Miners Refuge - Mazama retreat with mountain views
Summary:
Miners Refuge is an outstanding trail-side cabin overlooking the Chechaquo Ranch meadow in Mazama. The home is available for up to 4, with two queen bedrooms. Miners refuge is not suitable for children under the age of 12. The living space has floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors opening onto the patio, dining table, and leather couches arranged around the stove. The cabin is exceptionally well finished and features private outdoor spaces, mature landscaping, incredible views, and immediate access to the nordic ski trails.
The Space:
Miners Refuge is an all-season cabin retreat in Mazama with exceptional views and well appointed interiors. The home is available for up to 4 guests, with two queen bedrooms each with connected bathrooms.
The generous open plan living space has floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors opening onto the patio, and offering views across the meadow to the mountains beyond. This space includes a kitchen with steel countertops and kitchen island, dining table, and lounge space with leather couch arranged around the nordic-style wood stove.
Adjacent to the living space is the nest, which is an extension of the living room. The nest has four built in couches making it a perfect for hang-out space for reading. Book shelves, games, and a small TV can also be found in this space.
The two queen bedrooms are a half level above the living area, accessed by short stairs and a corridor. Two identical bathrooms are located between the bedrooms, each with access from the adjacent bedroom and the corridor.
The entryway has ample space for boots and outdoor gear, along with closets and laundry cupboard. An alcove off the main living room provides a desk space for remote working.
Outside there is a lovely partially covered patio with a large dining table and BBQ grill, as well as a fire pit with four adirondack chairs and a wooden bench. An outdoor shower can be found to the rear of the house.
The cabin has polished concrete floors with radiant in-floor heating and additional heating provided by the wood-stove. There is no air-conditioning, however, generous overhangs help prevent summer overheating, and each bedroom is equipped with a ceiling fan.
Designed by award winning local architects, Johnston Architects, this is a remarkable retreat and rare opportunity to experience a stay in one of Mazama’s most sought after locations. The house is so well integrated with its site that it is almost hidden by native trees and shrubs and offers both privacy and views.
The Neighborhood:
MAZAMA
The cabin is located in the Chechaquo Ranch community in Mazama, where all the properties are set back to the treeline and hillside surrounding the large meadow. This trail side property enjoys convenient access to the Methow Trails nordic ski trail system. It's a short ski, walk, or bike across to the Mazama Public House, or Mazama Store with its great bakery and grocery, Mazama is also home to the Goat’s Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals) and the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski hire and lessons.
NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK
Miners Refuge is also conveniently situated for easy access to the North Cascades and the trailheads to many of the Park's world-class hiking trails. It’s under 20 minutes drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 25 minutes to Washington Pass and 30 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead. Great for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.
Getting Around:
Getting Here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions).
