The Magic Kingdom in Kerry

What a house and location, far surpassed everything we had hoped and dreamed that it would be, "Heaven on the Waterside" doesn't do it justice; many many thanks to you Shirley, and your team from all of us, both adults and kids. The adults felt like kids and everybody is still talking about the place, the real "Magic Kingdom", depressed we had to leave but we'll be better prepared next time, just keep the coffee brewing. Majestic. Stunning views, Beautiful house, Located strategically perfect

This property was perfect for my family and for our to visit Kerry and the whole South-West region of Ireland, simply idyllic. Located strategically perfect on Irelands magnificent "Wild Atlantic Way" it was a great jumping off point for every place we wanted to get to, and the views were stunning, just magnificent. Everything about this house is majestic, modern, spacious, comfortable. Could not have been better and we could not have wished for anything more. Shirley was more than accommodating, even providing us with some fab recommendations. Thank you for your hospitality. Would very definitely highly recommend and we do hope to visit again! Paradise as you dream it

There is a certain anxious quality to selecting a place on line and parting with one's money before ever seeing the place or meeting the owners. One worries that the pictures posted are the best possible and the the place cannot live up to them. I am pleased to tell you that the pictures do not do the beauty of the house or the location justice. Chris and Shirley, during trying times, could not have been more helpful or kind. We were a group of 10 and the place was perfect for us. It is a great location to tour southwest Ireland and a great place just to spend time together. I cannot recomment it more highly.

Best place ever!

My siblings and their now adult children have been getting together in the US each summer for many years. This year we decided to go International, and could not have been happier. The house had plenty of room for all 17 of us, and the views of the ocean from inside the house are just incredible! Queen, modern, and very comfortable beds. Town of Ballyheigue is very quaint and authentic Irish, with a surprising amount of activity going on, at least during their summer festival week, which is when we were there. As a homebase for seeing the southwest of Ireland, this is also a great place for a large group. Thank you Shirley for sharing your amazing the house with us! The Cunniff family

Mind blown

This place is fab, I don't do reviews but feel strongly that this should be said, this was the most amazing vacation destination, we could not have picked a better place for our Family gathering, delicious. Whenever I read reviews saying 'how fantastic' a place is I assume its exaggerated but this place can't be hyped enough. I will be telling everyone that will listen...(or perhaps I should be keeping it quiet) just how unbelievable this house, its setting and the whole area is. I could go on and on, a huge HUGE thanks to Shirley for all she did for us- really mind blown by the whole trip, the house, and the hospitality! Pat McCarthy and Tribe California and Washington USA.

Wonderful Christmas Family reunion in Ireland. This property is amazing.

I am compelled to share with others just how perfect this property really is for a for family reunion destination! We were able to share this amazing property with my family for 7 days over Christmas, most beautiful. We searched many Irish properties and dozens of venues before deciding on this home and we could not be happier with our decision. I am not sure I could have found a more perfectly located, relaxing and stunning spot. The owner, Shirley, was most kind and attentive, and took great care of any and all of our needs. The most amazing sea views with incredible mountain backdrop, and plenty of landscaped space provided the perfect setting for the making of some amazing memories. This home is simply fantastic! 2nd wonderful trip for our 18!

My family visited this beautiful home and region 4 years ago during Summer and had a wonderful time, so we planned and executed a Christmas trip to Ireland. Great decision, we had the most magical wonderful time. Having added a few more Grandkids, since 2015, we all loved every minute of it. We couldn't pull ourselves away from the property. This is a beautiful home. Great for family and friends to gather during any season and enjoy the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, incredible vistas over the water and snow capped mountains. All in all, the trip was first class and definitely something we would want to do again. I would highly recommend this home for large and/or extended family vacations. We will be returning in the near future for sure, for our 3rd wonderful experience in our favorite vacation spot! I would confidently recommend this house to my friends and would certainly go back. A BLAST!!

