Family focused lakeside rental on Gardner Lake in East Machias, ME! Sleeps 13, with living, sitting, and kids rooms! Large wrap around deck with grilling and plenty of seating to relax and overlook the lake. Outside games available, including cornhole, ladder golf, and lawn jenga. Property is lakefront but on a shallow cove. Town boat landing and swimming is 1.5 miles away on Chase Mills Road. Sunrise Trail is less than 2.5 miles away. Great central location for Downeast Maine activities, roughly 35 minutes to Quoddy Head Lighthouse and State Park, 25 minutes to the Roque Bluffs State Park and Beach, 20 minutes to Jasper Beach, 40 minutes to Campobello Island, and 55 minutes to the St. Stephen Border Crossing.

The house was exactly as described, clean, and well stocked. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wildlife in the lake. Excellent place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We enjoyed the many state parks that are about a 30 minute drive from the house.

This was a great home and location for our first visit to Maine. Easy drive to Lubec, Calais, Eastport, Machiasport and many other locations. As wonderful as the photos and description may be, it is actually better! Lots of attention to the small things that make traveling easier. And as many others have said, sitting on the porch was very relaxing. Communication with Lucas was easy and prompt and without a doubt I would stay here again and highly recommend.

This place was perfect. That porch over looking the lake and the stars. Lots of wildlife to see. The house is perfect, stocked with all the essentials and more then I’ve ever had in a vrbo stay. The cabin is far enough away to be quiet, but close to all the essentials. I’ve been to Machias area a million times, this was the best visit yet. I’ve already booked my week for next year. Next year Im hoping to see a moose.

Lucas’s home was perfect for our 3 generation family vacation. We felt at home from the moment we arrived and it had everything we needed for our stay. Our group of 11 adults had plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the porch immensely. The home was located within reasonable driving distance to many great locations for hiking, whale watching, and dining. We are most meals at the house and it had everything we needed to prepare and serve our food.

This house is the perfect place to stay in Maine. Situated by the lake on a quiet road, it is beautiful and peaceful. The house is clean, spacious and comfortable. My kids said it felt like a "home away from home" and I agree. The game room was perfect for my boys. My daughters loved the reading nook upstairs. One of my favorite spots was the covered porch that overlooks the yard towards the lake. I would probably have spent more time just sitting on that porch (I did take a couple of naps out there) if I had more time. The yard is beautifully laid out - a firepit to one side of the nicely mown grass with a path leading to the lake. The trees and native plants growing around the yard are simply beautiful. This property is private and peaceful. We went kayaking and made s'mores in the firepit. We visited Acadia a couple of days, but my kids absolutely loved the closer, quieter Jasper Beach. We went at low tide - this rock beach has an incredible variety of gorgeous rocks that my kids enjoyed discovering, and they even took lots of pictures of the rocks to remember. It was a foggy, overcast evening, which added to the charm. Communication with the host, Lucas, was quick and easy. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely return.

Another great time!

This was my third time renting this property. This time my daughter and her family joined me. It was a great chance to hike and get out on the water in the kayaks provided. S'mores around the campfire at night and coffee on the covered porch in the morning were wonderful experiences. We look forward to returning.

Family vacation

This is our second year staying at the Morris lake house. We love getting out of the Florida heat and relaxing on the lake. The grandkids love kayaking and fishing. The area is so full of nature. Last year we had moose and deer wander the property. This year we watched a pair of ducks visit every day as well as a beaver. We had several deer make their way through the woods. It is so peaceful just to sit out on the covered porch even in the rain. The house has plenty of space so with 8 of us we were never crowded. We will be booking again for next year.

Family summer vacation

The home was spacious and perfect for our family of teenage & young adult kids! Plenty of space to spread out or gather together. The porch was a treat! The kids (age 13-25) even had an epic game of hide and seek in the house one evening.

Lovely Lake Getaway

The house was exactly as shown and is gigantic. There were just two of us but it would be perfect for a party of 10 or more. The deck was lovely to sit out on in the morning and evening as it had a serene lake view. The home had everything you could want from pots and pans, kayaks, games and a lovely welcome gift. It's a close drive to a few restaurants and shops which we frequented each evening.We would absolutely stay here again and the hosts were a delight, too.

This house is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. We loved the calmness and beauty of the lake from the comfort of our kayaks. We visited Acadia National Park and Quoddy Lighthouse. The town is quaint and quiet. Had no problems finding amazing seafood in the area as well. Thanks for all the recommendations!

Long weekend

My extended family stayed for three nights. We all enjoyed the house; the youngest was 20 and the oldest was 88. There was enough room for us to spread out, and the property was equipped with all the comforts that we needed. It was just what we needed.

Work Trip / Family Vacation

My husband had to work in Machias, so we had the opportunity to stay in this spacious house with our four kids. Although the weather wasn't ideal, we hardly noticed because the house was filled with an abundance of games, puzzles, and movies! We had a blast the entire time we were there. I also appreciated the decor and especially loved the cozy quiet spots where I could escape with a good book.

Perfect Spot

The Morris lake house was exactly what we needed for our trip. Perfect location of the main roads and on the lake. Ver impressed with all of the accommodations. Always a relief when you forgot all the kitchen things like a bag or parchment paper. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of room. One of the best VRBO houses we have stayed at. Lucas and Evonn responded in seconds with any questions. Couldn’t be happier.

Best VRBO ever

With an East facing (catch the sunrise) porch suitable for more than a dozen adults and enclosed for infants, I would grab this property to stay with friends anytime we are in the area. Owners have provided lots of the amenities. There is a lake view from the huge porch, fire circle and even kayaks. The house has excellent bedroom and living spaces. Great kitchen and even a kids playroom. Property is secluded but not too far from things. I would take this property any day over other coastal properties we visited. We counted and realized this place could sleep up to 14 people in beds so not including any sofas, foldouts or porch hammock which I enjoyed one night. Don’t miss this one.

Maine Wedding

Had a wonderful time! The house was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of space as well as quiet. My 8 year old niece loves the toys in the play room which was a plus and although we didn’t get to use them, having the kayaks were and awesome extra! The personalized sign and the bag of goodies was a wonderful surprise. Would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Stay for Family of 10

We were so impressed with this rental home! Spacious and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The lake was gorgeous, we went out paddling every sunny day. The mud to get into the lake is a little extreme, but worth the effort of squelching through. If the drive wasn’t so long for us, I’m sure we would be returning. Highly recommend this home!!
