Beautiful three room suite boasting exposed beams throughout await in this one bedroom, dog friendly unit with a living room and ensuite bathroom located on historic Spring St. The bedroom has a king size bed, pull out sofa in a separate living room, ample closet space, and large TV.

The suite comes equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, newly installed mini splits and more!. Book today!

While we want our guests to enjoy their privacy, we are also readily available for anything you might need, from extra towels to dinner recommendations. Just send us a message or give us a call.

Howland House, located at 205 Spring Street, is in one of the most best locations in Newport. You are a five minute walk to famous Newport landmarks such as: Bannisters & Bowens Wharf, Trinity and St. Mary's Church and The Black Pearl Restaurant. Truly, you are in the heart of it all with dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and sights right outside your door.

Hop in your car for a 10 minute drive to both the Ocean Drive and Bellevue Avenue Preservation Society Mansions.


Windward Suites properties are all keyless, and instead use keypad smart locks for all of the doors for both the buildings and units. All guests will receive an email the morning of their arrival with the instructions, codes to the doors and Wifi. Super easy!

Check-in time is anytime after 3:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Please be respectful of these times unless you have contacted us, as we have a cleaning crew who need the time to do a thorough job before and after all of our guests.

There are three on site parking spots which are on a first come first serve basis, there is a city lot on Church St a few blocks away and we have a lot on Oak St, by request only, which is a 5min walk away.


Howland House is a classic historic, four unit, building with the original construction dating back to 1750. It is one of Newport's oldest homes predating the Revolution. It has undergone many updates and renovations to bring new world comfort with an old world feeling.

Unit 15 is cozy and charming and in a prime downtown location. Located on the first floor, all three rooms in the suite are quite large, including the bathroom which has a walk in shower and soaking tub.

All of Windwards properties are professionally cleaned between guests and come outfitted in high end linens and towels.

Aside from the cleanliness of the space, it is in one of the most sought after locations in Newport. You are steps away from Thames Street, Bannisters & Bowens Wharf, St. Maryā€™s church, and endless restaurants, bars, and shopping.

Perfect location for a quick walk down to the avenue & the water as well as lovely shops on Spring St. Our unit was clean, cozy & charming with all amenities provided. The hosts were wonderful. A list was provided with suggestions of places to go in the area. Prompt response to any questions. An iconic updated place to stay in Newport. Will definitely be back! Wonderful spot!!

Me and my 2 friends stayed here for a holiday weekend and it was a wonderful experience! Very cute and perfect location! The bed itself was very comfortable and the pullout bed was also a great size. Would not recommend more than 4 people (2 to a bed) but was a great experience!

Perfect place and perfect location!

The property was beautiful. It had the Newport vibe and everything you needed. It's also in the ideal location- you are right by everything downtown without getting all the noise. We were able to park our car in the provided space and just walk to everything we needed! I would highly recommended and definitely stay there again myself.

Adorable

This apartment is so cute! We came up for a quick getaway on a rainy weekend and it was amazing to have such a cute warm place to stay! The bed, tub, and fireplace really made this stay amazing. It is an older building so be mindful the people above can be heard but that bed makes it all melt away! I highly recommend this place as itā€™s so comfortable and convenient!

Cute ā€œcottageā€ and great location. We got in late on Saturday afternoon and the parking spaces were taken, so had to find parking in the street. Loved being able to walk everywhere, including to the trolley.

Excellent location - park and go

Being able to park our car and walk everywhere was fantastic. The house was beautiful and clean. The bed was super comfy. Highly recommend this location. Do not expect a quiet night during the summer as Newport is hopping right into the wee hours. But if youā€™re looking to enjoy the downtown area and everything it has to offer like we were - this is the place to be!

Perfect for a couple, not for 3

The location was adorbs, the bed was awesome, so was the bathtub! Our issue, which we didnt notice in the photos, is that the door to the bedroom is a french door. Adorable, but unfortunate when you travel with a teen, or if 2 friends travelled together(the couch is a sleeper sofa). We were happy for this option, but wish we had noticed in the pics that privacy exists only in the bathroom.

Great experience - very nice apartment

This was a birthday getaway from MA. The place was as described, It was in a very convenient location in town and very quiet. We walked to town for food and to the wharf and some of the sites. The only thing that did not cooperate was the weather! We had a problem setting up the TV and after calling Matthew for directions he came over to set it up which was very kind of him. The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I would probably stay in the second floor next time - as an older building with wood floors even regular footsteps could be heard down below. Thank you for sharing this space in Newport. Hope to revisit.

Disapointing

Last year we had a magnificent experience. This time our stay was quite disappointing. In just one year the property is showing a good amount of deterioration and lack of upkeep (inside and out). Our room had no toilet seat lid, sink valve leaks, all the towels were musty, TV/remote did not work, pillows were horrible, pillow cases dirty. This is just to name a few. Glad to discuss my overall experience over a phone call.

Very convenient, comfortable lodging in Newport - walking distance to shopping, dining, and the ITHF. Well appointed with refrigerator, microwave, good internet, sofabed with linens, extra towels, robes and COFFEE (Keurig with plentiful Kcups). Had some issues with electrical in the unit, but apparently the city had been working in the area, so breakers for A/C and the very nice jetted tub needed to be reset. Owners were just a text message away, and they were very responsive and made sure everything was working very quickly. Parking can be challenging with 3 spaces 4 units, but this was worked out, with a quick call a convenient space was found. Very glad to stay here and enjoy a quieter time after the summer rush.
