Excellent Location

Wonderful cottage!

My family had a great time at the beach house! The location is perfect...within walking distance of groceries, coffee, and beach access. The area is quiet, which is a must with young kids. Carol was quick to respond when I reached out and very helpful! I look forward to staying here again for future beach trips!

Beautiful and comfortable

The cottage was just as described but even better. Comfortable and relaxing; close to grocery store and restaurants; central to the northern, middle and southern Outer Banks. Very easy walk to the beach. We will definitely stay there again in the future. It was only the 2 of us but plenty of room for more people. Owner was available to answer questions and was very quick to respond. Thanks, Carol, for making our vacation perfect.

Perfect getaway

This was our first time in OBX and our family of 5 had a great week. The house was very clean and cozy. The beds were comfy, and it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well appointed, and the location of the Food Lion mere steps from the house made it really easy. The beach is a quick walk. The neighborhood is fairly quiet. One thing to note is that the master bedroom on the second floor (it is the only room on that floor) does not have a door, so keep that in mind for privacy when you are there with your kids. Our favorite feature was the amazing outdoor shower. Heaven. Thank you to our host for an amazing week!

Convenient, cozy vacation spot for families

Had a great week at the beach with my family of four (kids aged 5 and 8)! This home is conveniently located 2 blocks from the closest public beach access which is equipped with a shower to rinse after a day on the beach. Just across the street is a Food Lion and the Front Porch Cafe. Located around MM 10.5 you’re just a short drive from many attractions. The home itself was perfect for us; although they had the space to have their own rooms, my kids chose to share a bedroom for sleeping, and mom and dad had some privacy upstairs in the master suite. We loved the outdoor shower and almost exclusively bathed outside for the week. Not a single complaint from us or the dog (he had a great stay too!).

Wonderful cottage in a great location

This is a beautiful cottage located close enough to everything we neeeded and wanted! Beach, grocery store, coffee shops, and ice cream shops all within walking distance. Carrol was outstanding to communicate with! Anytime we needed anything, she would answer with a quick response! We enjoyed our week here, and will definitely be looking to go back in the future!

We had a great time at the beach. The house is in a great location in a quiet neighborhood. We liked that the grocery store was right around the corner. Clean property with plenty of amenities. We would visit again!

Beach Cottage Feels Like Home

We can’t say enough nice things about Carol and her beach cottage! From providing helpful traveling tips and food recommendations, we had an amazing experience. The cottage is located about a block (although we chose to walk further down to the other public access with a ramp to make it easier to roll the beach wagon) from the beach, food (Red Drum Tavern and Tortugas Lie (Guy Fieri recommends), and an ice cream and shaved ice place. It is also conveniently located to the grocery store. Carol’s cottage feels like a “home away from home” and we are already planning our next visit to the OBX!!!

Gem by the beach in the OBX

Our stay honestly couldn’t have been better. Carol’s place is extremely clean, well stocked, and has great light from the many windows. You can have your coffee on the beautiful front deck and then walk just a few minutes to the local beach, which we thought was one of the nicest areas of the beach in the OBX. The house feels very private while still being centrally located. Carol is the best host - she’s responsive, helpful, and so kind. We can’t recommend her place enough!!!

Superb OBX Find

Wonderful Covid relief. The house and Carol are wonderful, and we had a great break away from the day to day home office confinement. Carol’s high speed internet was superb which allowed us to relax when we could. We used the carport for a homemade gym and walked to the beach daily (a Whooping 2 minute walk). We loved the outdoor deck for dining and it was a great space for our dog to enjoy, as well. The house is so conveniently located and well stocked for dining in - which we did nearly every night. It is a quiet neighborhood and safe to walk run bike everywhere! Thank you Carol.

