Sanderling Sanctuary is a newly updated pet-friendly vacation rental in Cape Charles, Virginia! Featuring views of the Chesapeake Bay; guaranteed stunning sunsets and only steps to the private beach. The house sleeps up to 8 people with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Other amenities are 6 televisions, free WiFi, a charcoal grill, and 3-level deck areas with a screen porch off the 2nd-floor dining room. Linens and towels are provided.
*Please note: Guests will receive a 100% refund if their reservation is canceled 60 days before the arrival date. Check-in is anytime after 4 pm and check-out is 11 am.

Upon departure, all trash must be bagged and taken to the outside trash can; no loose trash, please! If the grill was used be sure all coals are cold.
As you prepare to leave please tidy up; please do not leave unopened food in the fridge, dirty dishes in the sink, or wet towels on the floor.
As you are checking out please be sure all doors and windows are secure. Please turn off lights and appliances.

Fall getaway

We had a great time meeting up with friends for a little fall getaway. The house was big enough for the kids to have some space away from the adults, and the area was perfect for scooter rides and walks to the private beach.

Beautiful house in a stunning setting

The house was a wonderful setting for a getaway with three generations of family. Nicolle is a thoughtful, attentive and helpful host.

Family Vacation

This is a beautiful and very comfortable home! Very clean! Great location to the beach. The town has many wonderful restaurants and shops! We took our daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren. We all enjoyed this week at the beach and this spacious beautiful home! We will definitely be back.

Perfect place in beautiful area

Spacious house, beautifully done, perfect to have my kids room on the ground level with the primary suite, with comfortable rooms on the kitchen level for both sets of grandparents. Loved the third level view and it was perfect for squeezing in a few hours of work (unfortunately!). Well equipped with beach chairs, boogie boards and bikes. Loved it!

Spacious house in Kings Bay

Nicolle (the owner/manager) was great - very helpful communications. The house is large and well stocked, including with beach towels and some other beach gear. The kitchen appliances are really nice - the dishwasher is full size and much more functional than other rental homes :) Nice water views throughout the house because it’s located on the corner, so you have a clear view down the street to the water. Close to beach access for the same reason. Thanks!

Overall a great experience

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The house included a lot of extra stuff that houses don't normally provide (beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, etc.). The host was responsive when we had questions or concerns. If we plan to stay in that part of town again we would definitely consider returning. I will say the mattress in the master bedroom was uncomfortable and several of the fire detectors were disconnected for some reason.

Well equipped beautiful home

We loved loved this property and the neighborhood. Nicole (owner) was a pleasure to communicate with. This house seems fairly new or newly renovated. Beautiful main suite and bathroom. The private beach was a short 2 min walk. From the cleanliness to the amenities. The house came with lots of things for the kids to use, bike, scooters, tubes - very well equipped even with items in the kitchen, lots of seating to accommodate a big group. The linens and towels are nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Highly recommend, will def use again when we go back to Cape Charles.

Nicolle is a GEM

From prebooking interaction to ensure that my service dog would be welcomed, to check out, everything was smooth sailing. Nicolle is tuned in, plugged in, easy to communicate with and truly wants you to enjoy your stay. The house is massive and gorgeous. The master bathroom deserves its own separate review! The community is gated and Cape Charles is a very safe town with a phenomenal police department. There is a fireplace for those chilly evenings, and you can see the water from the many porches and balconies. Nicolle, thank you for being such a wonderful human being, and for accommodating Remi!

Great Location Bad Service

The VRBO app states that access to the house will be provided 15 min prior to the 4pm checkin. This information was never uploaded and the property. I had to call four times to get the property manger on the phone. She never provided the gate code to get into the community (however we learned that if you call the front desk and tell them where you are staying, they will let you in). It also states that it sleeps 10 people. We had 8 people staying at the house and we took up all the available sleeping areas (we had two-three staying per room). I would say that unless people slept on the couch, 8 is the absolute max.

Thank you Katie for your candid review. Unfortunately, you neglected to mention the condition you left our home in and the way you treated our neighbors. I hope you find a better-suited home for you and your party friends in Cape Charles. Preferably not in a high-end gated community. You also forgot to mention you did not pay for the extra cleaning and damages fees; additionally that you gained entry prior to your check-in time to our gated community via "a friend that works at the marina"; because you said you are from Cape Charles; I would think you would have more respect. 5 Stars!

We were lucky enough to be Nicolle’s first booking at 2 King’s Bay Drive. First and foremost, her communication was top notch. We literally felt like old cousins by the time the week started! She genuinely did everything she could to make sure our stay was perfect. I have a family of 4 (one child 7 and the other is 19!) plus my in laws and it gave us AMPLE space. The kitchen/living room area is unreal. But truthfully the very best part of the house is it’s location. The sunsets over the Chesapeake are only a 2 minute walk across the street. It’s also a great place to get in the water or walk the sand exploring the wildlife. The neighborhood is perfect for both bicycle and golf cart rides with the kiddos. Our favorite night there was when we put some music on the surround sound and utilized the large kitchen that was supplied with EVERYTHING we needed to make an incredible seafood dinner from the local seafood market. She even has a ping pong table and some board games which makes for a fun evening activity with the family. Beds are comfy and there is a tv in every room which is also crucial for my children! Would absolutely recommend and will 100% reach out to her when we want to come back to the lovely Cape Charles area!
