Whispering Pines mountain home

About this space
Find relaxation and refreshment for the whole family at our mountain getaway, located in a quiet rural subdivision with George Washington National Forest access. Our property features mature forest, a stream, hiking trails, and frequent wildlife sightings. Harrisonburg, JMU, and EMU are a 20 minute drive.
The space
The main floor of our house is handicap accessible through the garage. All doorways and hallways on the main floor are wide enough for wheelchair access. The garage is available for parking.

SMOKING: No smoking indoors.

TV/WIFI/PHONE SERVICE: Our location is in a bit of a "dead" spot when it comes to connectivity. Any device that uses the Verizon network should work great; AT&T probably will not. We have a smart TV screen and WiFi. There is no TV service.

PETS: We have a firm “no pets in the house” policy. You are welcome to have pets outdoors, but they must be crated or tied when unattended. Please clean up after your pets.

WINTER ACCESS: Our property is located on a mountain and sections of the driveway are steep. In snowy or icy conditions, four-wheel drive may be required.

Family Mountain Retreat

My family had a wonderful time at Whispering Pines. The beautiful atmosphere had us all ready to pack up and permanently move to the mountains. 10/10 would go back! 10/10 recommend!

A wonderful experience, so many personal touches. Everything we needed was provided. Beautiful scenic wilderness view and a clean comfortable roomy home. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Wonderful hostess who responded immediately to any questions we had. We will be back.

This Place is Amazing!!!!

This place is practically brand new. The owners are very nice and just wanted us to enjoy our stay. It's nice quiet place to relax. I would definitely stay at Whispering Pines again.

Wonderful Getaway

This is a beautiful home that's fairly new and sparkly clean and inviting. The hosts were wonderful -- having a loaf of freshly baked bread waiting for us and being very responsive. The house is in a wooded area, and it felt very peaceful. We enjoyed the sitting area in front and out back along with the hot tub. It was an easy drive into town for activities. We were lucky to book this great place for our getaway.

We came for a conference in the area and spent evenings at this house. The road in was quite rutted (June visit) and caught the bottom of our low car several times. They did grade it the second day and that helped. The hot tub was lovely, listening to the whippoorwills, the woods outside the bedroom window, and the fresh cookies were all highlights. The main area is larger than pictures infer. Thank you Kendra, you have the gift of hospitality!

We visited the area to go skiing at Massanutten which is about 50 minutes away. The house appears to be brand new, had everything we needed in it & more. The host had wood for the fire pit, we used the grill every night & enjoyed using the hot tub & playing some of the family games that were stored upstairs. Very secluded and quiet - just what we needed for a nice weekend get away with family.

Quiet Getaway in the Woods

Place was beautiful and well laid out. The host Kendra was very responsive with any questions. Hot tub was great and they even supplied firewood for an outdoor fire, (we ended up not using) Nice sitting areas on both front and back porches. Beds were comfortable and the place was super, super clean. Not many neighbors. If you like a quiet pretty place in the woods, this fits the bill!

Great getaway!

The setting is so private and serene and the house was perfect! A plate of fresh baked cookies was waiting for us when we arrived and Kendra was readily available when we reached out to her with a question. The house was very clean and cozy and well equipped with everything we might need during our stay. The fall leaves were gorgeous and we all enjoyed visiting the coffee shops, thrift/antique stores and farmers market in town. Family members from FL, TN & NY spent 6 days together here and it was a great place for us to catch up and make new memories!

OUR LATEST VISIT

This was our third visit to Whispering Pines and all the positive things I said before still apply. The rental is very well equipped for us to cook all our meals. Showers had plenty of hot water and the beds were comfortable. The ping pong table was used constantly and the area provided hours of quiet, relaxed walks for all. The space provided lots of room for all six of us to feel comfortable. The porch has the perfect amount of sun and the jacuzzi was fun. Visits from the owner's family dog Jessie were a hit, especially with our granddaughters. I highly recommend this rental when visiting the Harrisonburg, VA area.

A wonderful time

We just had the best time. House was immaculately clean. Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen was well stocked. Generous sized front and back porches. We couldn't have asked for anything better on our long weekend. Whatever I asked of the host they were there in no time at all with answers. We would absolutely go back. 5 star all the way around.

Even better the second time

My wife and I and our daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters enjoyed three days again at Whispering Pines. This is our second time, and we found everything just as special as the last time. The kitchen is well equipped so that we prepare all our meals there. Bedrooms are comfortable and the living room/ dining room area allowed for games to be played at the table and for folks to read or chat comfortably in the living room. Table tennis in the garage was a big hit and the outdoor jacuzzi was perfect. We did not use the fire pit or outside gas grill but both were there for use including a good-sized stack of hardwood. As anticipated, the cute dog named Jessie regularly visited to the delight of all. I would highly recommend folks stay at Whispering Pines.

Whispering Pines is Outstanding

My wife and I rented Whispering Pines and our daughter and family joined us there. Kendra was responsive and very easy to contact. The house was spotless and provided everything to keep teenagers and adults very happy for three days. The ping pong table was in use almost constantly and the jacuzzi was perfect. We cooked all our meals there and found the kitchen very well-equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were set up very well and the showers were hot and relaxing. The porch provided an enjoyable space to sit in the sun and relax. The gas stove kept us warm as the days got colder. There are lots of storage closets. We took advantage of the new washer and dryer with laundry detergent provided. I would highly recommend this home.

Whispering Pines

This property is wonderful!! The owners have gone out of their way to make sure guests have everything they may need staying there. Such as pots and pans, cooking utensils and gadgets. I pack some of those things to bring with me when booking VRBO properties and did not need to use them. I just cannot say enough about how great it is to be in this area where the property is. You feel like you are “off the grid” but in a good way and town is only about 30 minutes away. Host was available if needed. One last thing. Lock box on door was so much better than having to keep track of a key. I could go on and on but once you book the Whispering Pines property you will know what I mean. Thank you Kendra!!

32nd Wedding Anniversary Getaway.

We had a very memorable time in your beautiful cabin. The cabin would be big enough for our family of 5, since it has 2 additional rooms & a bath upstairs. A lovely vacation getaway!! Fortunately, it was the perfect place for just the two of us to spend our 32nd Wedding Anniversary together. The lower level was perfectly laid out. My wife is disabled & uses a cane, so having access to all the rooms we needed on the 1st floor was great!!! The open space of the kitchen, dining room, & familyroom with so many windows made the inside of the cabin so much more spacious. With the bedroom, bathroom & laundry room not far on the same level made it so convenient. The bathroom is of nice size and beautifully decorated. There's just a shower stall, and silly us, we forgot to bring her shower stool...hahaha. My wife said it was just the excitement of being able to get away after 7 kids & this only being our 2nd honeymoon. We don't get out much. Can you tell? A beautiful immaculate property, fully stocked with everything you would need to enjoy this property. Plenty of towels for use with the hot tub, lots of wood stacked for the fire pit and so much more. Really like that the light switches were labeled. It was the little things like this that just helped to make it that much more perfect.