Hey Shirley! WE HAD A BLAST!! The location, the atmosphere, everything we could have thought of needing right there at our finger tips! We will NOT need to look past your contact information to know where we want to stay this Summer!! We walked to nearly everything we wanted to go to, no need for a cab or a car (although on one night of pure indulgence, we did get a drive back from Mike, the owner of Kirby's bar, way too much to drink that night!!). We did spend a few days ( and nights ) at the various nearby hotspots.... great fun. I could go on and on but, let me finish this by saying that you can give my contact information to anyone you’d like if you need verification of anything about your house! I will gladly spread the word to anyone I hear mention that they may be thinking of coming to Ireland. Can’t wait to get back there, thanks for a great experience Shirley! Wonderful

Having visited our Ancestral homeland countless times over a 50 year period since Childhood with my Parents, my own Children, now their Children and my Grandchildren along with our extended Family, and over these years having had beautiful experiences with many golden memories, it is accurate and fair to say that in describing this house its setting, location and our recent, too short vacation there, that it has been the highlight in all our years of visiting Ireland, I am truly (and unusually) lost for words, the saying is that "The lily cannot be gilded" , and right now, after much deliberation the best I can do in describing this house and our stay at it, is,` ...Wonderful... We are thankful to have found this priceless treasure and for this unforgettable experience, I only wish that I had found its like earlier, my "kids" and Grandchildren have not stopped talking about it, and I think I know now exactly where and for how long their next visit "home" will be. Perfect spot for our vacation! Perfect house for Extended Family!

Lovely modern property. There were 15 of us in total and we had a fabulous time. We were met upon our arrival by Shirley who welcomed us 'home' and showed us around the house & its fabulous amenities, she was very helpful and informative at all times, before we booked while we were planning our trip and especially so after we had arrived, thank you. The house is in a lovely and peaceful area right on the side of the sea where the waves of the Atlantic crashed and the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, looking out over the bay & the most beautiful mountain range. The town of Ballyheigue is only 2 minutes away and provided excellent food, pubs and entertainment. The accommodation was fantastic with huge room and luxurious living spaces, great facilities and perfectly located to provide tranquility but within real easy, quick reach of all of the main tourist areas. We were very lucky with the weather which was beautiful for the whole week, we all enjoyed one of the most memorable vacations we've ever had, and we met and enjoyed the company of some of the most beautiful, kind, welcoming and funny people, in fantastic accommodation in a wonderful part of Ireland. Best House ever!!! Great for 12 guys on a golf trip.

The house is absolutely amazing!! Directly on the Ocean with the best views. The house has tons of privacy in the back yard you only have a neighbor on one side. Everything in the house was top notch. TV with a ton of channels we were even able to watch a couple NFL games. Plenty of room. All 12 guys had their own bed. The hottub with ocean views was great. Plenty of space for everyone to lounge around. The house is centrally located to play all the great Southwest Ireland courses. We played Doonbeg, Lahinch, Tralee, Old Head, Ballybunion, and Waterville. Best part we got to play all these courses and never had to pack up once. Shirley and here daughters were The most accommodating host I have ever seen. They even grocery shopped for us. The pubs and the stores in ballyheigue are about a 5 minute walk so is the castle golf course. Which was a fun 9 hole course. If you have a big group of people you will not find a better location in southwest ireland our whole group loved the location and lodging. Sincerely, Mark from Minnesota

Unforgettable location and enchanting setting

This was our first time Ireland and we were celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. We could not have been more happy with this home. It was awesome, beautifully decorated, the rooms and beds were extremely comfortable and generous in size, the house was huge and very spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. There were 16 of us staying in the house and we all agreed that we loved the property, would highly recommend it and would love to return. The views over the sea and mountains were out of this World indescribable. The owner and maintenance staff were available as soon as you contacted them with any concerns. I was very sceptical with the whole process being my first time and I was very happy we chose this property, it has to be one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. My husband and I both work for the airlines and have done a lot of traveling and stayed in many places but this property felt like Home thank you for a memorable stay! This whole vacation was wonderful, this house, its unforgettable location and enchanting setting, and this entire region of this magnificent country along with it's warm and friendly people made this trip outstanding as probably one of our most memorable ever. Couldn't be better

There aren't words for the incredible experience we had here in this wild and beautiful region of Ireland. This happens to be the area from where my ancestors originated, including my famous ( or infamous ) cousin Jesse. There are many Family cousins living in this area and we even found and visited the church where the James clan, to this day, still have a special remembrance mass said for Jesse and the extended James Family once a year every year since the late 1800's, yes, mind blowing awesome, I feel as though I could and possibly should write a book on the experience. This house and its location....IS... a destination in itself. The view from every part of its interior, and from its gardens and terraces, over the ocean and mountains, is spectacular, to say the least. The house itself is magnificent, spacious and comfortable, it is in reality, far better, than described on the website. There were seven adults and seven children, and we had plenty of room. We cooked most of our meals in, and the kitchen was a dream. We do intend to go back to Ireland, and when we do, it will be here that we will come to, to choose another destination over this just would not make sense, this place felt like coming home, perhaps it will be here that I might start the book. Humbled

