Welcome to the lower level of this cozy log cabin nestled in the heart of the Aska Adventure Area! While the cabin itself is not directly on the river, it offers the best of both worlds: peaceful forest surroundings and quick access to the Toccoa River. A short, scenic 3-minute walk down the stairs, through the woods and across Aska Road brings you to a riverside deck where you can relax, fish, or simply enjoy the view.

Privacy & Hosts

From October to mid May, we (Jane and I) live in the upper portion of the cabin with our two small dogs. The rental unit is completely separate and private. We're happy to assist with local tips or questions during your stay. The rest of the year, we’re in Montana—but plans may shift depending on fire season. Either way, your comfort and privacy are always our top priority.

Kitchen Note

The unit does not have a conventional oven, but it includes a convection microwave, griddle, hot plate and crock pot. Also a propane BBQ and griddle combo. With great restaurants just minutes away, you might not want to cook at all—after all, you’re on vacation!

Before leaving, please put the towels and sheets in the washer and start a load.

Scott and Jane are wonderful hosts. The accommodations are perfect, very clean and welcoming. It is located perfectly for many beautiful sights, hikes and bites. We enjoyed Aska trails, Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, Sandy bottoms for fishing and Mercier Orchard for strawberry picking/eating in May.

This is my second time here. The hosts are easy to work with, the place is everything advertised and more. The location is good as far as access to area sites. The locals are very friendly. Rustic and cozy describe this cabin. It has everything you may need and more. We will be back later this year.

The host was very welcoming and friendly. Love the area. Very secluded and quiet. The Iron Bridge Cafe has amazing breakfast and the restaurant down the street is amazing. Was absolutely perfect for me and my wife !

We had a wondering time - the location is perfect for most of the day trips you’d like to take in the area. The hot tub was a big hit with us and our daughter. Everything was tidy and clean - we did struggle without a full kitchen, but knew that was the case based on the listing, just something to consider if you like cooking for yourself. The beds were comfortable and the bunk bed was also a hit with our daughter. We could see the Toccoa River from the porch which was lovely and the cafe and gem mining place were easily within walking distance and everyone was very kind. We had the pleasure of meeting both Scott and Susan and they were lovely and wonderful hosts. Overall we loved it - if we’re ever back in the area we would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was excellent for what we wanted to do. I did some fishing in the Toccoa river and actually caught a few trout. The residence was clean and well kept. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We do live upstairs with our two little dogs, and while we try our best to keep things quiet in the early mornings, I understand how the footsteps and dog rustlin’ around could’ve carried through. Cabin life has its charms, but it sure can let sound travel more than we’d like. I truly appreciate you bringing it to my attention. We’re already looking at a few ways to soften things up so future guests can enjoy that good, peaceful mountain rest we want everyone to have. Owners live in the upstairs, which was nice because they were immediately responsive to a small issue. Just a few minutes from town, easy access to cabin on good roads, which is not always the case in the mountains! Cozy and comfortable.

"Jane and I recently reclaimed ownership of the cabin, which she had sold to someone else several years ago. We’re particularly fond of the area for several reasons:
Convenient Amenities: We love that we can easily walk to the Iron Bridge Cafe and general store for breakfast, lunch, or supplies.
Natural Beauty: Just upstream, the Sandy Bottoms recreation area provides excellent fishing access along the river.
Proximity to Blue Ridge: The cabin is only 9 miles away from downtown Blue Ridge.
Outdoor Adventures: Additionally, our cabin is conveniently close to two fantastic trails:
Falls Trail: This scenic trail leads you through lush forests, past cascading waterfalls, and offers breathtaking views.
Swinging Bridge Trail: Experience the thrill of crossing the Toccoa River on the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River. The serene surroundings en route to the bridge make it a delightful hike..
And when we’re not exploring, the Toccoa River Restaurant, just a few minutes away, remains our go-to spot for enjoying craft beers during Happy Hour."

Rocky River Retreat has a generator that turns on automatically in case of power outages. Power outages can be frequent here in North Ga. Very close to two places to eat. Iron Bridge Cafe and Toccoa River Restaurant. Also a short walk to Blue Ridge Tubing, Gem Mining and the Toccoa River.
