We truly enjoyed the space. My high school friend and I get together in Dubuque from time to time to play guitar and enjoy downtown Dubuque. Couldn’t have picked a better location. With a brewery next door and an excellent Asian restaurant beneath the space, we were a few blocks from our favorite coffee place (Charlotte’s). The brewery was not noisy, even on the weekend, and we NEVER smelled the restaurant cooking. It was great. The neighborhood was surprisingly quiet and very safe. We had an extra bonus with the farmer’s market that was held the weekend of our stay, just a half block away. Ken was a terrific host: very responsive and providing a very clean and comfortable apartment. The only downside was the 20 stairs one had to climb to get into the unit. That’s the only downside. We absolutely will stay there again when we’re back in town. Thanks, Ken!

We had a great stay. The place was very clean and comfy. Ken, the host was so friendly and accommodating. He even sat and visited with us for a while when we went to eat at the Asian restaurant just below our unit. The food at the restaurant was also great. We would stay again.

Beautiful Place, Amazing Location

We are a couple in our 40s. This place was perfect for us to stay. Easy check-in/check-out process. Very clean. Fully stocked kitchen and nice dining/living room area to relax in. Great location with the Farmer's Market right outside and plenty of nice restaurants within walking distances. Steep steps in the common area up to the apartment, but a nice sturdy railing to hold on to. So long as no accessibility needs, would HIGHLY recommend this place to stay.

Accommodations were excellent, efficient for use, didn't mind walking up stairs to the second level. Lovely decor! We recommend you stock a little better with kitchen utensils.

Sisters' Weekend

Ken's apartment was beautiful and spacious. We were sisters in town for a family event, so were on the go a lot. It was fun to step outside on Saturday morning and see the Farmers' Market. Would highly recommend.It may be helpful to know there is a staircase to the apartment and 1 designated parking spot.

Nice trendy place in downtown

Great little place in downtown Dubuque. Close to many places. They place is nicely stocked. No elevator though, so stairs to upper apartment.

Loved the location! The apartment has everything we needed! Ken was responsive and helpful!

We stayed for 4 days in Dubuque to visit with my granddaughter over spring vacation. Very spacious and comfortable! It is everything you see on the site. Only good surprises—-it was even nicer than expected!! Thank you, Ken!!!

Great stay with kids

Very clean and spacious. There is lots of room for kids to run around. The owner was very responsive in helping us solve a wifi issue which turned out to be completely user error. The only reason the neighborhood gets four stars is that there is a decent bit of road noise and train sounds and also the street lights make it hard to get the rooms completely dark. It was very convenient to get to the River Museum and water park from here though!

Very clean and beautifully updated unit. Property owner is very nice and has great communication! Highly recommend...very clse to local restaurants and the hockey rink.

Access was smooth and easy. Apartment was as described minus a few dishes etc. this was not a big issue for our group. Apt was clean and comfortable 38 steps up to the apartment Thanks for offering your property for rent

Worked Perfectly for us

This 2 bedroom apartment worked perfectly for our girls weekend. It is in an ideal location. The farmer's market is right outside the door. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Ken was super responsive to any questions we had. Would stay there again.

Hello, my name is Ken, and I’d love to share my journey with you. I was born and raised in China and moved to Chicago in 1997. With a deep passion for food, I worked in multiple restaurants, learning the art of cooking, but faced a major challenge—I couldn’t speak English. Since I lived and worked within the Chinese community, my opportunities for language learning were limited.

Determined to grow, I made the bold decision to step outside my comfort zone. I moved to Dubuque in 2000 and took a job at Hy-Vee, where I started as a cook and, within two years, became the Chinese department manager. This experience not only refined my culinary skills but also helped me improve my English and gain confidence in a new environment.

In 2003, I took another leap—I started investing in real estate. It was a risk, but I believed in the power of hard work and persistence. By 2008, after five years of learning and building, I made the life-changing decision to leave my job and become a full-time real estate investor.

Over the years, I expanded my knowledge in real estate, but my love for cooking never faded. In 2018, I merged my entrepreneurial drive with my culinary passion and opened Oolong Asian Cuisine—a restaurant that celebrates my heritage through delicious, authentic flavors.

Today, Oolong Asian Cuisine thrives as a reflection of my journey—one built on perseverance, risk-taking, and the belief that change leads to growth. If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: If you want to change your life, make your move. I hope my story inspires you to take your own steps toward your dreams.