Friends of ours had stayed in this property the year before but had made the reservation and booking through a travel agent. They having met the owners, they passed the details directly to us, so we booked directly with the owner this year. We were not disappointed, the property itself is just outstandingly beautiful, if that adequately describes the house, and I'm not sure it does, the location of this property will leave you speechless. Yep, that's not an exaggeration. Upon our arrival at the house, each of us dropped our luggage and went to the deck. The views were indescribable, it left each of the 16 of us, just standing there, in silence, awed, I know that some eyes were less than dry. What can I say, this vacation was great and we all thoroughly enjoyed this awesome house and its spectacular location. We are very grateful, and humbled by the experience, Ireland was all, and more than we had dared to expect, and proud to say it. Thanks Shirley we won't forget your kindness, nor the help you gave us with everything from start to finish, much appreciated it meant a lot. This is one I would recommend to anyone. Close to Heaven

We spent 2 amazing weeks here, paradise. We all fell love with this whole area and the house and location was absolutely fabulous, central to everything and close to everywhere you might need to visit within this wonderful county Kerry on the "Wild Atalantic Way", including Killarney, Dingle, Tralee, Kenmare, and all of islands off of the coast, including Skellig Michael where the latest Star Wars movies continue to be shot, we visited all of these places,something else. We couldn´t have asked for more with the house. Great floorplan, incredible sea and mountain views from pretty much every single room, huge deck overlooking the sea, excellent for watching astonishing sunsets, walk to the beach at the end of the garden.This house offered everything we needed – more than enough room for 14 of us, very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, super clean and pristine inside&out, very fast & reliable wi-fi indoor&outdoor, huge gardens overlooking the beach and Mountains, in total privacy, great location, we had 5 rental cars, lots of car space we could have parked 10 more, short easy walk to some great bars and restaurants, proved very convenient. Amazing service from the owner. We´ll be definitely coming back very soon. Thank you for having us! Simply the Best !!!!!!!!!!

Ireland !!!... As only imagined thru our Grandparents stories since childhood, in all its magic, mystic magnificence, spell-binding, awe insiring, and jaw droppingly beautiful in all its splendidness.... thats just the drive from the airport. Yeah... you might have guessed we loved it... As for the location and setting of this house, despite friends recommendations, other referals and the website description, we were not prepared to be as mentally stunned.... entranced...., or as they say just north of the border....enchanté. We won't forget the mental image of this place, and consider ourselves fortunate to have experienced it, if we don't have the privilege of returning, it will be called to mind often. The house itself is the ultimate in tastefully furnished, spacious luxury, with every conceivable amenity and comfort, and the owners and staff were a delight, always just a phone call away and always ready to assist or give advice on any request or query, great job guys! absolutely magnificent

My husband and I rented this home for us to host 18 members of our family while traveling to Ireland and County Kerry for the week of which our son's wedding was taking place at Fossa church in nearby Killarney. This beautiful waterside home is set on the West coast of Irelands beautiful "Wild Atlantic Way", absolutely magnificent home in all aspects, accommodating, tastefully appointed and completely outfitted in all aspects. We did not lack for a single item. While there we hosted a cocktail party for the New England travelers to the wedding and we were all so extremely pleased with the oceanside gardens, the sheer space of the floor plan, its accommodating amenities and idyllic setting. We watched the sunset almost every evening from the beautiful terraces which offered hypnotic, incredibly beautiful and unobstructed ocean and mountain views, private access to the beach allowed that ocean interaction and both adults and kids swam in the Atlantic at the gardens edge, every day while we were there. We could not have loved this place more nor asked for anything more!. Every bedroom is well thought out and the bedding is top notch. There is only one regret, we should have taken it for 2 weeks! We hope to enjoy this wonderful home again very soon when we return to Ireland and the beautiful County Kerry with our extended Family, we are so looking forward to our next stay. Kind thanks to the owner for being so helpful, friendly and accommodating to us all. Your arrangements were fantastic and we owe you a debt of gratitude, sincerely. Unforgettable 40th anniversary...

