Historic farm new large private pool and separate gite

Holiday home 'Maison de Foussay' is a medieval farm that once belonged to the famous abbey of Maillezais and was inhabited by monks who supplied the abbey with fruit and vegetables. The house is located in the village of Liez (85420) in the South of the Vendee, in the beautiful nature reserve Le Marais Poitevin.

Maillezais 3 km away, has a bakery, butcher, supermarket and various restaurants. The beach at La Rochelle is a 50-minute drive away and Nantes airport is 45 minutes away. In Niort, a nice town 25 minutes drive away, there is a TGV station from where it is only 2 hours by train to Paris. Liez is 900 kilometers from Utrecht.

The South of the Vendee has a subtropical climate under the influence of a warm Gulf Stream; the number of hours of sunshine is comparable to the French south coast, with a few degrees lower temperature. The temperature in spring and autumn fluctuates between 18 and 24 degrees, in the summer period (June - September) the temperature is 25 to 30 degrees.

The large garden (1.5 ha) borders the river La Vieille Autise; Kayaks, boats and bicycles for rent in the vicinity. There is a table tennis table, hammocks, football goals, pétanque sets and a dart board. There is also a large Weber BBQ and several beds, sun loungers and parasols for the pool.

In the house there are three large and three small bedrooms, all with their own (old-fashioned but functioning) small bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Four of the six bedrooms have one 2-bed and two rooms with two separate beds next to each other. All rooms have a fan and wooden shutters against the sun.
The house is very cool in the summer so the fans are never really needed. For the winter there is central heating.

There is a large sitting room with fireplace, Apple TV and a large kitchen with dishwasher, oven, kettle, Nespresso machine and charming antique crockery for 15 people. Luxury lies in the ample supply of everything you need to cook and enjoy a large family dinner. Lots of plates, cutlery, pots, pans etcetera. The kitchen is still very "autentique' but serves its purpose.
The outbuilding consists of 3 different barns and a separate gîte. The latter consists of a bedroom with a double bed, a small sitting room with a single bed, a toilet and a bathroom with a shower.
A Nespresso machine and kettle are also provided here.
There is very good WiFi coverage (40MB) in both the main house and the outbuilding and also part of the large garden.

Maison de Foussay is decorated to make you feel at home. The interior has been put together with taste and a sense of comfort, just like at home. The house is very suitable for several families, whether or not in combination with grandparents in our separate gîte.

The heated swimming pool is 6 x 14 m and has slightly salty water. This is maintained and cleaned during each stay.

In total there are 15 beds. Sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, bath towels and kitchen linen can be booked. Final cleaning is exclusive. Deposit € 1500,-.
