Mountain Home Across from Purgatory - Views, Hot Tub, Game Room, AC

Thee home is accessed directly off Highway 550: 4WD/AWD is required in winter months because the road gets snow packed and icy.

Our 3,600 square foot, 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home is right across from Purgatory Ski Resort and was recently remodeled down to the studs and finished with high-end finishes and furnishings. The home is perfect for multiple families as it features 3 separate living spaces and is spread across the 3 floors, offering plenty of space.

The large gourmet kitchen and dining area make preparing meals and dining together a breeze. The game room room on the bottom floor features a pool table, foosball table as well as a seating area, TV and bar and there is a ping pong table in the garage. The home features Starlink WIFI with average internet speeds are around 100mbs (we have seen them over 200mbs). Cable TV is not offered, but all TVs are smart, and with high-speed internet, streaming multiple devices/TVs is not a problem. The house also features AC for the few days each summer it gets a bit warm in the mountains.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Great spot

Loved the place, it's exactly as advertised andncan accomodate the maximum guests very easily. We think we have found our new spot for our annual ski trip!

Awesome stay

It was an awesome stay and the property is amazing. Only thing is that It snowed ALOT the night before check in and there were about 3-4 leaks in the house from the melted snow the day after. They had 6 gentleman on top of our roof removing the snow within 40 minutes of messaging the manager. Im sure they will have it fixed before the next guest. Truly a great property to facilitate an even better weekend

The management team was very responsive to questions/inquiries. The kitchen was large and accommodated all our cooking but could use a few improvements. The coffee maker brews extremely slowly and the dishwasher doesn’t get everything clean. Stocking kitchen with more than just one dish towel would also be helpful. But overall the house was great and we would stay here again!

Great location near ski resort

This property is in a great location right across the street from Purgatory ski resort . We had a very enjoyable stay. The house is beautiful and well-appointed. The only problems that occurred during our stay were: The independent heater in one downstairs bedroom was inoperative; the gas fireplace didn't work; and the laundry and mud rooms were always cold. However, several space heaters were available, so we were okay. The management company sent a repairman promptly to address our issues. There was plenty of room for our group of 11, and the dining table was large enough for all of us. We loved the game room and the views from windows on all four sides of the house.

Heaters were provided to keep the house warm. We had 3 families split this home for our wedding elopement. It’s located about 30 minutes from downtown Durango. VRC was helpful and quick to respond. Must eat at James Ranch, we had the best burgers there & the view was great! Home is directly across from the ski resort. Would love to come back and rent again.

Wonderful Ski Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a very nice house for a large group to stay and ski at Purgatory. Plenty of rooms, nice large kitchen and dining area. A few things to mention, the property did have a grill in the garage even though the management company told us they didn't. Could have saved some money on groceries because the house did have items like paper towels, dish soap, toilet paper, salt & pepper, keurig pods, etc. Hard to regulate temperature with the downstairs thermostat not working well. Lots of space heaters so we used those. It would be wonderful if there was actually a couch and two chairs in the upstairs TV room instead of bean bag/snug chairs. Overall we would return.

It sounds like you had a mixed experience at the house, with both positive aspects and some areas for improvement. It's great to hear that the house provided plenty of space for your group and that you found the kitchen and dining area to be accommodating. A starter set of essentials is mentioned in the property listing, but can be subjective at times as some find it to be enough for their stay and others not nearly enough. Dealing with temperature regulation issues can be frustrating, especially during colder months, but it's good to hear that you were able to make use of space heaters to stay comfortable. Your suggestion regarding the furniture in the upstairs TV room is valuable feedback, and has been passed along to the owner. There was plenty of room for our group of 11. There were a couple of issues with heating the rooms downstairs. A maintenance person was dispatched promptly. Although he could not solve the problems, several space heaters were provided to help keep the rooms warm. Also, the gas fireplace does not work. The maintenance person could not fix it and stated it needed a repairman. A large group who wants to do a lot of cooking, as we did, might find that more baking pans and serving dishes are needed. The hot tub was great and we loved the game room. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Spacious Home with something for everyone

