Great location. The suite was lovely and well stocked with necessary housewares. The owners were very kind and welcoming. I’d always choose this property when staying in the area.

What an exceptional stay! We love coming to Elkader and this is our first time staying in these suites. The room was relaxing, easy to access and the accommodations were what we needed for a long weekend stay. The outdoor patio was a wonderful bonus to sit outside for evening drinks and talking with family. They were beyond what we were expecting and will absolutely stay again!

Great place to stay for the Driftless 100 race (or any scenic bike ride)

Excellent location and super tidy. Futons could be a tad more forgiving (soft), but overall perfectly fit our needs!

Lovely spot

Great view of the river, loved the location to be able to easily walk all of downtown as well as the Riverwalk. Super cute decor and very welcoming. Everything was as advertised.

It is clear so much love and good taste went into the furnishings and decor of this unit. It was clean and pretty and the view of the river was really fun to have right outside your window. So centrally located, right on Main Street!

Great place in Elkader

We came up for a family reunion, and stayed here. Super cute place along the river, and close to all the wonderful things in Elkader. My only complaint was the best wasn’t the most comfy, but honestly not expecting the bed in one of these places to be perfect. But overall a great place and would highly recommend it.

Stay at the Mill on Main

This is a fabulous stay. Amazing renovation. Property manager is awesome to work with. We opened the windows and listened to the big dam at night. So tranquil. We will be back.

Suite on the river

I had a lovely stay in this clean, well appointed suite in a historic building with room windows overlooking the river. The suite is comfortable and warmly decorated. The town is quiet, quaint, and nestled in a valley below stunning river bluffs. I highly recommend this as a starting point for exploring northeastern Iowa.

Always a Pleasure

Joe and Nancy are great hosts and have done a wonderful job with renovations. I felt right at home in Doc Hummel's old office (Suite C), a place I visited many times growing up in Elkader. We will return.

Cozy and comfortable!

We booked all three suites for a family gathering in Elkader. The newly remodeled suites provided us with everything we needed right in the heart of town so we could walk nearly everywhere we planned to go. The decor of each suite is so charming, with a very cool vibe. We appreciated having a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave, lovely furnishings and bedding too. Communication with the owners was easy and quick. We are all looking forward to returning next year!

Perfect little place to stay for a few days

This appears to be a new option to the area and it’s just perfect. Looks like everything was newly renovated and they did an awesome job and were really thoughtful with the set up and little details. The view and sound of the river out the window is really peaceful. The location is great to go out and grab a cup of coffee and get some pastry’s first thing in the morning. The best bakery in Iowa is just across the street (get the glazed croissants!!!) FYI the bathroom includes a shower that is not shown in the pics.

Excellent - Will definitely stay again! Suite C

My husband and I wanted to plan a trip for our anniversary and to see the beautiful fall foliage. We found this adorable place in Elkader and it did not disappoint! The area is so beautiful and Elkader is a nice little town with shops and boutiques. There is also a coffee shop and bakery in town as well. The suite itself was very clean and smelled so nice when you walked in. I am a picky person when it comes to staying places and this place checked all of the boxes. It was so clean, the linens and towels smelled amazing, it overlooked the river and many beautiful trees. We just loved staying here and will definitely remember this place when we want to get away for the weekend again. It was very affordable and pleasant. I had even said we were getting away for our anniversary and when we arrived at the suite there was a bottle of wine and a lovely note waiting for us. So sweet! Don’t hesitate with this one, it’s perfect!
