Sobre esta propriedade

Spacious Villa with 4 acre garden, orchard, waterfalls and Sunset Sea View

Villa Vista Dorada is a unique 3 bedroom 3 bath house high above Trujillo, Honduras.

After entering through a fortress-like door you find yourself in a cobblestone central courtyard with fountain. The living and dining rooms open to a 50 foot covered terrace with colonial-style columns with a spectacular view of the coast and the Caribbean Sea below. The house is furnished with antiques from all over Central America. Below the house is a 4 acre garden and orchard. A small river flows through boulders and waterfalls on the border of the property. The expert cook that comes with your rental will prepare whatever local seafood you bring her.

Spend the day at any of the many local beaches or take in the fortaleza in town or sit on the square, or walk down the beach to lunch at Campamento, where they prepare your food in a wood burning clay oven. Then return to the house for a shower, cocktails, and the amazing sunset view. Get up early and enjoy the privileged view from the terrace for bird-watching.

Rarely are you able to have such a comfortable perch to see birds flying below you in the river valley, with the sun shining from behind you.

Beautiful,exceptional home

We were a group of five at the end of a mission trip. We loved the uniqueness of the home and furnishings. The view and the grounds were gorgeous. A little disappointed there was no ac, but fans kept us cool at night. Uniqueness of the home and property more than offset the lack of ac.

Family Visit to Trujillo

This was my second stay at the house in Trujillo. It is beyond what you see in the pictures. The tropical setting is phenomenal with an enchanting view of the ocean, mountains and gardens enveloping the property. The area is safe as the property manager, Noel, is known to all in the neighborhood. Tana, the cook/housekeeper, is very special and cooks great meals. She is a bit elderly, so please treat her with the respect she deserves. The house is minutes away from the town but you definitely should have a vehicle and be forwarned that some of the side roads are unpaved. We loved the quiet, the hammock, the views and the amenities of the house. I would highly recommend a stay at the Villa as well as the charming and lovely as is the small city of Trujillo. The people are warm and hospitable and there is great history to the city. I also recommend visiting the Christopher Columbus hotel where you can dine on local cuisine and enjoy the pool and the ocean. Enjoy Trujillo! Thanks Steed!

Paradise in Honduras

We stayed at this property and found it to be very very nice. Waking to the veranda and the sounds of the waterfall below and the birds. The trip to the Aguan river with John was exceptional. Monkeys, tropical birds and beautiful scenery. Visited a Garifuna village for lunch, very interesting. Great interaction with the locals. After long days out, returning to the Villa where the cook and various staff looked after your every need was very refreshing. They had just installed a new generator when we arrived, so no power outages or down time while we were there. The beach and access were not an issue for us. You are in a remote part of the world, we had some small hiccups, nothing too quibble about honestly. We had a great time, relaxed and enjoyed Trujillo, the house and the area. We will return. Thanks Steed for making it easy!

Villa Dorado

We stayed for two months, I wish we hadn't. The house is beautiful. Amazing views, lush forest, fresh fruits off the trees all great. We were told there was a generator in case of long power outages, it was not operational and no effort made to make it so. Also in case of power outages, the gas stove in the apartment was to be for our use, it was also out of gas and not filled for sometime. The power was out for 12 hours one time and 10 another. The housekeeper is wonderful. The beach property that was to be included with our own private beach was not available, an alternate plan was available but if we wanted to spend our days at Campamento we would have stayed at Campamento. The house roof leaks in many places, it needs some maintenance. We enjoyed walking up and down the hill to town, it is quite a hike up! Would we stay there again, probably not. When paying tip top rates, we expected tip top accomodations.