First time in Ireland and we loved it, beaches, monuments, walks, Guinness and the warm friendly welcome from all of the locals. This wonderful, perfectly laid out, luxury house is situated in a fantastic location, surrounded by the sea and lush green fields, mountain peaks and vast blue sky. When people speak of their dream of Ireland, this is it....on steroids. A wonderful choice for a family reunion, in our case an anniversary setting with our adult Children and Grand kids. The property is located right on the waters edge along side beautiful sandswept beaches, and many other points of local interest, the grounds are beautifully kept and the proximity to, and views of the sea, Kerry mountains and the Dingle peninsula to the South are totally awesome, spectacular beyond belief, huge gardens with lovely walks right at hand. We went for walks along the famous Atlantic way, we played golf in some of the Worlds most famous courses, we swam in the sea. Sometimes we just sat by the waterside and did nothing at all. This would be a great place for groups of couples wanting to get away from it all. It would also appeal to families as there is so much to do, whatever your age or your interests. Golfing, Surfing, Riding, Fishing, or Touring ... enjoying superb Irish food and the World famous reknowned Irish hospitality … the list goes on, we did it all. The house itself is very very comfortable, real luxury, with large open spaces and of course, from everywhere within, the most beautiful views over the sea ringed with Mountains, we all had a most wonderful vacation and have all agreed, unanimously, that we will return here in the not too distant future. A truly memorable holiday

Dear Chris & Shirley We, the Curtin Family & Friends would like to thank you both for your hospitality and for all of your help in making our stay at your home so memorable, enjoyable and such a success. Many Thanks also from all of us, to Sean and Beth for their wonderful cooking and beautiful meals along with their great sense of fun, we do appreciate Beth's recipe's, but unfortunately, despite spirited efforts, have yet to adequately recreate her mouth watering lobster bisque, as we have already informed both Her and Sean, please let us know should they ever decide to come Stateside and we will have the ingredients pre-ordered, ready and waiting (should fresh Maine Lobster be sufficient). Needless to say it could not have happened had we not been in such beautiful surroundings in both home and location, we cannot compliment you highly enough on the quality of your home, and as for its location, suffice to say that as you admit yourselves, you have been Blessed, there really is no place in the World quite like it, and really, no website or description could possibly do it justice. There is no question that we will come back to this little piece of Paradise, and have as a Family committed ourselves to having future re-unions together in Ireland, at least bi-yearly. We cannot compliment or recommend this house, its location, owners, staff and the services it provides more highly. Maximum stars plus some. Thank you all. An awesome spectacular stay

When reserving this house, we did not REALLY expect everything to be as described, and it would have been awesome if the house and its location turned out to be only half as good as the website blurb implied. We were stoked to find that this house far surpasses its description and the photographs do not, and could not do the place full justice. Whereas the house and its amenities are sumptuous, delightful and quite the essence of luxury. The location is such that we would have been more than happy & excited to "camp out" in its grounds in our swags if we had them!! Our group itinerary was to travel and sight-see, but on arrival it immediately became obvious to all 14 of us that leaving this house and the sheer beauty that surrounds it, would be a shame. The setting is awe-inspiring, and will take a wordsmith of higher calibre than me to describe. Heed the warning on the website, you may not want to leave. This house ticks all the boxes and much much more spectacular than we could have ever dreamed of. The owner, Shirley, could not have been more hospitable in every way and she spent time with us on arrival to show us around and give us some tips on the awesome attractions in the area. We were made very much at home here by the owner, and the views from the house were even more beautiful than our own Perth coastlines. Didn't think that was possible. All things combined, our stay at this house was marvelous. I would not hesitate to return and will be happy to recommend this house to everyone I know, as will every member of our group. Fair dinkum Kerry!! . Top marks from your new Perth fans. A 5 star rating is not enough, a 10 star rating was our general consensus. Cheers mates

Love this place, just love it.

We can't get enough of this amazing property. Love this place, just love it, space for everybody to spread out and not be on top of each other. Third year we've done our company leadership planning here and it was perfect for the 3 different groups, 45 people in total rotating arrivals through 21 days. The house is an ideal venue for large groups. The property is so relaxing and accommodating that it allows for our different teams to devote the proper attention needed to have the most creative, focused, well planned meetings, that we have ever had! Our teams are now more aligned, cohesive, fully re-charged and more excited than ever to tackle the priorities we've set for the new year. The entire property is first class and has all the amenities of a five star property. The home is so well supplied with facilities and activities that we hardly left the property. There are so many different areas inside and outside the house to work, meet, relax, hang out and have a fun time as a group. The team running the house was sublime, superb and made sure our every need was met in a quietly efficient way. Everything you need is there and if you do need anything, Shirley the owner and her management team, Paul & Daniel were there to take care of it. Shirley is a great ambassador, and total rock star, and with a little help from her team, they make sure the experience is one of a lifetime. A huge thanks to them for making our visits exceptional. Not a thing was missed. Service was outstanding. Beautiful vistas & superb scenery, we all worked ( didn't seem like work ), relaxed, chilled and slept like babies. What more can I say - nothing! Magical

