Cozy & Peaceful 3BR Retreat – Porch, Creek Sounds & Wildlife Views
Welcome to Peace of PA — a cozy, peaceful retreat where families, friends, and pets can relax together in comfort. Built in 1906, this house has been in our family for four generations, and it carries that mix of antique charm and modern comfort that makes it feel like home the moment you walk inside.
The Space
The home is designed for families and groups, with flexible sleeping arrangements for up to 10 guests.
* Master Bedroom (upstairs): King bed with a new hybrid mattress, plus a desk workspace for those who need a quiet spot to check in with work.
* Second Bedroom: Full-size bed, perfect for another couple or older kids.
* Third Bedroom: Two twin beds, a great fit for kids or friends.
* Additional Sleeping: A queen air mattress, a twin air mattress, and a foldable 4-inch memory foam mattress, with extra sheets and blankets provided.
The living room has a comfortable sofa with chaise and an antique chair, plus carpeted floor space if kids want to spread out with toys, puzzles, or a movie night. Right next door, the dining room table seats six comfortably for family meals, games, or catching up after a day of exploring.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen is well-stocked with all the basics (and then some) for preparing meals at home. You’ll also find a propane grill outside for those summer evenings when nothing beats burgers or hot dogs with a view of the woods.
Bathrooms
There is one full bathroom on the second floor and an additional toilet and sink in the basement. A note about the main bathroom: it’s small and quirky — a retrofit from when the home was built without indoor plumbing. Taller guests may find the vanity close to the toilet, but it’s fully functional and stocked with towels, toiletries, and unscented laundry soap (so you can pack lighter).
Outdoor Space
* Front Porch: Spacious and shaded — the perfect spot for morning coffee while listening to the creek.
* Back Porch: A practical “mud room” area for dogs or extra storage, with peaceful views of the trees.
* Yard: Plenty of space for kids to play or for sledding in winter (sleds provided).
* Parking: Room for multiple vehicles, including trailers if you’re bringing ATVs for Rock Run Recreation Park.
Pet-Friendly
We welcome pets! Dog bowls, towels for muddy paws, and treats are provided to make travel easier. Please register your pets when booking ($25 fee). Pets must stay off the furniture and be cleaned up after in the yard.
Cat guests are also welcome, but please take care to protect our furniture and curtains from claws (you know your pets best).
Location & Things To Do
Our home feels private and wooded, but you’re just minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and local attractions. Guests often spend afternoons visiting nearby family, attending local events, or exploring the area:
* Prince Gallitzin State Park (23 min): Picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, and hiking trails.
* Ghost Town Trail: A beautiful walking and biking trail built along a historic rail line.
* Rock Run Recreation Park (15 min): Miles of ATV trails.
* Johnstown Children’s Museum (35 min): Interactive exhibits for kids.
* Seasonal Fun: In winter, kids can sled in the yard; in summer, explore local festivals and fairs.
We’re also within driving distance of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (35 min) and St. Francis University (25 min) — perfect if you’re in town for a graduation, sports event, or family visit.
Guest Info & House Rules
* Rate includes 2 guests; $10 per person per night for additional guests (up to 10 total).
* Please register all guests and pets in your booking.
* No smoking or vaping inside. Smoking is allowed on the front porch if all butts are disposed of properly.
* No shoes inside (light-colored carpet). A boot tray and towels for pets are provided.
* Please respect property boundaries — our yard ends at the fruit trees on one side and the creek on the other.
Thoughtful Touches
Our cleaner, Debbie, always adds seasonal decorations and leaves a basket of snacks to welcome you. We want the house to feel like more than just a place to stay — it’s a place to gather, recharge, and make memories.
Whether you’re here for family, events, or just the peacefulness of the woods, we hope you’ll enjoy the cozy, quirky charm of our home as much as we do.
Local Flavor & Seasonal Fun
We share local recommendations, seasonal events, and behind-the-scenes updates from the house on our Facebook page, 'Peace of PA'. Feel free to check it out before or during your stay!

Sobre o anfitrião
Anfitrião: Erin Becker

I was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA, but these days I live in Chattanooga, TN — or I’m off traveling somewhere new! Travel has always been a big part of my life, and when I’m not on the road, you can usually find me rock climbing, hiking, or spending time with my dog.
I became a host because I know firsthand how much a welcoming, comfortable space (along with a few thoughtful touches and local tips) can add to a trip. I currently manage two vacation rentals, and both are in places that mean a lot to me personally. That’s part of what makes hosting special for me — I’m not just opening the doors to a house, I’m sharing a little piece of my own story.
The Pennsylvania house is especially close to my heart. It’s been in my family for four generations, and I grew up visiting it throughout my life. Being able to welcome guests there — whether they’re reconnecting with nearby family, attending local events, or just looking for a peaceful escape — is a joy.
One of the unexpected pleasures of hosting has been building connections with local businesses, restaurants, and event venues as I gather recommendations for guests. I love passing those tips along, and I’ve even discovered new things to enjoy with my own family when I’m back in the area.
For me, hosting is more than just providing a place to stay — it’s about helping guests feel at home, experience the local flavor, and create lasting memories.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade
This home wasn’t so much a neighborhood I chose — it chose me. It was my grandparents’ house, the place where my dad grew up, and later became a home I was gifted. When my parents and I decided to keep it rather than sell, it was because of the peaceful location and all the family memories tied to it.
Turning it into a vacation rental felt like the best way to keep the house alive and cared for, while also sharing it with others. Hosting has allowed me to reinvest in the property, from new furniture to larger upgrades like windows and even a bathroom remodel. Guests who return often notice how the house changes a little with each stay.
What I love most is that visitors appreciate many of the same qualities my family has always loved here — the quiet setting, the wildlife passing through the yard, and the chance to slow down and breathe. It’s both nostalgic for me and refreshing to see others find comfort in this space and neighborhood too.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?
What makes this property unique is the combination of its history, setting, and thoughtful touches. This house has been in my family for four generations — originally my grandmother’s home — so it carries a sense of warmth and nostalgia you won’t find in a typical rental. The style is eclectic, with a mixture of modern updates and vintage pieces, plus seasonal decorations and little details that make it feel inviting and lived-in.
The location adds to its charm. While it’s not isolated, the property feels tucked away and peaceful, with woods just behind the house, a creek you can hear when you step outside, and frequent visits from deer and turkeys. Guests love relaxing on the large front porch, watching wildlife, or gathering in the dining room for games and meals.
It’s also a space designed for both families and pets. Kids have toys and games waiting, pets get bowls and treats, and there’s plenty of room for groups — up to 10 guests. Even with all that space, it still feels cozy and comfortable, with reliable WiFi for modern convenience.
To me, what makes this home special is that it balances peaceful country living with easy access to grocery stores, restaurants, and attractions just minutes away. It’s a true retreat — one where you can enjoy the quiet of the woods without being far from anything you need.
