Experience Wilmington while staying in this perfectly charming home in a location that is very convenient to many attractions; especially if you are filming at Screen Gems.

This home is PET FREE. We offer over the top guest services and take great pride in our very clean and neat home, on the inside and the outside.
The bed linens, comforters, and towels are always freshly sanitized with a luxurious feel and delightful light fragrance. We love to 'wow' our guests with special seasonal surprises such as fresh flowers, herbs and other wonderful treats as well. Relax on the back porch, where you'll find rocking chairs, a comfy Southern swing and the great outdoors in a very private well-manicured setting.

You'll know the minute you enter the old-English circular stone drive that many more luxurious details await. Nestled discreetly behind 60 year old azaleas and crape myrtle trees you will also enjoy total privacy in the large, serene fenced backyard where something is always blooming in the garden. The birds love it!

The beautiful colors and tasteful furnishings will delight you and uplift your spirit as will the skylights, a gourmet gas cook-top, lots of black granite and carerra marble throughout and original hardwood floors that a man cut from trees off of his farm for his daughter over sixty years ago.

The master suite affords privacy with high transome windows and is superbly equipped with a jacuzzi tub and direct access to lanai and garden, where the morning sun will greet you like an old friend each morning.

Southern Charm at the Beach

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming house. (I have to admit it looks better in person.) It was only about 10-15 min from the beach, which was perfect since we weren't interested in dealing with the hustle and bustle of the beach crowed.

Southern Charm at it's BEST!!

I stayed at the 'Southern Gem' from May-August and it was a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!! I felt right at home. It was peaceful and quiet. I especially enjoyed the Jacuzzi Tub and the Master Bath in general was luxuriously relaxing! The back porch/yard was great for entertaining and very private. I had family come and visit and there was plenty of room for everyone and the upstairs TV space was a great place to hang out. You can feel the 'LOVE' that owners Leigh and Jeff have put into the place. They are attentive if there is a problem but totally give you your space. I'd stay there again in a minute!

Amazing Hospitality, Gorgeous Property, Highly Recommend

My family and I stayed at this lovely oasis of a home at the tail end of a beach vacation. We wanted to extend our stay in the area and explore Wilmington and found this hidden gem. Let me say that I am extremely picky about where I stay and I expect a certain level of luxury and cleanliness. This property did not disappoint! The owner, Leigh, was responsive at every turn. She helped me book the property last minute and met us at the property to walk us through and make us feel comfortable. As phenomenal as this house is, I think Leigh is even better - she is an absolute delight to work with, I felt as though I had made a lifelong friend! The house is perfectly equipped with everything you need from a well-appointed (and gorgeous) kitchen, to comfortable bedding a towels, to the most relaxing backyard oasis you will ever find. We were all sad to leave and can't wait to return. I highly recommend this property and owner for people like me who want to stay somewhere that is as nice (or nicer!) than your own home and really want to relax while you're out of town. A big thank you to Leigh for all of her hospitality and dinner recommendations, we can't wait to stay at her beach house next!

Read the Fine Print, Review Your Bill, and Look at the "To Do" List

The property itself was lovely, and communicating with the owner was relatively easy; however, we just realized that we were overcharged for our stay. The listing permits 4 guests without an extra fee; we booked for 3 guests, and we asked to add a fourth. The owner originally quoted us a price for the additional guest, but we pointed out that the terms of her property permit four guests without an additional fee, and we thought we would not be charged. When I returned to review our VRBO bill, I realized that we were indeed charged an "extra guest fee" for having 4 individuals in a 3-bedroom residence. Additionally, the property requires a deposit, and the listing provides that you will not have your deposit returned -- even in the absence of damage to the property -- unless you complete a litany of housekeeping tasks, including doing laundry and remaking beds from which the sheets have been stripped (which defies logic). Again, the property was fine; my hesitation in recommending this property is related to the management.

The house is roomy and housed our family of five very comfortably. The rooms are well appointed, natural light touches every room including skylights in a number of rooms, the beds were comfortable for all, and kitchen served all our needs. Our kids enjoyed the upstairs children's suite. We visited during a cold period so we could not enjoy the backyard and deck, but could see it looked like a wonderful place to grill out in the warmer months. No shortage of TVs and the system provided access to NetFlex, and Hulu, which we all enjoyed on the on-demand programming. If we decide to head back to Wilmington again, will definitely see if this place is available again.