Being the pessimist that I am, when we made our reservation for this house, I did not expect almost anything to live up to the actual on-line description, so, we were resigned to finding this house not quite as good as described. We were wrong, totally blown away to find that it exceeds its description and the photos do not not in any way capture the reality or do the setting real justice. Whereas the house and its amenities are excellent. The location is just priceless! We had planned to travel the South West of Ireland and sight-see, but when we arrived and saw the place became clear that leaving it would be an effort, which most days it was, coming back to it was in all of our thoughts while we were away on any day. The setting is jaw dropping, and exceptionally hard to put into words. Heed the warning on the website, "you may not want to leave". This house is better than a class act, it's the real deal and much better than we would have hoped for. The owner, Shirley, is very accommodating, helpful and kind in every respect and obliged us with much of her time before and on arrival, to help with our itinerary and gave us some valuable info on all of the best places that were a must see in the region, along with tips on where it wasn't worth the time or effort. We were made very much at home here by the owner, and the views from the house were more beautiful than we dared imagine, thanks too for the fabulous Christmas trees and holiday decorations, they helped create a great festive spirit . All things considered, our time at this house was unforgettable and each and every one of our group agreed, we all hope to come back one day. I will be happy to recommend this house and this region of Ireland to everyone I know, as will every member of our group, Ireland really is magical. A 5 star plus rating is not fair for this house, if a higher rating was available we would, unanimously, be happy to give it. Barry Sutherland Philadelphia PA

Heaven on the Sea

During mid-August, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary in Ireland with our children and grandchildren -- 13 in all. The villa was perfect and easily accommodated eight adults and five children, ages 7 to 13. The children had the upstairs to themselves. The villa is open and specious and extremely well equipped with every feature and gadget. Having two large living areas, the kids and adults could have a good time without interfering with each other. An adult could always find a quiet space when needed. The interior is larger than pictured; indeed, the pictures on the internet do not do it justice. The children played soccer in the large fenced-in backyard and enjoyed exploring the rocks on the sea. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, especially with the full moon as we overlooked the sea. Jer and Shirley were helpful and available when needed. The villa is an easy five minute walk into town for dinner at one of three pups or to pick up extra groceries or wine. We particularly enjoyed drinks (no dinner) at The Castle Pub, operated by Ms. Kathy O'Sullivan, which is at the entrance to the town of Ballyheigue. Kathy even taught me how to pour a Guinness. The patrons were friendly, so much so that a fellow patron overheard our need for rosemary for our lamb dinner, and quietly secured some for us from his nearby garden. In order to avoid driving on the narrow roads, we desired a van to take us around as we toured all of southwest Ireland. Shirley highly recommended Paudie at Collins Bus Hire (one of the best decisions we made as we traveled most days). Paudie provided a van for 18 operated by Donal who picked us up at Shannon Airport. Donal was absolutely wonderful. He was safe and dependable and knew the area like the back of his hand, from the Cliffs of Moher (on our arrival day which Shirley recommended) to the tip of the Dingle Peninsular. He guided us through the countryside with ease and with a story on every turn in the road. Overall, we had a most delightful holiday exploring southwest Ireland and making friendshios with the residents. Shirley with her recommendations and her villa were perfect for enjoying every moment of our vacation. It could not not have been better. Carol

Fantastic

I don’t usually write reviews so this is a first. This property was more than expected. We had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent home for 2 weeks and we just hated to leave. The house was fantastic for our needs. The location of the house, and the panoramic sea and mountain views, is....staggering. The pictures did not lie and in fact did not do the house and its location justice, just one thing, I would highly recommend that more pictures are added. We were 18 adults, to full capacity but never felt like we were on top of each other. The kitchen was stocked extremely well with everything you need to cook a good meal. The beds are extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. The house is superbly well equipped with all of the amenities that we could have wished for. Our group particularly appreciated how close the house was to the beach and that we were able to access the beach via a private walkway that did not require us to cross any roads, we were very fortunate with the weather we experienced as it simply could not have been better. We also appreciated the different bedding options available to us, and the several separate living areas with large flat screens. This allowed the early risers in our group to congregate downstairs without disturbing the people sleeping on the lower or upper floors. We also found that the house was located in an extremely convenient and beautiful location, within walking distance of everything required. The house was also convenient to various dining options. The owner of the house was also great, very responsive to all of our questions prior to and during the trip. We highly recommend this beach rental for anyone looking for a great beach vacation, for touring all of this beautiful region or just spending quality time together, with all the amenities and a fantastic location, in fact I would recommend this house in an instant.