This villa was a real treat and we found the listing description accurate. Steed was very responsive to any of our questions and provided extensive information about the area. Our most favorite thing was sitting on the porch and enjoying the view and garden. We loved the Campamento resort and restaurant near Santa Fe and actually spent the day there on the beach as it is the most beautiful beach in the area. The beach access was difficult as we were there during the rainy season and the roads were terrible but we did make it in a low clearance rental car ( Toyota Corolla). A high clearance vehicle would have been best for our entire trip in Honduras but we were trying to save money. The boat trip to the lagoon was also a highlight but we wish we had gone earlier in the day to see more birds. The on site manager of this property is very helpful and able to set up anything you might need. We felt very well cared for

little piece of paradise

We stayed at the house of Scott for the first two weeks of April 2011. I had fallen in love with the home from the pictures and it never disappointed. I had neveer been to Central America and wasn't sure what to expect when we got there. When everyone you talk to asks if you felt safe down there (when you get home) you have to believe htat there must be something to it. Well, I'm home, and I'm safe, and I never felt threatened, and I'm pretty sure nobody I was with felt any of that stuff either. Steed (yes, that's his first name) had arranged for a friend of his, John, to meet us at the airport in La Cieba. For $100 John made the three hour trip from Trujillo, picked us up, talked our ears off, and provided details about the city and the country, that you couldn't have gotten anywhere else. Advise: learn Spanish. Nobody speaks English except ex-pats and most of them never come into the city. If you don't speak the language, make sure you have a dictionario. The people are wonderful and will help you with the lanquage as much as they can. Make sure you have a flashlight. Electricity is a priviledge not a right. Power outages are very common, at least 10 in 14 nights. Steed has a generator but its very romantic just having candles so we only used it one night when we needed it for cooking (get a gas stove!) If you are renting a car, and you're going to need to, rent a 4x4 and see if they have a rental office in Trujillo. If there are none, make sure they have a way of servicing the vehicle when, not if, it breaks down. The roads are horrible. Lots of 'batches' (potholes) that like to eat small rental cars! You must go to the market and buy fresh produce, but more important, you need to learn how to make a fruit drink called tamarindo. Google the medicinal value of the drink. I am living proof of its power to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Currency in Honduras is the lempiras. They don't really take anything else but there is am ATM downtown if you run out of money. Don't assume you can use USD. Our friends tried that and found out the hard way that they deal almost exclusively in their own currency. Steed, your house, your friends, and your employees are all beautiful. I would recomment this property for rental any day. Special thanks to John and Allan for sharing their world with us.

Guest Returns from Trujillo

I stayed here in late August with my family. I cannot believe I paid this amount for so much. The owner says he will hold my price for me if I return. I will go back. There is the best cook in the world there, Urbana. I think she worked for hotels in the past. Anyway, she will cook anything you want! We went and bought fresh fish and she used all the spices. Each morning we had fruit from the trees on the grounds. There is a gentleman, Noel, that will drive you anywhere. Trujillo, while a rural town, has all you need and the people are quite friendly to Americans or folks from other counties. It is very stable. There is a beach club where foreigners hang out run by an American. Great food for a low price. Just sip a margarita and enjoy. Next to that is a petting zoo and a pool. There is a pharmacy in town that has everything. The owner has beach property he let us use that is quiet and charming. If you want to relax looking over a tropical bay and not spend alot for full service, this place is a no-brainer. Gorgeous. Franklin Henson, Atlanta Georgia

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

I spent several years traveling through the Yucatan, Guatemala, and Honduras looking for a place to construct a vacation home. One day I arrived at the bridge over the lagoon outside of Trujillo just at sunset. With the sunset reflecting on the huge and placid bay, the volcano-like mountain looming behind, and with the lights of Trujillo twinkling between the mountain and the sea, I knew that I had found the place I wanted to build.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The terrace overlooking the sea beckons all day long. It's tough to decide whether to lay in the hammock, recline on the lounge chair, or just sit and read. The cook is excellent. Just buy some lobsters or shrimp and tell her to make lobsters with butter, garlic and curry tonight, and use the leftovers for lobster omelets in the morning. There is a diminutive Payan Indian woman who will come to the house and give you an hour long massage for $20 a person (We have a professional massage table).