Our multi-generation family enjoyed our stay at this home. It was large, had great views and was extremely spacious. The house was wonderfully decorated and the beds were comfortable. The walk-in showers were great for older parents and the bathtub in the master suite worked well for the baby. We all loved playing pool in evenings and teens loved the big screen TV's for gaming. A few opportunities for improvement: allow use of the gas grill in the garage. We were told ahead of time use was not allowed. The kitchen stove does have a built-in grill however when we used it with the vent on high, it still set off the smoke detector so we abandoned use of it. Overall house cleanliness rated 4 stars since we had to wash all the pots before we use as they were not as clean as we would have liked and some areas of the house (table be pool table) could use a good dusting. We also saw the espresso machine still had water in it from a past tenant so we opted not to use it. Overall these small things did not damper our fun or enthusiasm for being in this beautiful location. We all agreed we would stay here again. If you are into skiing, you can't beat the location across the road from Purgatory Resort.

The Cantilever Lodge/NotMountain Home

I recently had the unfortunate experience of renting Cantilever Lodge ID# 1033730 . I feel compelled to share my dreadful encounter to prevent others from enduring the same nightmare. Trust me, you do not want to make the same mistake we did. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property was far from the paradise it was portrayed to be. Safety Hazards Galore: The property exhibited, from missing rungs on one of the bunk beds (an accident waiting to happen) to the outrageous use of sawed tree trunks as support for the bunk beds. Filthy and Neglected: Prepare yourself for an unclean and rundown property. Dusty furniture, dirty high chairs, and a significant buildup of lint in the bedroom vents were just the tip of the iceberg. Lack of Basic Amenities: Don't expect everything to be in working order. The ice maker was a no-show, leaving us with four unfilled ice trays in the freezer. The rain head fixture was cracked, spraying water all over the bathroom floor and creating a hazardous slip zone. Cold Showers and Broken Promises: Here's the kicker - if you enjoy hot water, look elsewhere. The lack of reliable hot water was a constant issue throughout our stay. We were left with luke warm water for 5 days, many days only 3 out of 11got hot showers. On the last day no water from 9-3 while they replaced the tankless hot water.I cannot stress enough how much I urge you to steer clear of renting from this company. Maintenance Issues but Nice home, Good location

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was told prior to arriving that a "guest bath" shower would not be operable. For this inconvenience they offered a 10% discount. I thought this was fair and appreciated the heads up. When we arrived, we learned it was the primary bath shower (not a guest bath) that we could not use. That was a bit frustrating, but okay. Meanwhile, the downstairs shower (we are told to use) has lifted floor tiles and a good amount of water collecting underneath when we showered. We also noticed the dishwasher leaking water onto the floor when running. We stopped using it and started washing dishes by hand-no big deal but a chore for a house of 9. However, we quickly realized there was a second leak underneath the kitchen sink and water was now dripping from the kitchen through the ceiling into the downstairs bathroom that we are told to be using but clearly, we no longer can. The Landlord was very responsive and has a maintenance man out within the hour. He was able to fix the leak under the sink; dishwasher could no longer be used for remainder of the trip (waiting on an order part) and the downstairs bath was now off limits, but the primary shower was now fixed. Other items: If using the toaster and microwave at the same time, it trips the power to the kitchen. There are exposed wires from in outlet next to the ovens. They also have no operable windows in the main living area or the bunk room downstairs. This makes for a hot house with no moving air if visiting in the summer. The basement heat was also programmed and kept turning on making it even hotter-something the maintenance guy couldn't figure out either. Kitchen lacked supplies I would expect to have available-like a medium or large pot for cooking pasta. Overall, this was a nice new home with decor and furniture that were top notch, just wish the build of the home held up as well.
