A Home Away from Home . Welcome to our serene property , a home away from home where nature’s beauty surrounds you . Whether you’re here for a quiet retreat or an adventure-filled vacation, your stay here is sure to be memorable. Only minutes away from the Dorset Quarry, Manchester Center ,Emerald Lake, and Historic Hildene. Many of our guests describe their stay as feeling like “coming home ,”with a sense of belonging and peace .Please note that the host lives on-site nearby in case you should need anything .Outdoor Activities Abound . Enjoy all the things Vermont is known for : beautiful creeks , woods, and picturesque sights and sounds . There are plenty of outdoor activities to take advantage of such as kayaking,boating,swimming,and hiking . In the winter, nearby ski resorts provide ample opportunities for skiing , cross country skiing , snow shoeing and snowboarding. Check out our guesthouse binder which includes all of these local recommendations. We look forward to welcoming you to our tranquil retreat , where the Vermont mountains will make you feel a deep connection to everyone and every living thing .

We stayed at the Dorset Cottage Retreat for a long weekend in February. It was very comfortable for 2 parents, our teenager and our small dog. The cottage was cozy, clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and kind and we felt so well taken care of! It is very convenient to both Dorset and Manchester, Bromley and Stratton.

Very cozy & warm little cottage which was lovely for my long weekend reset time. Upstairs laundry room was great, as was the garage. Centrally located, short drive to Manchester outlets and several winter activity resorts. Hosts were quite responsive, especially when I locked myself out. There was a welcoming gift when I arrived, and another when they found out I was up for my birthday.

Lovely, Comfortable Cottage with Fantastic Hosts

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful, cozy cottage in Dorset. It’s close to multiple ski mountains and the charming town of Manchester, and the hosts were super friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the place was just as advertised.

Cozy little cottage.

Loved our cozy little ski house!Took my kids and their friend skiing for the weekend this cottage was perfect! Super close to Bromely Ski hill. 🧒

Property fit the description perfectly- charming cottage. Lauren was very responsive (we had no issues -just in giving helpful information.) It was VERY clean. We were there during the snow storm and were even able to pull into the garage - HUGE plus! Great location 15-20 minutes from Bromley. Close to restaurants too! Would def stay again! They even had a thoughtful little welcome bag w treats!

Perfectly situated

Upon arrival the adorable VT like red and black house is inviting once inside we felt right at home and sense of comfort relaxation and privacy. Backyard is spacious and our frenchies loved the stay as well. There is a hiking trail in the back fire pit which we did not take advantage of but was there. Met the owners who very kind and attentive over all a wonderful weekend. Definitely be back

Great stay in Dorset!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage. The location was perfect, less than 10 minutes from beautiful Manchester Center. Our dogs loved exploring the spacious property and the trails behind the house. Lauren and Jim were excellent hosts who were very easy to communicate with and had excellent tips for the local happenings in VT over the weekend. Check in was seamless and home was perfect for our small family and pets. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to the area!

Beautiful home & people

We loved the red cottage! Our hosts were kind and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, the shower was great, the kitchen was well-stocked. We enjoyed the lawn, the hiking trails right out back & the campfire! The location was perfect for enjoying the whole area. Thank you for a lovely stay, Lauren & Jim!

Cozy Dorset Cottage!

Hosts were located on the property and were lovely. Very responsive and experts in the hidden gems of Southern Vermont. We felt like we were in excellent care.

We grew up in the Washington D.C. & Silver Spring , Maryland area . After we married we moved to Urbana , Maryland . We have been coming back to the homestead in Dorset , Vermont over the past 60 years . We both have very fond childhood memories on this property . And we are both very connected to earth here on this land . We would take our family vacations in Dorset. , Vt . with our three daughters , Megan, Lindsey , and Rebekah . And welcomed our new son in-laws into the family here in Dorset , Vt. Rebekah & Carlos were married here Sept . 5 , 2021. And Lindsey & Sean were married here August 5, 2023 . The whole family really enjoys hosting here at the Dorset homestead . Hospitality , sharing stories and life’s experiences together . Sharing life’s celebrations and ceremonies together . Creating a “soft landing ,” for people to retreat to , where people feel listened to , heard , seen , and valued in our community of travelers . Creating an environment where travelers will be able to rest , receive , and replenish their body, their mind, their emotions , their soul and their spirit .
