What a beautiful property! So enjoyed it all but especially the fireplace, sauna and inviting back patio. It was fun taking my morning walks to the Hakone Gardens, enjoying the beautiful Saratoga Creek and quaint downtown area along the route. The hosts were accommodating and spoiled us! I look forward to returning!

Great location within walking distance of Saratoga Village

The property is spacious with a lovely kitchen, within walking distance of Saratoga Village. It has a peaceful outdoor deck and is well-maintained. The check-in process was easy. We enjoyed the stay.

Paradise Indeed

Helen is amazing to work with and communicates details/instructions clearly. The accommodations were just what we wanted, and the location is superb - easily walkable to downtown Saratoga and only a short drive into the surrounding hills for fantastic hiking and biking (highly recommended!). Plenty of restaurants nearby and in nearby Los Gatos.

Book it.

We decided to stay here vs a hotel for the space. It was so nice to have fully stocked kitchen. Coffee, Tea & a few snacks. I loved having laundry room too. The back patio was very quiet and pretty. We went to the Mountain winery for a concert and it’s literally a 10 min. Drive. Several good restaurants very close.

Very nice property

This is a lovely home in a nice location. The neighborhood is convenient to Saratoga and Los Gatos, and has easy access to other parts of the Bay Area. The property is quite spacious and comfortable, and has access to an outdoor deck area that is a great spot to lounge or enjoy cocktails. There is no real ability to cook your own meals, but many good restaurants are nearby. It is a place we hope to return to in the future, and I would recommend it highly.

Hi Barbara, Thanks for your stellar review! Just a note that the kitchenette can do simple cooking. I just updated the description of the Panasonic microwave with Inverter technology, which cooks evenly anything from breakfast foods to appetizers to dinnertime meals. There is an electric stovetop under the sink. We also have a toaster oven for use upon request. Guests can of course use our outdoor Weber gas grill as well.

Great space, restrictive host

Unit is downstairs of hosts house. Wish that was more clear in the the posting. Host has restrictive no guest policy which is unfortunate. Otherwise the unit and location is wonderful.

Jason, thank you for the review. The listing description states clearly “ This is a lock-off in-law unit on the lower level of the house with a private entrance.” I’m sorry you missed it. As I explained to you, we’re a private residence in a very quiet neighborhood and need to be mindful about our neighbors and restrict visitors. I wish you had booked a hotel room as I really wouldn’t want you to be disappointed :-(.

Spacious Unit But Has Some Issues

The unit was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. There were extra blankets and pillows. Ceilings were extra high. There is a automatic fireplace. Parking was easy. Check in and out was easy enough. It was quiet at night. The unit is in the basement of a house that is built on a hill. You walk by the garbage and recycling cans to get to the unit. The locks are five-point locks and can be tricky until you get a lesson on how to use. The windows are egress basement windows, so no view. They placed "view paintings" in place of the view. It's kind of dim until you turn on all the lights. The entry way is awkward and small. You can hear the owners walking around upstairs, you can hear their music, and their dog scratching himself. But, they seem to go to bed early. This seems like a grandma's in-law unit that they never updated. The sofa is strangely placed and it sinks when you sit on it - this needs to be replaced. The microwave and toaster oven are placed away from the kitchen and there's no light to see the small dials on the toaster oven. I used my flashlight app. Some of the plugs did not work and they had no extension cord. That was annoying. The fireplace was oddly situated with only one chair nearby and behind the sofa. I liked the laundry facilities. The tv was a good size. The bathroom was ok. It seems like it was from the 80's. I think my mom had that glass door and track system. The sauna is right off the bathroom and I didn't use it because there was a cardboard box in there which was storing some extra rocks. I wasn't sure if the cardboard would hold mold spores and I didn't want to chance getting sick. The towels were soft and fluffy, I think they were those fluffy Costco towels. The deck has a nice view but the whole area could use some sprucing up. The deck lighting at night is too harsh - it seems like they slapped up a couple of fluorescent workshop lights. It's quiet at night, I slept well and the owner was nice enough but I won't return due to above description.

Camille, I am so sorry that you were not happy. We are constantly trying to improve and will take your feedback seriously. Things could have gone more smoothly if you knew how to check messages on your app. We sent self-check-in instructions ahead of your arrival so you would have no surprises to enter from the side yard with a WELCOME sign. The same is true for the lock. We sent step-by-step instructions on how to open and lock the door. Most people have no problem following the instructions. We do have extension cords, and I responded to your request immediately. FYI, the house was built in 2002. I can't imagine that the builder/developer went out of their way to find 1980’s bathroom fixtures. Anyway, we would always welcome kind and objective feedback so we can improve!

