This is a rare find is as secluded (though conveniently located) as it is full of rustic charm. Orignally built in 1865 from regional limestone, it was expanded by my grandparents in the 70s, for the very intention of housing large family gatherings.
There are six bedrooms across two floors (8 beds in all), three full washrooms, two huge living rooms, a large dining room (the table sits 12 comfortably), a stocked country kitchen, and a granite fireplace.
It's very spacious, easily accomodating two or even three families together (sleeps 13 people comfortably), with plenty of activities for everyone, indoors and out. We have loads of boardgames, a 70" TV with lots of seating options, great WIFI throughout the house, as well as several great places to get a bit of work done (both shared and private).
The hot tub is nested in cedar trees and is tastefully lit, but not so much as to hide the view of the stars. The stone patio that surrounds the house is also well-lit with a warm glow at night, allowing for cozy evenings on the covered patio with a fire table and standing heater.
You would have one hundred acres to yourselves. It’s private and full of natural beauty, directly at the base of the Niagra Escarpment. There are ponds (two), fields and forests to explore, whether on foot or snowshoes (we have eight pairs on-hand of various sizes). There’s a snowmobile trail that cuts through the far end of the property.
The town of Meaford is 12 minutes by car, so stocking up on on groceries and other supplies is easy - there's also a really great selection of pubs and restaurants. For the skiiers, Blue Mountain is 22 minutes by car.
Bedding and towels (all new, warm, and lovely) are included.