Great location and clean!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful week in Nags Head! This cottage is perfect in many ways. The location allows for an easy quick walk to the beach. Went up in morning, back for lunch then back to beach for afternoon. Was so awesome that we could take our black lab as she loves the beach/swimming too! Was easy to hose her off and have her dry on deck. The outside shower is great and spacious! The hammock swing was enjoyed by our girls. The ability to literally walk across street to Food Lion Is so convenient. Shrubbery hides the fact that it’s there so not an eyesore or uncomfortable at all. The delivery trucks were not bothersome at all. The main floor living space is very comfortable and has all that you need. The girls enjoyed having their own space as did we up in the Huge private master bedroom. My husband loved the nice TV’s! Having the keypad lock on the door is such a nice feature as no worrying about passing a key around or losing it. The communication with Carol was amazing and so helpful. She made us feel so comfortable staying in her home before we ever even got there!

Great house two blocks from the beach

We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage. The house was the perfect size for our family and has a wonderful large master bedroom. We have a two year old and an infant with us and there was plenty of room for two pack and plays. The house is two blocks to the beach, and we were able to bring our dogs which was a huge bonus (to the beach too). You would never know from walking into the house that Carol allows pets - there is no odor and the house was very clean. While we didn't dine out or go to the grocery store at all due to the coronavirus, the house is literally across the street from Food Lion and very close to local restaurants. The only inconvenient part is that large delivery trucks are constantly coming to and from the grocery store, even in the night. But our two year old loved watching the big trucks, and it was nothing that would dissuade from me staying here again. I wish there were more cleaning supplies at the house, since guests clean up after themselves, but otherwise it was a great experience and we would love to return. The Outer banks are beautiful and the water was surprisingly warm. Thanks, Carol!

Take me back to T-shirts and Flip Flops!

We can’t say enough great things about our stay here at Carol’s cottage! Our rental experience and communication with Carol was top notch! The cottage is clean, quaint, and cozy! Plenty of room for our family. My husband and I enjoyed the master suite upstairs with a king size bed which was very comfortable and the 4 girls each had a twin bed in the 2 downstairs bedrooms which they reported comfy as well! We brought our own sheets, pillows and comforter sets but there are comforters and pillows available for use. We cooked all our meals and found the kitchen to be well stocked with all our cooking needs! We enjoyed playing games nightly at the large dinner table as well as on the deck where there is another good size table and lots of chairs! The absolute gem was everyday after our very short 2 block walk to the beach we were able to clean off in the outdoor shower! The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to most everything you could want by either walking (grocery store, coffee shop, ice cream etc) or driving to local attractions. Our family made amazing memories during our week stay we will never forget. This was our first time staying in OBX we can’t wait to return and would absolutely rent from Carol again!

COVID-19 retreat

My daughter, 2 dogs and myself enjoyed a restful and relaxing stay. We practiced social distancing, wearing masks and hand sanitizer. We mainly went to the beach and relaxed away from crowds!!

Great first time at the outer banks!!

With a former 15 year career as an elementary teacher, a second 15 year career in sales & marketing, as well as being a mom of 4 kids who grew up vacationing and working summers on the OBX, we enjoy nothing more than time at our beach cottage, whether it's for a weekend or a week. 'T-shirts and flip flops' are the attire for a guaranteed fun and relaxing stay in Nags Head. I especially love sharing the cottage with folks new to the Outer Banks, so others can experience the same enjoyments of the area as we do. I've never considered our cottage a 'rental unit' since it is truly our home away from home. Our family photos are scattered around as you would see in any home!

Having grown up vacationing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I wanted to enjoy the small town beach atmosphere as a permanent part of my life. As you come over the bridge you can't help but take a deep breath and leave all stresses behind. A walk on the beach alongside the waves, or along the beach road is a get-away all your own. But there is plenty to do to make memories with family and friends when you get back to the cottage!

While staying at our simple beach cottage, enjoy the simplicity of walking to the grocery store and nearby shops, swinging in the hammock swing, enjoying dinner on the deck, and relishing the very private outdoor shower.

If you want to venture out, you don't need to go far to enjoy various water sports, fishing, the Wright Museum, miniature golfing, and the quaint town of Manteo with NC's Aquarium and antique shopping. For a day trip, enjoy a drive down Rte 12 to Hatteras and its historic lighthouse. The drive and views are breathtaking!
