Welcome to Raccoon Retreat! We've ensured this home has everything our family needs for a fantastic mountain getaway and we hope you love it too! The house is perfectly situated on the closest street to the beautiful mountain overlook at the peak of Massanutten Village - minutes from the ski slopes, golf courses, indoor water park and the Family Adventure Park. At home, enjoy the large basement game room, hot tub and outdoor basketball hoop - a rare treat in the mountains!

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating my 10 year olds birthday. The neighborhood is quiet which was perfect having little ones. The house is well equipped with everything you will need and the rooms and beds are perfect for a large group.

We had a very nice stay! The bedrooms and bathrooms were all in great condition and well appointed. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances, dishes, etc., and supplies. We had multiple nice, large TVs and great WiFi. The Raccoon Retreat will be at the top oh our list for our next yearly golf trip!

This house was spacious and perfect for our extended family of 10. The location was ideal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner was very nice and easy to communicate with.

We had a great week! This home was packed with things for all ages. The home was clean, the owners were great communicators, we couldn’t have asked for a better week. Also loved the decor and the beds were comfortable! We hope to visit again in the future!

We came from New Mexico with our family for our youngest daughter’s wedding in the Shanodoah mountains. The home was perfect everything we needed!! Beautiful setting and a beautiful home!!Stayed for 2 weeks and was sad to leave!! The owners were amazing and prompt with everything!!Thank you for allowing us to come and stay in your beautiful home and enjoy our time in Virginia!!

Perfect House for Our Friends Trip!

Very clean and spacious house that was able to accommodate our of 14 adults comfortably. The house is in a very quiet area, had ample parking, and a fully stocked kitchen. Highly recommend!

Perfect getaway for Spring Break

Two families stayed (10 total)! The house was perfect for all of us to have our own space and space to come together! We loved sitting at the large table playing games and working on puzzles. Also loved gaming/pool downstairs and playing basketball with some neighbors. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and even got to enjoy a thunderstorm one night. Weather was perfect, so we did a lot of exploring. Went to the Waterpark (recommend getting there about an hour before it opens to get in line and get some seats). Spent the day there, which was a lot of fun!The recommendations from Will were spot on. We went to the White Oak Vineyard & Lavendar Farm which was perfect for all of us! Kids pet the animals and played (ages 14,14,12,12,10,9). Luray Caverns is a must see, it’s about an hour to walk through and I, personally, could have stayed all day checking it out. Absolutely breathtaking. Also-don’t skip going into town and checking out the Arcade! Loved it there!!! Also enjoyed breakfast at The Little Grill. Put on your hiking boots and go explore the mountains. We found a bunch of geocaches!! Will was easy to reach out to and responded quickly. We will definitely be back!

Disapointed

Pros - good layout, nice decor, nice refrigerator and washer and dryer, bed were comfortable.Cons - porch was falling apart rot and ripped screen, grill was very dirty as were the vents in the home, the range/oven was disgusting,dishwasher needs to be replaced, very few pots and pans, wooden furniture was marked up and upholstered furniture was worn and soiled. It snowed while we were there, and no one removed the snow - there was no shovel for us to do it ourselves. One of our group slipped and fell on the walk way to the house. This could be a very nice house with some work.

Great location, spacious, great for large groups, hot tub a plus. PERFECT TRIP

The house was perfect to accommodate everyone. It was very roomy and had a great balance of common spaces to bedrooms. The location was beautiful and I am so glad we lucked out with beautiful weather to make full use of the amenities. The kitchen is adequately stocked and we truly enjoyed the stay overall. The only thing to note is that there was a bit of wear and tear on the property. The only place this was evident was the back porch. some screens were saggy/torn. this really wasn't an issue and the property was pleasant nonetheless. Thanks for a great trip!

Mt. House

The area is beautiful. Sadly it rained the entire time but we were still able to find things to do. Hiking in the park. The wildlife all around us was nice to see. The owner was very nice to work with.

Quiet neighborhood near all the amenities of resort

Very cute, well decorated spacious house! The floorplan worked well for our large family gathering. The downstairs gave the kiddos a great space to play video games and other games while those who didn’t want all the noise could still gather upstairs in the cozy living room or enjoy the hot tub on the deck. Will was very responsive and checked in to make sure our stay was going well. Bonus to have washer/dryer to launder towels after visiting the pools and WaterPark. We would definitely stay there again!

Nice property for family

Travelled with family (8 total) and this location had plenty of room. Great amenities, amazing communication from owner and a good spot for anyone looking to do some hiking in the Shenandoah. Grocery store was a mere 20 minutes away. Location was quiet and comfortable on sunny and rainy days. We would definitely stay here again.

JMU Football Game family weekend

Family get together to see the JMU vs APP State football game. A house divided, my daughter attends JMU and my nephew is a senior at APP. The house is very cute and nicely decorated. I would stay there again.

Massanutten is great for a family getaway - Our family has been enjoying Massanutten for years. To help you plan your trip, here's our list of top-10 things to do (in no particular order).

Dempsey Family Top 10 things to do in Massanutten:

1. Cross Keys Vineyard – great wine and beautiful scenery – a perfect Virginia wine country escape
2. Cave Hill Farms Brewery – an awesome working farm that’s also a brewery! Our kids enjoy finding the chickens and climbing to the top of the feed mill for great views! There’s usually live music on Saturdays and Sundays
3. White Oak Lavender & Purple Wolf Vineyard – Lavender and wine – what more could you ask for as part of a relaxing getaway?
4. Ruby’s Arcade – located in downtown Harrisonburg, Ruby’s is a fun spot to grab some food and drinks, and enjoy some old-school arcade fun, including duck bowling.
5. Massanutten Family Adventure Park – Definitely a fun time for the whole family. Our kids love the tubbing best!
6. The Massanutten Overlook – This one is right around the corner! Head left on Del Webb drive for about ¼ mile and you’ll find a fantastic view and access to hiking trails.
7. Hiking trails – We have 2 kids and 2 dogs, so a good hike is a great way to entertain everyone at once
8. Massanutten Water Park – our son would not let us leave this one off! It is epic.
9. Massanutten Adventures – Hiking, tubing, kayaking oh my!
10. Marceline Vineyards – a beautiful location with lots of room for the kiddos to roam.