Our second time staying at “Little Paradise” and we enjoyed it once again! The location is perfect…so peaceful, yet just a five minute walk to quaint downtown Saratoga (with its many restaurants). The property is exactly what you see in the photos. Thank you for another wonderful stay!

Love this little paradise!

This place is clean, safe, beautiful & spacious. The owners are wonderful, and very accommodating and responsive. Loved this place and plan to return. Thank you both for everything. Look forward to seeing you again! Everything was perfect.

Great place to stay in Saratoga

Quiet, lovely, and large with it's own private entrance separate from the main house above, this is a perfect spot for staying while enjoying the amenities nearby. The property manager was prompt and very responsive to even the questions already answered in the guest book!

Great location. Private and clean

I could hear footsteps in the morning above my head upstairs occasionally, but other than that the experience was really nice. The restaurants and cute shopping area was close. Very nice area and beautifully kept grounds. Coffee in the morning outside in the grotto was lovely.

Great Saratoga Location

Very clean and very spacious, loved it that even though it is a basement it is walk out - otherwise I'd feel claustrophobic. I meditated every morning on the deck! The sauna is clean and a great addition to the stay. Owners are very polite and never in your way.

The property is very beautiful, especially when it's light outside. I especially enjoyed the fountain. It's comfortable inside. The furnishings are very useful. Even though it's wonderful that there is a fireplace, I never used it because I preferred and thoroughly enjoyed the sauna. For the beauty and level of comfort, this place can't be beat.

Really great location, and Helen is very communicative. We had one misunderstanding with cleaning showing up when they shouldn’t have but it was taken care of. The place is very amenable and tranquil, and there is plenty to do in the San Jose area. Would recommend.

A lovely place, comfortable, with easy access to downtown Saratoga.

The one thing that might improve it would have been an electric burner if you are interested in cooking during your stay. In a charming location and plenty of room to spread out.

Thanks, Aneela, for your feedback about an electronic burner. Unfortunately the code doesn’t allow the burner because of safety issue. But we do have an outdoor grill, which has a gas stove that guests can use. It’s right outside the kitchen door and convenient to use. Hope to see you again next time when you want a getaway!

A very quiet and relaxing visit.

We were in the area for work. This beautiful home was the perfect place to relax and recharge each day. The owners are great host and very easy to coordinate with. I look forward to staying here in the future.

Little Paradise was perfect for the needs of my 2 friends and me. We weren't there much because my son was getting married nearby. We especially liked the patio/deck out back. Very peaceful.

Hot August Nights!!!

While It was many factors going in its favor as for location, quite neighborhood and serene charming surroundings, all by design. Saratoga is a small village, with all the charm if not more then being abroad. So,, it's nice that there is this one available. I didn't find another listed but would have chosen another location, if I new it was going to be so so hot and there's no air conditioning! My friend and I were actually suffering. We both were getting ready to attend a 7:30pm show and both have long thick hair that After my friend blow dried hers .... It made the space impossibly hot! I could not bare to turn the blow dryer on for myself! I also do not use microwave ovens and therefore the simple cooking kitchen setup was inadequate for me personally. Only a few napkins we there from a fast food place likely and one kitchen towel, I felt it was not fully functional accommodations in which to cook, again by design. Check out was 11am. I went to the front door to return the key to Helen at 10:50am. and I while I heard a dog and voices before I went to the door , my ding dongs went unheard for quite some time.. The house keeper finely heard the doorbell, and I had to leave the keys with her as she said Helen was out walking with her dog. The photo shows a staircase, that leads to the door to enter the owners home. There is no upstairs included in this rental. Although there is air conditioning for the upstairs as it was on and the unit is close to the bedroom I was in... I would recommend this stay at the lower price point and during cooler seasons. So, the Sauna was the ongoing joke for us ........

I am so sorry you felt hot. Unfortunately that's unusual for Saratoga, where the night temperature is in the 50s and 60s in the summer. I understand you could feel hot with hair dryer. We have provided a fan. Had you let me know, I would bring another fan to help. I would do everything I can to keep my customers happy. I am also disappointed that you intentionally violated the house rules. You booked for one person, and mentioned your friend Michelle might stay. But our security camera shows that you brought in a third person, an unknown man , who stayed until the afternoon of the second day! Again, I regret this happened.

Quiet, Clean, Restful, Inviting

My brother and I visited San Jose to spend a few days with our other brother who lives in California. The accommodations were as represented and met our expectations. The location is very quiet both outside and inside. Keep in mind that the owners live above this unit but we found that to be no problem at all. Highly recommend this venue unless you are the noisy type.
