Bearside Retreat - Come relax in your own private mountain getaway, where you'll feel the tranquility of being surrounded by nature, while still only minutes from downtown Black Mountain and Asheville. With almost 3 wooded acres to enjoy & explore, this brand new mountain home is perfect for a romantic retreat or just to enjoy with family and friends. Located only 1.5 miles from downtown Black Mountain and a short 15 minute drive to Asheville.

This vacation property offers beautiful indoor and outdoor areas to relax and entertain. Cozy up next to the stone fireplace in the vaulted great room, soak in the gorgeous mountain views from the large wrap-around deck or take a walk though the nearby Cheshire Village.

Built primarily as a space for us to escape, we've thoughtfully appointed Bearside Retreat with all the luxuries necessary to just relax and unwind. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a fully equipped kitchen, linens, washer/dryer, smart TVs, high speed Wi-Fi, two decks, and we're pet-friendly!

Whether you're seeking the outdoor adventure of nearby trails, exploring the city of Asheville or just breathing in the mountain air, we invite you to come enjoy quiet days and star filled nights in your private mountain retreat.


The driveway is somewhat steep, but it is now paved! We do still recommend AWD/4WD in times of winter weather.

Wildlife is active in this area and it is common to see black bears, deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife during your stay. While these animals and bear cubs in particular can be cute, please use caution and keep a safe distance.

This home is beautiful! Immaculate and stylish. It had every amenity we could need in the most gorgeous setting. The views from the deck were amazing and we had 3 bear spottings! The nearby town is so charming. We will definitely be back!

We appreciated all of the thoughtful extras for people and pets. The bears were very active during our stay trying but failing to get into the outside garbage can. We enjoyed catching glimpses of them during our stay.

Great stay at Bearside!

We had an amazing stay at Bearside. It was very clean and cozy and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. When we had questions, the host was very quick to respond and offer help!

Wonderful stay!

This is our second year coming and we had a wonderful time. The house was so clean and accommodating. We loved being near downtown Asheville. We even saw four black bears on the property! Will be coming back next year.

This home was in a beautiful location with wonderful balconies overlooking the forest. The games were fun to play! We even saw a mother bear & cubs from the porch. Thank you for providing coffee! The location is very close to Ingles and downtown Black Mountain. Beautiful!

Birthday weekend

We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate birthdays. We hiked Catawba Falls and Whiteside Mountain. Enjoyed this cozy modern cabin. It snowed while we were here, it was gorgeous. We would stsy here agsun

Christmassy cabin

The cabin is new, in perfect condition, and set in the woods with a gorgeous mountain view. The owners gave a lot of attention to detail in furnishings and comfort. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place

The property is brand new and so beautiful. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed our time inside and out. We had four adults and 2 kids and all fit very comfortably. I would recommend this property in a heartbeat!

Perfect mountain retreat!

This modern but cozy cabin is in a PERFECT location, minutes away from downtown black mountain and only about 20 min from Asheville. The cabin is brand new and in excellent shape. The owner put great care in the details, and we had everything we needed. The best part was the enormous wrap around balcony. We will definitely come again!

Perfect mountain getaway home

My family and I had a amazing stay at Bearside Retreat. It was so great being within a few minutes drive into town, yet also being in the middle of the beautiful mountain scenery. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We were even lucky enough to see a small black bear walking thru the backyard from the balcony! Kayla was a wonderful host and thought of all the details! We would love to stay here again next summer!

The cabin of our dreams!

Aesthetically speaking, it was the cabin of our dreams. The fireplace with that view is PERFECT! The house was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. The host was very attentive and quick to respond to any questions that may have arisen. The house is situated maybe 3min from Black Mountain’s grocery and restaurants. The cabin is only 20min away from downtown Asheville, which was extremely convenient. We cannot wait to come back and visit!

All the Extras and Brand New!

We were all so impressed with the cleanliness and coziness of our mountain retreat. The hosts truly thought of everything from the extra toothbrushes, sound machines, comfy blankets, and coffee/ tea. True pros! The location is super central to all the best things in Black Mountain. 10/10 recommend and will be back!

Great extended weekend in Asheville

Wow....this house exceeded all of our expectations.... a fabulous secluded location and just a very short drive to the town of Black Mountain (which is very cool). Everything you need is within a couple of minute drive. The house is new, very well appointed and very clean. The large lot provides a lot of privacy with a great fire pit for evening socializing in a natural setting. You can get to Asheville and all of it's amenities in about 15 easy minutes. We highly recommend this property........ we will definitely be back!!!!!!

Mountain Living At Its Finest!

The house is everything we could have expected and more. You walk in and you are greeted with a “new house smell,” which we are always fond of. Every detail was thought of in this home. And the home was immaculately clean. I am a bit of a clean nut and lookout for things like cobwebs or bugs and happy to say this house has neither. We enjoyed several evenings by the fireplace and enjoying the beautiful deck. Location to Ingles and downtown Black mountain could not be beat. You are in the mountains but literally 5 minutes from everything. Including the highway which takes you into prime locations like Asheville and the Biltmore. We were very impressed with the home, its location, privacy, and the overall experience. One thing to note, the house does sit on a steep hill. Our SUV without all wheel drive was able to maneuver without any issues, but with snow or ice, I would recommend AWD. We have shared the listing with several friends and family already. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Great Mountain Getaway

Our family of 4, and pup, enjoyed our stay at the Bearside Retreat very much. The property is in a fantastic location, as it gives you the beauty and blissfulness of the mountains while also just being a short drive away from the town of Black Mountain. The view of the mountains from the deck will be etched in my memory forever. The trail on the property provides a place to take dog walks, exercise, and exploring. The black bear family around the property provided our family much entertainment. They added to that "true" mountain experience that we were hoping for. The property is steep, be prepared for that. You will leave in better physical shape than when you arrived, yet another perk of the property! The house was perfect size for our family of 4 and pup. The master bedroom is upstairs, as the other two bedrooms are downstairs. We loved that the kids had one level of the house to themselves, and Mom and Dad had the other. The house was pristine upon our arrival. It was a great place to retreat to after a day on the trails and exploring. The sunset from the porch at night will keep you coming back for more. The town of Black Mountain was all we could have asked for and more. Before we left on our trip, we were telling everyone that we were going to Asheville. When we arrived in Black Mountain and discovered that they had a plethora of restaurants and shops, there was no need to ever go to Asheville. If you are a fan of that "small-town" feel, Black Mountain is your place
