Concerns About Privacy and NeighborsThe host was wonderful—quick, friendly communication, a well-stocked house, and comfortable beds.Within 24 hours of arriving, we noticed that the house next door seemed to have a different living arrangement than a typical residential home. A quick search revealed that the property was owned by a nonprofit and operated as transitional housing for formerly incarcerated men.We specifically chose this home for its large backyard, reviews describing it as great for families with young children, and beautiful sliding glass doors overlooking the yard. Unfortunately, these features became drawbacks once we learned about the home next door.Someone was in the neighboring backyard much of the time we were home, with a direct view into our kitchen and dining room. With no curtains or blinds on the large glass doors, we had little privacy. We also stopped letting our three young children play in the backyard. To be clear, nothing threatening happened, and we had no direct issues with the neighbors. However, the situation made us uncomfortable for the remainder of our stay and significantly limited our enjoyment of the property.Had we known about the neighboring transitional housing before booking, we would have chosen another home. I believe this is important information for other families to have when considering this property.