Private and Peaceful!

My husband and I were so pleased with our choice of this very special home. This home has been lovingly created and cared for. It seemed every possible need, had already been thought about. We especially loved the backyard Oasis, and fully equipped kitchen. Leigh is so personable, and certainly provided a special experience for our anniversary. Special touches found throughout the home! Highly recommend!

It truly was our home away from home.

A great vacation starts with the selection of a great vacation house! This treasure is nestled in a tranquil setting that lends itself to a fairy tale cottage. Leigh met us at the door when we arrived. Her smile and vibrant personality as she welcomed us in told me we'd definitely made the right choice. The house is spotless, very spacious and the decor is nothing short of stunning....it surpassed all my expectations. The kitchen is a dream, the master bathroom is luxurious, the upstairs nook provides the perfect place for family movie night and the rocking chairs on the large back porch are perfect for relaxing after a full day. The location is perfect for either a day at the beach or an afternoon in the historic district. Leigh and her husband have created more than a vacation house.....it's truly a home. Leigh did an excellent job of accommodating my family for our trip. I guarantee that you will not find another house in the area that has been maintained to the standard of this property. From the superb layout to the back porch you really cant go wrong with this home. Leah does a great job taking care of this house, and you will certainly be proud to call this your home during your stay.

SIMPLY THE BEST!!! ❤️

I lived in this wonderful house for 4 months. It is an absolute dream. It is spacious, light and airy, beautiful interiors and has the most comfortable beds you will ever sleep in. The back porch and garden is like a piece of heaven that has a swing sofa that is perfect for snoozing on or reading in the shade. The kitchen has everything you can possibly need and has two cookers, one gas one electric, so is a cooks dream! The house is in a perfect location that is close driving distance to Downtown (7 mins) and an easy route to Mayfair for shopping and the Beaches. There is ample space in the drive for up to 3 cars, oh and Port City Java is really close for your morning coffee. Lastly, like the property itself, the hospitality is unbeatable. Leigh and Jeff were the most incredible hosts. Such love and care goes into making your stay perfect. Would be difficult to find anywhere that matches how special your stay will be here. Thank you Leigh and Jeff. I will be back! Polly P

Could not have been more perfect.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful home while in town for our daughters graduation from UNCW. It was so warm and inviting, impeccably decorated, and not at all stiff or stuffy. The property was spotless in and out, and was clearly well kept by a very deserning host family. Leigh went out of her way to accommodate our plans, and attend to our every need both before, and after our arrival. The beds were comfortably adorned with rich linens. The seating both up stairs and down, was relaxing and easy to cosy up in. The detail of the architectural moldings make this home special, and the kitchen design was equally impressive. The back porch and yard are just icing on the cake, private but easily accessable from the office, kitchen or the master, it was just perfect for enjoying a morning coffee, or an evening glass of wine. This was our first experience renting a property, instead of staying in a hotel, and we are hooked. This property sets the bar so very high, it will be hard, if not impossible to beat.

"Gorgeous Home, Quiet Hideeaway!"

"We spent 5 months in this gorgeous home July-November 2014. It was a perfect quiet hide-away for us. We were there shooting the series Secrets and Lies. It was great being so close to the studio and yet tucked away with absolute privacy. The house is gorgeous! Beautifully decorated. Great garden. Awesome Getaway!

This place is amazing! So beautifully decorated. Such attention to detail. So clean & comfortable. A beautifully remodeled home in historical Wilmington with all the modern conveniences. I hope to be back at the end of the summer & will certainly tell my friends about this treasure! Leigh was so helpful too! She bent over backwards to ensure our stay was enjoyable.

This place is a collaborative work of art!

It is hard to add to the glowing reviews that this lovely, cozy, elegant, welcoming home has already gotten. But we could say they are all true! My husband and I found out firsthand when we stayed for a State tennis tournament. When we first arrived, we had little time to get something to eat and get to the first match. Leigh was so helpful in getting us all the information we would need and letting us know how things worked around the house. It was so wonderful to come back to this amazing place where we could totally relax and rest well for the next day's challenges. Clearly, the owners have a knack for making a house feel more like a home. They have done a tremendous job of thinking of virtually anything that might give you comfort or enjoyment. The love and creative attention they have given this place truly makes it something special. It really is a gem!

