Welcome to Cool Creek Cottage, a charming mountain retreat nestled in the Rogue Riverā€“Siskiyou National Forest along Oregon Highway 62. Located on the banks of the Rogue River in the heart of Prospect, Oregon (population 500), this cozy getaway is just 45 miles from Medford and 32 miles from Crater Lake National Parkā€™s South Entranceā€”your gateway to year-round natural beauty and adventure.
Surrounded by towering old-growth cedar, majestic Douglas fir, and vibrant dogwood trees, the property features Cool Creek running alongside and is within walking distance of scenic Rogue River trails and breathtaking waterfalls.

Interior
Established in 1927, Cool Creek Cottage blends historic charm with modern comfort. The cottage sleeps up to five guests with:

Two bedrooms: one with a plush queen bed, the other with a cozy full bed
Additional sitting room with a futon for extra sleeping space
All linens, blankets, and pillows provided

Enjoy a comfortable living room with a smart TV, free Wi-Fi, board games, cards, and even a beautiful slate billiard pool table for entertainment. Warm up by the wood stove (wood provided) or use electric heat/air conditioning for convenience.
The fully stocked kitchen includes everything you need to prepare meals, plus an 8-foot custom dining table perfect for family gatherings. The bathroom features a claw-foot tub with shower option, river rock flooring, and all essentials. A laundry room with washer/dryer, detergent, ironing board, and iron is also available.

We really enjoyed our stay! The location was perfectā€”central to everything and close to the Highway of Waterfalls, which we loved hiking. The owners went above and beyond with thoughtful amenities, even including things you might forget, like a toothbrush. Weā€™d definitely stay here again!

We had a lovely stay! We were very impressed by the comfort, cleanliness and space at the cottage. It was cozy, the beds were really comfortable, and we loved chilling out in the big open plan lounge area. The pool table is such a fun bonus! I came on this trip with a friend, but this would be a great spot for a family weekend too. The location was ideal for the trail race we traveled for, and Crater Lake was a 50-minute drive away. If you're looking for a place in this area, I would highly recommend Cool Creek Cottage! We would absolutely stay again.

Crater Lake and Waterfalls

Loved this house! It was so clean and warm and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and the pool table provided our evening entertainment! We were close to some walkable trails and found some beautiful waterfalls on the Rogue River! Plus we were close to Crater Lake and we very much appreciated the snowshoes, available at this wonderful property. Highly recommend staying here!

Great winter getaway

My family had a wonderful stay over Christmas. The house was so nicely decorated for the holiday which made our stay even better. Communication with the host was prompt and we had no issues at all. The house really had everything needed.

Vacation Rental in Prospect

We really enjoyed the location in a quiet little town. The rental was roomy and very comfortable. We enjoyed many scenic places such as the tall evergreens, Mill Creek falls, Crater Lake, Rogue River canyon, Diamond Lake, and the natural bridge. We would definitely consider staying here again.

This property was one of the most amazing VRBO's I have ever been too! The hosts thought of everything to the point of leaving extra toothpaste! The kitchen was fully stocked and the dining room table was super useful as a work and eating space. The laundry room had detergent in it! The living room had tons of seating. The pool table was epic! The porch was clean and comfortable. All around best supplied and comfortable place I've ever stayed!

One of the Best!

This was a great experience with my family. It was just the three of us and we had a great time seeing the sights, hiking, and relaxing. I would defiantly recommend this place. It was Awesome. We saw bears, cougar prints just as we were leaving. I couldn't ask for a better experience and memory.

Adventure Home for the area

Sometimes when I see the word ā€˜hostā€™ regarding rental properties, I have an inward groan & eye roll, but we were absolutely hosted here like I host in my own home. Everything was thought of and greatly appreciated. Our children wanted to be at the house more than out adventuring with us!

Peaceful and quiet relaxation

This is a very nice house. They tried to thi k of everything we needed. Well done. We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend. The house is very comfortable. Nice furnishings and comfortable beds. Nice easy to use kitchen, with quality cookware. We enjoyed just hanging out and enjoyed the the wood stove. The rock bathroom floor takes a little getting used to. My wife has RA and it was a little hard on her feet. The owners seem genuinely concerned about guest comfort and needs. Thank you for providing this quality property.
