The sunrise will take your breath away each morning as you rock on the large front porch with a steaming cup of apple cider or coffee. Rocking chairs are waiting for you and your family to enjoy breathtaking views of towering Grant Mountain located in the clouds on phenomenal Mt. Bearwallow. Meadows roll gently down to nestle at the base of mighty Mount Pisgah framing a snapshot of grazing horses next to a postcard perfect pond. Only 20 minutes to Asheville & Hendersonville. Only 10 minutes to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure.

Kids can roll up their pants and enjoy catching crawfish and other oddities while discovering the magical world of nature. Grab a basket and spend the afternoon filling it with wild blackberries for a pie to go along with fresh mountain cabbage, apples, Amish butter and cheese, homemade jams, jellies and scrumptious baked goods found at the local farmers markets. Although we are located at a high elevation, take Fido, the kids and your walking stick and hike even farther up our mountain road and enjoy a picnic and the ever changing scenery of autumn leaves or spring flowers. In the fall, there is no need to run the air conditioning since the breezes are always cool, so snuggle under a cozy blanket and sleep to the serenade of the creek running down the mighty mountain and the echoes of a thunderstorm rolling in from over the gorge.

Explore the Biltmore House and shop in the Village, but don't forget to take the kids and pan for gold, enjoy wonderful barbeque, homemade ice cream and all the unique shops (as well as drive to the of Chimney Rock! Whether its beautiful waterfalls or hiking, biking, boating, golfing, shopping or swimming, we know that you'll agree that it is definitely God's country and we welcome you to be our guest.

Great Stay Close to Asheville with Furry Friends

House was exactly what we were looking for secluded but still close to Asheville and welcoming of dogs. House worked well for us.

We loved our stay here! The house was clean and spacious. The surrounding area is beautiful with many wonderful hikes! Close to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Asheville too! Our family had a wonderful time!

Our stay was the best vacation we have had in a long time! Very dog friendly! Every bedroom was comfortable and beautiful. The home is secluded but also we felt safe as there are homes nearby. We mostly enjoyed the porch as we rocked away while reading and looking at the mountain. We cooked a few times and went out to eat at The Local Joint. It was delicious! We rook our dog up the Bearwallow Mtn trail and had a picnic at the top. Our hosts were veey accomodating and available. We hope to return next year.

Remote Mountain Home

Great place to vacation! Cabin was clean and spacious! The owner texted to wnsure our safe arrival and check on our needs. The deiveway was a bit rough, but we managed fine. Lots to do and see!

Charming home.

The house is very charming and a real home. Everything needed is there- in the kitchen, bedrooms etc; there’s even a wide variety of board games. It’s a treat to enjoy the tranquility and the view outside, plus the delightful rocking chairs. The hosts are very gracious, easy to talk to and we are grateful for a wonderful stay. We hope we can visit again!

JUST PERFECT

What a great home to get away from it all, yet remain close to everything you need. The home was quiet, clean, roomy, and well stocked. Asheville, Biltmore House, Hendersonville, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure we’re short excursions from the location. The Owners were great to communicate with and quick to reply to our questions. This was our first VRBO rental and because of this experience, we will definitely be using the service in the future. GO NOLES!

Nice getaway

The home was cozy and as one other guest said, it is like staying at grandma's house. We specifically came for views of the mountain, but due to the time of season we came, our views were obstructed by the trees. Partly my fault for not realizing that, but would like to have seen "seasonal views," in the description. Loved, loved the creek beside it and the sound of that water. If we had had views, it would have been spectacular.

Wonderful house, wonderful location, WONDERFUL hosts!!

Wonderful house, wonderful location, wonderful hosts! I just concluded a weeklong stay at Motts Mountain Laurel And I couldn’t be more pleased. In these days of COVID-19, the cleanliness and freshness of the house was very much appreciated. But most important to me was how homey and warm and comfortable the house is. The setting and the view are beautiful… Gorgeous Mountain View, great wildlife (many roaming wild turkeys, many bunny rabbits, hummingbirds at the deck, and one bear). Gerton is a really good “hub” for everything I go to western NC for! Thank you Todd and Hillary!

Perfect family getaway location.

Loved our stay in this beautiful mountain cabin. We are a family of 5 and everyone was very comfortable. Evenings are beautiful and cool on the porch. We loved the privacy, and the Mountain View’s. Listening to the brook stream was extra special. This cabin is dog friendly and we absolutely loved being able to bring our fur baby. The owner is incredibly responsive and genuinely cares about her guests having a positive experience. We had an issue with our pup while away and she was able to steer us to a local vet. Additionally, She texted Us to check on how he was feeling. Lovely visit all around. We would stay again and we highly recommend this property!

