Wonderful location for walking to major sites on the Left Bank (e.g. Luxembourg Gardens, Odéon, Panthéon) and on the Right Bank (Louvre, Tuileries, Comédie Française). Proximity to the Pont Neuf also makes Notre Dame very easy to reach on foot. Though the host's arrival instructions seemed a little complicated to us at first, they proved to be very easy to follow. We had no trouble accessing the beautifully renovated flat. Since the two-story space is situated deep within the historic building, it is very quiet and sheltered from the busy traffic along the Quai des Grands-Augustins. The elevator was a welcome sight when we arrived with our suitcases. As a retiree in my early seventies, I was worried at first that the steps leading up to the low-ceilinged bedroom would be hard for me to manage. But the ladder-like steps were very solid and easy to ascend and descend. It was actually quite fun sleeping in the loft under the wooden beams. The high window in the living room brought in lots of light and made the compact space seem much larger than it actually is. Excellent shower with good pressure. Though the kitchen is small, it is equipped with everything one might need to make a hearty meal. We did a bit of cooking, but mostly we dined out in nearby restaurants--including the world-famous café Le Procope. After a busy day of sight-seeing and shopping, we loved coming back to the flat. It was a relaxing haven for us during our three-night stay.
