JOHN (COMPAI) KUMPEL

Compai and Kumpel both mean buddy or pal. John, the owner is from Southern New Jersey, a former member of the U.S. Army, and a utility worker. In 2010, John purchased his first property in Sosua at the Garden Condos. Then, shortly after he realized Sosua is where he wanted to live. In 2014 John was able to purchase what is now Casa De Compai. It was the fulfillment of a dream, to be able to do what he has done for 30+ years in Southern New Jersey restoring old homes, now John has done that in the Caribbean. John’s vision for Casa De Compai is to provide an opulent vacation rental, in a upgraded well maintained property, at an affordable cost.

As Casa De Compai has grown and welcomed new and former guests to the property, attention has increased about Casa De Compai to the extent that an international magazine wrote a story about John (Compai), and how Casa De Compai started as a wish, and became the property it is today. I love nothing better than showing new guests around town, giving them information about the area, where to eat, my favorite bars, best beaches, arranging trips or scuba diving. I adore my work, and the best part of it is the people I meet, many of who become lifelong friends.

There are several different beaches and all are within a 12 minute
Playa Sosua is the town’s main beach and is a fun, colorful and lively beach which is approximately one kilometer long, with a row of shacks along the back, selling food, drinks and souvenirs. The beach has sheltered, calm waters, and around 100 meters out there is a good reef for snorkeling. It is a great place to spend the day.
There are four other beaches, and others come and go following the effects of storms. These tend to be quieter for those who want a more relaxed beach day.

There are several different transport options, but bear in mind that everything is within walking distance from Casa De Compai. In addition there are motorcycle taxis, normal taxis, buses to get to Puerto Plata or Cabarete or further afield, or you can hire a car or a scooter.
There are numerous things to do in and around Sosúa either on your own, or taking an excursion. These include scuba diving, and Casa De Compai can offer the pool training on site for you. In addition there is deep sea fishing, jeep tours, waterfalls, horseback riding, . There are also excursions to different beaches and snorkeling tours.
Sosúa has a large number of restaurants and you can find authentic German, Italian, English and even Dominican food! There are places to eat pizza, burger, ribs, fried chicken and fine dining restaurants overlooking the ocean serving sea food and quality steaks. Whether you want a romantic meal for two, a fun night with friends watching sports or a quick bite to eat, Sosúa has something for everyone.
In addition, the condos in Casa de Compai have a fully equipped kitchen and with an international supermarket only a few minutes’ walk away, you can cook up a feast every night.

Casa De Compai is a well established boutique condo complex. There are 10 rentals from 1 two bedroom condo, 3 studios, 6 one bedrooms and a two bedroom unit. All units are well maintained and all tables are granite and anything wood is mahogany . The complex has its own 100 meg fiber line and each unit has a private 100meg internet line. Tv is provided by internet tv to provide extensive tv channel options.Electric is not included in the rent. The average daily rate is $1.50 to $2.00 per day. Other Notes for guests
The electric used by the renter isn't cover in the rent. The electric meter is recorded at check in and out for an exact amount of electric used. There is no subletting allowed at all.
