Sobre o anfitrião
Anfitrião: Jack and Elizabeth Coleman
Jack and Elizabeth merged their lives and their mutual love for history, music and old houses when they married in 2015. A 6th generation Texan who has found herself in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, Elizabeth has infused Jack's deep Delta roots with a shot of good old South Texas/Mexican customs and together they have created a warm and inviting place for visitors to stay to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether it is for business or pleasure that you choose to be in this unique place near the beautiful and dramatic Mississippi River, the slow pace, the kind people and the access to fabulous music and food will capture your heart.
Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade
Just walking in you will experience the welcoming warmth of this 127 year old Victorian country house, which is a contributing property to the Rosedale National Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 13 foot ceilings; beautiful floors including heart pine, cypress, and oak; and comfortably furnished rooms might make leaving hard to do. Spacious bedrooms with black out shades for sleeping in, two large screen tvs, and a great kitchen for cooking for your group of 2 to 10 will enhance your stay in the Delta. While the storage building in the back yard will get its own facelift in the Spring of 2023, the interior of the historic house is ready and awaits your group for a short or long stay as you explore all the Delta has to offer.
The Chaney House is a great place to stay as you explore all the Mississippi Delta has to offer. Centrally located in Rosedale, half way between Memphis and Vicksburg, Elizabeth and Jack restored this c 1895 home and are making it available for discerning visitors. Whether your love of Blues music, nature, hunting, or history bring you to the region, you will love coming home to the Chaney House, your home away from home. Elizabeth and Jack live nearby and are happy to answer questions and steer you in the right direction for food and fun.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?
If the Mississippi River is your passion, the Chaney house is less than 2.8 miles from the public boat ramp into the Mississippi River at Terrene Landing River Park and another public boat ramp into the River at the Port of Rosedale, and less than 1.3 miles to the Great River Road State Park, with a mile of Mississippi River frontage. Make the short drive up to Terrene Landing for a photo op by the Mighty Mississippi, watch the sunset and dip your toe in (just don't swim in the powerful current).
Blues legend Robert Leroy Johnson made Rosedale forever famous in his classic blues song"Traveling Riverside Blues" in the late 1930s. The band Cream and Eric Clapton based their "Crossroads" song and album on Robert Johnson's recordings. Although his recording career spanned only 7 months, Johnson is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
We are centrally located between Blues tourist sites, including Clarksdale's Hobson plantation, Stovall Farms ( Muddy Water's birthplace), Dockery Farms, Indianola (The BB King museum and gravesite), Greenville and the only Grammy Museum outside of L.A. associated with the Delta Music Institute at Delta State University, 20 miles up Hwy 8 in Cleveland!
Take your time to explore Hwy 1, part of the federally designated "Great River Road National Scenic Byway". Rosedale is situated along the Mississippi river between the confluence of the Arkansas River and the White River on the West side of the river. This part of the Mississippi River Valley was home to many native tribes. The Mound Builder culture thrived nearby, mounds and cities were built along the Mississippi because of the great advantages that the river provided. You can visit one of the most important mound sites just 29 miles south of Rosedale at Winterville Mounds state park.
Making your own new memories today honors the ones made in the distant and not so distant past...the story of this house and place isn't finished. Enjoy!