Nice cabin

Rustic appeal and everything you needed at great price. We have stayed in this area before and it was nice to stay closer to Asheville so we could make some excursions there in about 30 min. Owners were easy to work with. Only con was website stated it slept 10, but really only 8. There was no sleeper sofa and the 2 queen beds seemed like full sized with the room they were in felt like the floor was caving in. So it felt like you were rolling to to the middle of the room while you were sleeping.

Great quiet getaway in a convenient mountain location!

We enjoyed our stay at Mott's Mountain Laurel. It was well equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen had plenty of cooking utensils, and there was plenty of space for our group. It was charming and reminded me of staying at someone's grandmother's house. There were family pictures on the wall and plenty of seating area.

Spacious, yet very cozy!

Spacious, yet very cozy! This was my second stay at this home, for good reason, it is very comfortable and cozy and well supplied. Also the location is fantastic with a beautiful mountain view and convenient to Asheville and Hendersonville. Hillary is a great host!

A Beautiful Retreat

What a beautiful weekend we had! This mountain retreat was just what our family needed to reconnect, with plenty of space for napping, and mealtimes and games around the table. This is truly an old family home: warm, comfortable, inviting, and the view from the porch is impossible to capture with a camera! The hostess was available and easy to communicate with—we wanted to add our photos to her picture wall! We never took advantage of nearby restaurants or shops—we just stayed “home” and enjoyed the peace and natural setting, although the young adults did have fun mining for gems. We loved every minute of our stay here, and really enjoyed our surprise “welcome” gift! Thank you, Hillary, for sharing this treasure with us! It’s at the top of our “favorites” list!

Lovely house

Our family stayed 4 nights and we loved it. Very clean, great location, comfortable, and we felt that the Mott’s family not only shared their home but also their memories. We have never stayed in a VRBO that was so well equipped, they thought about every single detail, the house had pet supplies, including pet food, treats, toys, plenty of cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towel, towels, ziplock bags, all kitchen utensils that you could think of. We were welcomed with a s’mores kit, a soap/toothpaste/toothbrush/shampoo/conditioner/razor and shaving cream basket, and tasty wine.

Fabulous mountain holiday retreat

The property was very well maintained, super cozy and if you like to cook has all the supplies you need. The area is stunning. The host was communicative as soon as the property was booked and sent helpful information ahead of time for us to help plan the stay and then to ensure we made it there safely, as well as a generous welcome gift! The mini van struggled to make it up the driveway so just be careful. The only item missing from the online pictures was the telescope, sadly was not there; but the big green egg was an amazing touch for our turkey! Super comfy beds which honestly is one of the things that sold me in the reviews, as so many rentals have great amenities with terrible mattresses. Not the case here, you will sleep great!! We also loved the history displayed and the antique items throughout. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend.

A real charm and perfectly comfy

We stayed 4 nights. Everything was perfect! Covered porch with rocking chairs, stone fireplace, kitchen is more than fully equipped. Rustic location in the trees, a short walk to a path along the creek. This was an excellent choice for our family time.

Great Location, many amenities

Everything you need for your stay, and the perfect location! The views from the porch were awesome as we used the Big Green Egg to grill. Just 8 miles to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Would definitely stay here again.

Great stay!

Great house, very clean and organized with everything one could need. Well stocked. Good communication with owners. Lovely area with lots of nature and enjoyed chasing fireflies and making bonfires. Internet was spotty. We mostly used our att hot spot and Verizon lte both worked fine in the house & area. Also we appreciated the wine and s’mores kit upon arrival! Nice touch! :) would def stay again! Thx u!

Wonderful Mountain Home

The location was awesome, a short drive to everything that we wanted to do. The home was comfortable, I loved the the porch with the rocking chairs, very peaceful. My kids loved exploring and overall we had a great time. Hillary, the host, was very thoughtful and always available. We would definitely visit again. Go FSU!!

Tranquil and peaceful location

This beautiful property has satellite t.v. and WiFi but we barely used them. We enjoyed the front porch with a beautiful Mountain View. There’s a wonderful mountain stream running along side the house where the kids explored and played. It’s a great location that’s close to the Biltmore estate as well as Chimney Rock State park. We really enjoyed the house, the area, and the peace. We spent evenings around the fire pit making hotdogs and s’mores. The host provides tons of games for game night. We honestly didn’t want to leave.

This home has been in our family since the 1970's but it was constructed in the 20's. We completely renovated it in 2001 but have never rented it out. Unfortunately, our family has become smaller, the children have grown and we now have very little time to enjoy it. We hope other folks will love it as we do and make fond vacation memories. Mott's Mountain Laurel is dedicated in memory of the most wonderful wife, mother and Meme.

Conveniently located between Asheville and Hendersonville, our home is also just a short drive from shopping, entertainment and many natural wonders. We can't wait for you to enjoy the quaint shops of Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and the beach and restaurants of Lake Lure!!
