Centrally located in the town of Girdwood at the base of Max's mountain on a quiet, dead end road. Local grocery store, restaurants/bars and ski slope within one mile of chalet.

In this peaceful neighborhood, you will find the perfect base camp for your Alaskan adventure. The Hinterland Chalet is designed to provide you with a cozy stay in Girdwood with full kitchen and sleeping amenities. This timber frame chalet boasts beautiful redwood siding. Built by climbers in 1983, the recycled redwood came from Anchorage's original REI store.

On the main floor, the kitchen and living area are surrounded by windows. The kitchen and bath have just been remodeled with new floors and counter tops. The floors are radiant heated for toasty toes no matter what the temperature outside. The bedroom on the main floor has a full sized bed and closet. The loft hosts a queen sized log frame bed where the moon shines bright on clear nights. This is the master bedroom of the house with a full closet. Up the ladder you can escape to the tree room for reading, relaxing, or gazing out through the forest. Complimentary coffee is provided for your enjoyment.

The large deck with seating in front is perfect for relaxing after a hike, or, if you love a bonfire, warm up by the fire bowl. This 1,000 square foot chalet is well suited for families and friends in groups up to four people.

One of the best cabins we have stayed at. Ideally located and everything was perfect. Upstairs bed was very comfortable and the shower was superb. Very calm and peaceful.

We had a lovely time at this charming cabin nestled on the hillside in the woods. Nicely appointed and decorated, comfortable. Kathy texted us to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. We highly recommend taking the tram up to the Alyeska resort for an amazing view of Turnagain Arm!

We didn't want to leave! This chalet was perfect and a great location in Girdwood. Space to spread out as a family but still have common areas to join. I loved the "treehouse" nook upstairs. Communication with the host was excellent, and the beds were the most comfortable of our whole trip.

Beautiful getaway cabin

We spent our honeymoon exploring north of Anchorage and south to Seward so Kathy’s place was a perfect home base for us. We didn’t do much besides sleep there but it was great. Clean, quiet, tucked away yet close to town. Kathy was very hospitable and we enjoyed our stay.

Great place in Girdwood!

Great host, amazing location and beautiful home. Very clean, had what we needed and place was just perfect!!! Will be returning to Girdwood in March of next year and will stay here again. If you stay here be mindful and keep the place clean.

Our stay in Girdwood was excellent. Kathy was a great host. Welcoming and quickly responsive. Only thing to be aware of is the only bathroom is downstairs and the bedroom on that level is just a double bed. The upstairs bedroom has steep wooden creaky steps so going up and down in the middle of the night may not be an option for some. The third level has an awesome “treehouse” sitting area which is really wonderful! Overall we were comfortable and recommend staying here.

Perfect start to Alaska trip

The hostess communicated all aspects well ahead of our arrival. The cabin itself was far more than we expected. Perfect location to Alyeska, and to all points east. Our next trip will definitely be staying there again!

Cozy and spacious accommodations in Girdwood

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely wooded cabin. Despite some rainy weather in Girdwood, this cabin with many large windows and a very cool treehouse felt like a cozy hideaway in the rainforest. We appreciated the laundry facilities and the well-furnished full kitchen. The location was also convenient to area restaurants.

Charming Cabin

A wonderful experience staying at this charming cabin in Girdwood. Kathy was a super helpful and responsive host who really cared about making sure we were well attended to. The cabin is fabulous! Super clean, organized, well stocked, and a super convenient base camp for all our Alaskan adventures. Would absolutely stay here again, loved it!

We have lived in Alaska for 30 years and love this beautiful state. We feel fortunate to be raising our family here and look forward to the time we get to spend in Girdwood skiing, snowboarding, hiking and just enjoying the laid back, friendly atmosphere.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We chose this particular property due to its location. Located on a third of an acre on a quiet, dead end road, it is very peaceful. The cabin is surrounded by hemlocks and in the summer the hummingbirds and blueberries are plentiful. It is centrally located with several restaurants and the local grocery within walking distance. Whittier, Seward and Hope are easy day trips by car should guests want to explore places other than Girdwood.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

St. Moritz sits at the base of Max's Mountain and ends shortly after our chalet. The neighbors are genuine and the blueberries sweet. When the sun shines, it warms the gravel roads and brings everyone out to visit and share stories. For the adventurous spirit, the back door leads to excellent powder skiing in winter and quiet hikes with bears, forest flowers and birds in summer. This is a quiet, serene place.
