Canoe Creek Lodge boasts 7 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms with indoor Fireplace, Outdoor Hot Tub Jacuzzi and fully stocked pond with bluegill, bass, and brown trout (catch & release only). The lodge sits up above Canoe Creek with great trout fishing on its banks and overlooks the historical NE Iowa Canoe Creek Steel Bridge. Perfect for family getaway.
Only 10 miles outside of Decorah Iowa and near the Upper Iowa River.
- 3 night min stay required for summer weekends - Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend.
- Outdoor swimming pool coming this year from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend.
This lodge is perfect for a large family getaway. Being one of the only properties in the area that sleeps 20+ people so you can all gather together in one place.
Please note that this property is not BRAND NEW built. It does have wear and tear from being a full time rental property . It is priced according to it's beautiful location, several amenities and large space for families and seclusion.
We do have internet at the property, however at the time being it is satellite which is not high speed.
There are 3 levels.
Main level has 2 bedrooms/ 1 bath along with the kitchen and living are where fireplace is and the loft. 1 bedroom has a queen, the other 2 queens. Loft has a futon and living room a queen pull out couch.
Upstairs there are 2 additional bedrooms and bathroom , 1 room with 1 queen the other with 4 single beds.
Lower level has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath as well and a small kitchenette. 1 bedroom has 1 queen and 1 single bed the other bedroom has 2 twins.

outdoor pool is only set up and available june 1st to Sep 2nd. It may be set up a week before and a week after that gap, weather and time permitting. If you want to find out If pool is up early for season or still up after season please message me first. The pool is not heated, but does have a solar cover on.

Family wedding

We traveled 4 hours from home to attend a family wedding. This cabin was perfect for our large family. The layout allowed each of our kids to have enough individual space for their families and grandma & grandpa some quiet when needed 😉 Main living areas are very spacious. Plenty of room for everyone! We finally found a property that was large enough to handle our whole family of 20 people. Plenty of room to gather or get away from each other for awhile.

Nice location for large group getaway

Great property and scenery. House is spacious. It could use some updating/organization as far as kitchen and supplies in it as well as cleaning out of drawers and cabinets better. Bedding and bathrooms were clean and ready for us (minus the discovery of what seemed to be a possible dog chew stick in one of the downstairs beds…gave us a good laugh). The heating system was a little different so took a bit to adjust in different areas, some bedrooms too warm, others too cold but it all worked out. Overall a very pleasant stay and host was good about answering questions.

Decent spot out in the country

Overall it was a nice experience. The hot tub water was pretty cloudy/scummy and you could tell the house has been a rental for a long time with little details being off, but overall it's a nice place for a big group. Great location out in the country.

Updates needed

The property is beautiful but definitely needs updates/attention. There is no central air so it was very warm inside during our stay. The bedrooms felt nice but the living area/kitchen were very warm & uncomfortable (it was also 100° outside during our stay) there were bees & wasps everywhere!! Tons of wasps nests in corners of the house outside. One of the banisters on the top deck is completely broke in half & could've been very bad for our two 2 year old girls that kept leaning against them them to look at the pool, if we hadn't noticed it first!! Beautiful views & property but definitely needs some TLC.

Relaxing and peaceful; a few issues

We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was quite spacious, so the kids were able to play in one area and the adults could relax and converse without interruption. We all had a great time exploring outside as well; it's very scenic. The bed frames are falling apart; two of the kids and myself all hurt ourselves on exposed screws and sharp edges. There was also mouse poop in a few of the kitchen cupboards. We're not particularly squeamish as we live in the country and expect that kind of thing, so we just washed the dishes that were in those cupboards before we used them, but it is something that might bother other guests. When I notified the property owner of this, I didn't get any response. Again, I wasn't upset personally, but it would be nice just to have it acknowledged. It also snowed the day before we left, and no one came to plow the drive until the following morning. My husband had to run into town to pick up more milk, and fortunately he has a big truck with 4 wheel drive, otherwise we'd be stuck. Again, we are pretty laid-back people, so none of this really spoiled the stay for us, and we had a lovely time. Overall, it's a really great place.

Beautiful Location

The property had plenty of room for our family. We had 20 people staying. The set up of the house is a little weird but we liked it. The property was listed for sale when we stayed there and honestly if we had the money we would have purchased it and listed it as a VRBO as well. The property is absolutely beautiful. The house could use some updates but we had everything that we needed.

Great country holiday

A multi-family trip for the New Year took us to this remote lodge in scenic NE Iowa. There was a ton of space for all 10 of us. We were very thankful for the wifi since there was no cell service and the hot tub was fun for everyone. It was a little intimidating getting through all the winding, unpaved roads, but it was well worth it!

Country retreat

Remote but beautiful location. Room for all for our family gathering. Some disrepair with broken blinds, rotting deck boards and hot tub water needing to be treated. Please update your local contact information in the binder left out for renters. The horses broke thru a section of the fence and we attempted to contact the. name/number in the binder with no response. We were able to guide the horses back into the paddock and place fence slats back into place. Overall though a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Amazing property !

This is a great property only 15 min away from decorah but yet it feels very secluded . Views are amazing , colors just started to change so the bluffs are very pretty . It slept our entire family of 18 comfortably. Rates can’t be beat for what you get . Loved the hot tub and the cute duck that lives in the pond . My husband fished and caught a nice bass . We didn’t try the stream but looked like nice fishing in it as well. This isn’t a brand new home but it is rustic and it was the perfect getaway we were looking for .
