Experience true Vermont luxury in the solitude of a spectacular but warmly furnished winter retreat located on a very private ten acres. You will feel that you're vacationing in your own forest - yet you are 15 minutes from Manchester; 5 minutes to Bromley, 15 minutes to Magic, 20 minutes to Stratton, and 35 minutes to Okemo.

Enjoy entertaining in the open layout of the first floor: great room (with massive fieldstone fireplace, satellite 40' HD smart TV, stereo), sunroom, fully-equipped kitchen, cable high speed internet and wifi, large dining room, bedroom (queen), and full bath. Second floor includes two bedrooms (each with queen bed and full bath) and loft with day bed (two twins).

Bottom floor features game room (with second 40" HD smart TV), ping pong table, foosball, darts), two bedrooms (one with queen; the other with queen and set of bunks) and full bath.

Enjoy the outdoor hot tub on deck off the sunroom after a day of skiing, boarding, snowshoeing on the property's trails or sleigh-riding down the drive.

For summertime, enjoy hiking on the Long Trail, canoeing, picnicking and hiking around Hapgood Pond, fishing and golf nearby.

For the Fall, enjoy the spectacular foliage on our 10 acres and about.

Beautiful home with beautiful surroundings and everything you need to enjoy the winter. Close to several ski areas. Great ambiance with the fireplace and hot tub, and a great place to sled on the driveway. Lots to do with game room in the basement. Plenty of room, beds and bathrooms for a large family. Well-stocked with items for cooking, also for small children such as baby gate and pack n play. Friendly, responsive host with clear instructions. Couldnā€™t ask for me. Would definitely stay again.

Excelellent place for the whole family

The number rooms were perfect for our large family. The house is beautiful and the large wooden property offered plenty of privacy. The nearby Hapgood pond was a perfect spot for relaxing, swimming and kayaking.

We've stayed at Solitude twice now and love the property. It's a perfect house for a couple of families to share. Has everything you need.

Lovely Cabin

The house does not disappoint in any way! Beautifully kept and better in person than the photos. The fireplace was super cozy to gather around after skiing and the hot tub was perfect with lit pine trees around it. All the bedrooms are perfect with en-suite bathrooms. Kitchen easily accommodates the movement of five couples. Tony the owner was highly communicative and pleasant. Highly recommend this home!!!

Great ski house

This is a perfect ski house for family with younger kids. Bunk beds/ping pong/foosball all in the basement. Hot tub and fireplace were used everyday after hitting the slopes. Also, due to weather, cleaning crew could not come before visit but Anthony was quick to refund cleaning fee which was much appreciated.

A great vacation house! Very quite & wonderful place. Good for family & big group of ppl.

Everything is awesome. Decent decorations. Only internet was not that good, not sure enough for WFH setting but okay for email & web browser. 1/2 hr for several ski resorts, which is great!

Very nice private property

It is hard to find very nice property like this to stay. House was clean. Its location is excellent. Very quiet and private. Amenities were great. They have everything you can ask for. Anthony communicates throughly throughout the way. We really enjoyed the property. Hot tub is an excellent add on. There is plenty of firewood for the fireplace.

Family Weekend

3 familes (10 of us) stayed for the weekend. House is fantastic. Clean, beautiful scenic wooded lot. Many of us ski, so we went to Okemo while others ventured into Manchester to shop. Other than that we enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace, and great laughs around the large kitchen table. The owner quickly responds to questions. Thank you for having us we hope to return next year.

Luxury But....

Great location. Very quiet. Driveway steep and long. A bit tricky with the VT Winters. House was at one point a beauty but is now becoming a bit dated. On a positive note Tony the owner is very attentive. He had his plow guy come and sand the driveway right away. Great water pressure and hot water. Our family had a great time but the house needs some work.

Excellent location

I have been traveling to Vermont for the past 5 years. But always for skiing , never for Summer. However, A few couples and friends decided to take a summer trip to Vermont. We wanted a house close to a lake. This house was in the perfect location from Hapgood pond. Literally two minutes away. We were so shocked on how amazing the pond was we ended up going every day. The pond was large and had a mini beach as well. The house also had great amenities including a large hot tub and fire pit. The communication with the owner was seamless. The only downfall to the home was the cleanliness. The house just lacked organization and felt like someone hasnā€™t lived there in quite some time. But we had such a great time and would definitely go back.

Weekend skiing

Had a wonderful holiday weekend over New Yearā€™s Eve enjoying Manchester area and Bromley mountain. Property is absolutely lovely with plenty of room, very clean, great location and very comfortable! Beautiful big bedrooms, big windows and loved the decor! The weekend we were there was very warm with rain so the road leading to property was rather muddy and a little challenging to navigate in our minivan (lots of mud) but driveway was well gravelled. Lots of extra condiments and sundry kitchen / grocery items which was a real bonus! Everything you could need in a kitchen was there! Combo drip coffee and keureg was nice as well. Youā€™ll want to bring a hair dryer with you as I didnā€™t notice one but there was nothing else that we couldnā€™t find - very comfortable. Game room downstairs with TV was lots of funā€¦thanks for sharing your lovely home with us -we had a great weekend!

Beautiful House, Perfect for Our Ski Trip

This is a gorgeous house with floor to ceiling windows in the great living room showing off the beautiful landscape. Its wooden architecture and huge stone fireplace set the cozy and warm tone of a classic ski trip for our party of 11 (6 adults/5 children) for the week. The open kitchen/dining is very spacious with a 12-person dining table long enough to fit everyone comfortably. The house is clean and well kept. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to prepare meals for our group. The bedrooms are roomy with comfortable beds. We also enjoyed the hot tub very much. Tony was very responsive and so was Ace, the caretaker who helped us plow the driveway early in the morning (so we could make it to the kidsā€™ ski lessons at Okemo). One of the house rules is to launder any towel and bedding that we used and put them back in each room at the time of checkout. While this was new to us, this was fine for our group with a little advanced planning. We were glad that the owner kept the cleaning fee down in exchange for this house rule. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at Solitude and would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-kept, quiet and lovely stay.

Great location

Nice, secluded spot. The big windows in the house are beautiful. Cozy place. The only issue we had was the hot tub was pretty dirty when we got there, there was no dish detergent provided to run the dish washer, and the porch steps were unsafe. Other than these items, the house was great.

Remote getaway

This is a beautiful home that has all the amenities one could ask for. Our group of 10 love the space, the deck, and all the places to hang out in. We played games, inside and outside. There is so much to do around the area. We went to Bromley and downtown Manchester for some excitement. There were quarries for swimming and diving - just an awesome vacation.

Had a wonderful trip up to Peru. Great location, close to Hapgood Pond and Hapgood General store, and an easy trip down to Manchester for all the restaurants and stores you can need. Very private and secluded in the woods for a tranquil trip.

Beautiful cabin but long list of checkout requirements

Cabin is a beautiful 5 bedroom and 4 bath. Tony is accommodating and polite. We had a power outage due to the storm but the place was properly equipped with candles. The only comment I have is the check out list. Even with a cleaning fee, the list of checkout requirements is long. I wouldā€™ve preferred to have the checkout instructions listed in the description prior to booking so weā€™re aware of what we signed up for.
