a couple/two people and has everything you may need. Bed is comfortable and the outdoor patio is awesome with great views. Community pool is large with plenty of chairs and beautiful views of the mountains. Owners were very nice and friendly to communicate with. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

A Little Piece of Paradise

I thoroughly enjoyed this property. It's cozy and comfortable with awesome Palm Springs vibes. The property is spotless and very well equipped.....the owners have thought of everything a person could need! The bed is very comfortable with nice crisp linen. I couldn't ask for better or nicer accomodations.

Cute little getaway

Lovely place, well appointed. It was cute, clean and charming. It had everything you would expect and the property is very quiet. The pool was nice and warm and we loved taking morning strolls around the Twin Palms neighbourhood. The homes were beautiful, the view of the mountains was spectacular. The check in was as easy as it can be in Palm Springs (there are a lot of short term rental restrictions/rules in PS). We loved the location - you are outside the heart of the city, but you get to see some different places and everything is 10 minutes away regardless. We walked to neighbourhood bars and restaurants.

Fabulous clean well located mid-century condo!

We loved this unit at the Ocatillo Lodge. It was spotless, great bed, remodeled kitchen and bathroom with a washer/dryer inside the unit. We especially loved the two bikes that came with the condo! The owner, Kelsey, provided everything we needed and was very responsive. Loved our stay!

We had a great time here. The accommodation was exactly as described and the host was extremely easy to contact with questions. We thought the welcome snacks/coffee was lovely, and the bikes were great to get around the area easily. Highly recommend!

Another great stay

We stayed at this property last year and loved it so much we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Palm Springs. The property is exactly like the photos and is so beautifully decorated. Kelsey is the perfect hostess and provided us with all the information we could want. I would highly recommend Desert Digs to anyone. Wish we could go more often!

Short stay

In between friend groups visiting Palm Springs. I loved using the cruiser bike, walking to Koffi two blocks away and enjoying the lovely pool area. This unit was tastefully decorated with color and all the things I could need for a fabulous stay. Thank you Kelsey and Travis!

Great Place for a Birthday!

This was my present to my husband for his birthday;l and we really enjoyed our time there. We were disappointed that the Art Museum was not open during our visit; but everything else was wonderful.

We very much enjoyed staying at Desert Digs. The owners/hosts went above and beyond providing everything you would need to comfortably be in a home. Easy, excellent communication. MCM decor was fun and bright - the bed super comfy. Downtown and groceries are a short drive. We enjoyed the bikes the hosts provided and rode the city loop one morning - also explored the neighborhood north and south of downtown. Palm Springs is bike lane friendly. We also walked to Native Foods for take out dinner that was vegan delicious! Thank you for a great stay in Palm Springs!

Delightful Bungalow

This little condo is a gem! It is beautifully decorated, well-stocked, very clean, and easy to get to. The bed was very comfortable and the windows let in the best soft, morning light! The space is perfect for couples, and the lodge has the best vacation vibes. Kelsey was so easy to work with and was very responsive when our travel plans went a bit awry due to flight issues. We would love to visit again!

Mid-Century History

The Ocotillo Lodge is pivotal in Palm Springs architectural history. It was great to experience a part of this history during out stay. #359 is wonderfully decorated and equipped for every need. We highly recommend.

Delightful

My husband and I stayed at Desert Digs over the thanksgiving holiday and fully enjoyed it. The place was clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed the heated pool and found lots to do nearby. Highly recommend a stay here!

Cozy, Quiet, Cute

Kelsey’s spot is just as advertised. There’s everything that a person would need and more from the bare necessities to detergent pods for the in-house washer. The location is convenient, minutes from downtown and within walking distance of a coffee shop. We felt very safe both during the day and night. Check-in was fast and easy. Just know that the fitness room is closed for renovations, however the pool and jacuzzi areas were open and easy to access. You won’t be disappointed!

Adorable bungalow!

We had the most amazing week at the charming Desert Digs! Unit was clean, colorful, cool and convenient! All the mid century vibes with a super comfy king bed! We loved being able to park right out the door. Morning walks through Twin Palms and Koffi (steps away) were delightful. We rode the bikes on our last day, so fun! The pool was spotless, quiet and that view of the majestic mountain is seared into our memories! Thanks for sharing your little bungalow in paradise! Hope to return one day!

Perfection

We had the best stay at “Desert Digs”. Everything was beyond our expectation. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We enjoyed the pool and also the cute patio. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I had a fabulous time in Palm Springs staying at Desert Digs. The property was absolutely lovely and in a fantastic location. The condo looks exactly as pictured- which is why I booked it in the first place- retro but very comfortable! We used the bikes every day to ride around the neighborhood and even rode into PS for dinner one night. Will definitely stay again.

Wonderful condo and lication

Condo has great decor, super clean and has everything you need. Hosts have thought about every detail. Beautiful grounds, fantastic pool, hot tubs and excellent location. Kelsey was great and went out of her way to make sure we had a fantastic stay. Would definitely return!

Awesome property and accommodations. I bc am used to paying twice the daily rate for similar lodging in Palm Springs. Plus, the property is truly representative of mid-century living in the desert. I will definitely book a stay here again.

The Perfect Desert Getaway

We had the most relaxing stay here at The Desert Digs! Beautifully decorated chic mid century modern, conveniently located down the road from Downtown PS, easy access to the pool, loved hanging out on the cute patio at night and Kelsey was so accommodating & easy to reach whenever I had any questions regarding the property or any local recommendations. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends!
