Excellent unit, quite large with a separate bedroom/bathroom area and a separate kitchen/living area, along with full size washer and dryer. Good location 10 minute walk to the Stadium/Armory Metro station. Clean and well maintained, good communication with the owner.

Was great for trip needs. Place to park, close to transit stops (both metro and bus), and a king sized bed. Slight issue with cleaners arriving post check-in time but host was responsive to messaging about the problem. Zero issues with walking in neighborhood both, early morning and late at night. Know It is a basement unit in an old structure. Taller people might be uncomfortable with the lower ceiling and soffit areas. The areas with soffit might be an issue for people above 6’2” and the unit as a whole might be uncomfortable for people above 6’6”

With a few modifications this place would be rated as excellent. These have been mentioned in earlier reviews: shower curtain should be replaced, step stool to reach microwave, hooks for bathroom towels needed, and etc. The location was perfect for us, lots of towels supplied, coffee available. Cozy place!We enjoyed our stay.

What a cute property for budget accommodations. It was bigger than I expected and loved the King bed and comfortable sheets. The full capacity washing machine and dryer were also a great bonus.

Basement space was adequate based on host's listing. Parking pad was tight (1 car) but available. Bed was comfortable and shower temperature/pressure was good. Kitchen included coffee machine, tea kettle, toaster, refrigerator, and microwave. Wi-fi included. TV was small but functional for space. Front door entry was damaged and difficult to enter/exit. "Strong" odor when entering property. If you are looking for an experience that includes a "contact high" and want be tired from loud music from neighbors then look no further. I would not recommend for guests with children. Did not feel safe walking through surrounding neighborhood.

Describes no smoking or parties of guests, but neighbor's threw a party past quiet hours and smoke pot everyday that entered basement.

Economical but still cozy

Nothing fancy, but the bed was comfortable and having a kitchenette is always a huge plus for us, plus we enjoyed how close it was to the metro and trolley. Walkable to restaurants too

While the property was clean, there were many flaw. In no discussion was I told my entrance was in the back. Another guest staying in the main part of the home assisted me. It was very cramped, nowhere to cook if you wanted, nothing really in walking distance.

Great Stay in DC

This was a great property to spend time in DC. The property was within walking distance of public transit. Some of the surrounding homes had a bit of trash out, but no problems with the location otherwise. The only minor issue is the bathroom had a few spiders. Enjoyed my time here overall!

Clean, good spot

Clean and well-maintained, interesting and walkable neighborhood with accessible public transit. Only issue was very thin walls – we could hear every conversation above us. Still, if you're only there at night it's perfect.

Friends trip to DC

Love the location, super close to a nearby metro station so it made it very convenient. Nice place too and easy to get to, could use a new shower curtain and maybe a shower liner… the shower curtain was pretty gross to look at, looked like it was growing mold in a few spots. May consider putting the microwave on the counter somehow as I am pretty short and it was difficult to get to. Hosts were kind and gave an extended checkout.

Cozy place, loud pipes

The commodities were nice, helpful having kitchen utensils instead of having to buy plastic ones. Couch and bed were fairly comfortable, and bathroom was fairly spacious. I don’t know if it was the owners or the rs, but the pipes woke me up every morning between 5 and 7am, which was very displeasing.

Great place to crash in DC

Overall, the stay was very good. I was able to park for the entire trip and use my bike to easily get to the sights. The apartment was nice and had coffee and ice available. On-site laundry was convenient. I did have to contact the property owners a couple times and they promptly responded. Overall, I have to give 4/5 stars due to one issue that was mentioned to the property owners that will hopefully be taken care of before the next rental.

Overall the apartment was nice. Owner didn't give the key code until I asked. Also it was a little unclear how to get there. But you pull into the alley and park behind the house. There is enough space for one car.

Prior to being at the property hosts did not reply to questions, Vrbo did not have my reservation, toilet handle broken, had to flush from insidd the tank?? Off putting odor. To be fair, i'm a Vrbo newby and missed important emails. But the property was substandard, sorry.

Convenient Location with Essential Amenities & close to metro

I enjoyed my stay at this VRBO property, primarily due to its excellent proximity to the metro, making travel around the city a breeze. The inclusion of a washer and dryer was a welcome convenience for a comfortable and extended stay. Guests should be mindful of the back gate entrance, as there’s a spot where it’s easy to trip – a small caution for an otherwise lovely home. While the basement apt. offers many comforts, one should note that it comes with its historical quirks. The pipes, AC, and water heater can create noise, which might be a consideration for light sleepers. Additionally, taller visitors should be aware of the low ceilings. If you’re 5’10" or taller, you may find the space a bit snug. Overall, the basement apartment has a lot to offer, but it’s good to be prepared for these few idiosyncrasies.

Great stay

The property was within a few blocks of a metro station, which was very convenient. There was a full sized fridge, a small microwave, coffeemaker, and portable burners. Theres cookware, but no can opener. Theres also plenty of dishes and utensils, and some left overs from previous travelers like coffee, dry creamer and sugar. There is free parking in the back, near the entrance to the apartment. The bed was comfy and there was also a futon, but there were no extra blankets just pillows. My only complaints were the tankless water heater, which made a sound like someone vacuuming in the next room whenever the hot water was run. Also, being an old house the floors above are creaky. The upstairs of the house is seperate and gets rented out also, so there are people moving around and if heavy footed its even louder. The door that seperates them is not thick so if the upstairs residents are having a conversation near that door you can hear it plain as day. Overall, it was a good place to stay and was convenient for getting in and out of the city.

I'll Stay Here Again

When traveling to DC I have some "must haves" when choosing a rental property. 1. parking. I look for places that have a private parking space that is not street parking. This rental checked that box. The parking space is clearly marked. Others might have said they had issues finding the space but that is not the case. It is marked with a maker you would see on a road with the rental number. If coming from 19th Street past the metro, you can turn left at the light and then an immediate right. You will see the parking space labeled. If you pass the property, turn at the next left, then the next left, and you will see it clearly marked. 2. location. I always look for a place near Stadium Armory Metro. This neighborhood is safe and welcoming. The walk to the metro is .5 miles in a straight shot. Communication as excellent. Please understand that the renters are people just like you. Allow them time to read your message and respond. As a teacher, my rule of thumb is 24 hours to allow someone to respond. The bed was AMAZING! The water had no smell unlike some other places I have stayed at in DC. I was there for five nights. I can't wait to book again!

I stayed with two of my daughters. We fit just fine but for longer stays it would be more comfortable with just two people. Listing is exactly like described and is appropriately priced. Hosts responded to messages before, during, and after stay promptly. Location was very convenient. 5 min walk to metro

Expect similar amenities and cleanliness as in an old highway motel. There were cockroaches in the bathroom along with a moldy shower curtain, active mouse traps set up in one closet, very dirty windows, plastic bottles and soda cans discarded in front of the front window (which is directly at the view level), broken plastic blinds on the back window, and some of the furniture was broken or dirty. You are sleeping in the same room where the furnace for the entire house is located - it is very loud, especially when you try to sleep, and you have no control over it. Very loud and noisy neighbors. There is a washer and dryer, but no detergent. Good location, 3 minutes from the bus station and 10 minutes from the subway. We never felt unsafe, and we went to and from the public transportation at all hours, including after dark. I would not book this property again.