Amazing home with lots of luxury amenities and perfect location

I hadn't visited Wilmington much in the past, but after staying at this house I'm already planning my next visit... just to stay at this house again! The location was perfect -- very quiet road (unlike the Wrightsville/Landfall area), yet convenient to both the beach/Mayfaire areas and downtown; it's right off the bypass highway that turns into Eastwood so it only took us 5-10 minutes to get to the Mayfaire shops. There were lots of great restaurants nearby too. As for the home itself, I'd say it was a "home away from home" but that would be an understatement because it was BETTER than my home... the owners have truly put their heart and soul into making this house perfect. Starting with the outside, this home appears stately as soon as you pull into the half-circle driveway and walk along the brick path up to the front door... lots of mature trees and beautifully landscaped yard. Inside, the fixtures and amenities are very upscale... I usually stay at a luxury hotel or resort, but this home actually exceeded my expectations in every respect. There was a gourmet kitchen with two stovetops and everything we needed to cook at home, and the appliances were top-of-the-line (it made us WANT to cook instead of eat out!) Nothing was missing in the home -- 3 beautifully outfitted bedrooms and the baths and linens were luxurious. Incredible master suite with lots of closet space and a spa-like bathroom (with an oversized whirlpool tub!). The furniture throughout the house was antique and one of my favorite amenities was the fireplace with gas logs. I'm looking forward to staying in the warmer months because the back porch was spacious and cozy with furniture and a swing. I'd highly recommend this property for any family (or just a romantic getaway for two).

Southern Jewel (Brian, Oakville, Ont; Canada)

Our family spent a week at this wonderful luxury home in July 2011, our party consisted of five adults and one child aged eight. The home exceeded all our expectations, was exactly as described, Jeff has done a fantastic remodeling job and Leigh has great taste with the decor and furnishings. We particularly enjoyed the lanai and the privacy of the fenced yard. The home is located a short drive to down town Wilmington where we enjoyed the River Front Historic District, Battle Ship North Carolina, restaurants and shopping, also other attractions in the area such as Wrightsville Beach (kid loved the beach) NC Aquarium and Mayfair Shopping Centre. We played Wilmington Municipal GC (Donald Ross design), very challenging, also North Carolina National GC a very nice Fred Couples signature course, great deal at $31.50 for 18 holes with a golf cart. Leigh responded promptly to all communications (e-mail/cell phone), was at the house to welcome us and show us around, also had plenty of brochures on things to do in the area. We have stayed at a number of private homes while on vacation in different locations; this was by far the best, highly recommended.

Hello there! I'm Jeff and here is a picture of my beautiful wife of 33 years, Leigh. Also, our 22 year old son, Skyler, who graduated from Woodberry Forest School in Virginia in 2011 and will be graduating from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va in May 2016!

We are both from Salisbury, NC and now reside at Holden Beach, NC when we are not in Wilmington.

Wilmington is one of North Carolina's most exceptional cities. Settled on the Cape Fear River and just minutes to the ocean...Wilmington has a rich history of accomplishments and a vibrant and utterly-southern culture. Wilmington offers so many attractions, you can be sure there is something special to discover for everyone.

We stumbled across this property several years ago and something told me to remodel this house...I did so as a trubute for my wife, who deserves the best. Back then, it was quite a jalopy...and now...I consider this particular remodeling venture an accomplishment of a lifetime. It became more than just a remodeling project. It became an artistic expression and a monumental statement that says, 'You can do much more than you think you can' especially when you put all of your creativity, all your heart, and all your love into it.

Visit Mayfair Shopping Center...the award winning development with you can do plenty of upscale shopping and choose from a great variety of restaurants. Mayfair is where we bring our guests and it's our favorite place to go to the movies. : )

Wilmington's famous Azalea Festival will celebrate it's 64th year in 2011 from April 6-10. The Festival is a celebration of Wilmington’s exceptional artwork, gardens, rich history and culture during its five days of entertainment that includes: a parade, street fair, circus, concerts, pageantry, and all that is Southern.
