Welcome to English Lake Escape, a beautiful custom log home located in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest. This wilderness retreat offers a peaceful and exciting vacation with all the amenities you need.

No matter the season, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. You can go hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, or take ATV trips in the surrounding area.

The property features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, comfortably sleeping 8 guests in beds. There is a king bed, a queen bed, two twin beds, a full-size pull-out couch, and two queen Aero beds available.

You'll love spending time on the 900 sq. foot cedar deck, which has outdoor seating for 10 people. There are gas and charcoal grills for your use, as well as a three-season porch.

For water activities, we provide a canoe, 3 kayaks, and two aluminum row boats. If you're interested, pontoon rental is also available.

In the Clam Lake/Namekagan area, you'll find great restaurants to enjoy. Please note that smoking is not allowed on the property. We do allow trained pets upon request.

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. We had everything we needed for our stay. We also rented the Loon’s Nest (sleeping quarters above the garage) which made the setup nice and spacious for our three unit group (me/my husband/son, my sister/2 kids, and the grandparents).The cabin feels secluded but is an easy drive to the state park, Ashland, and up to Bayfield. There were lots of deer on the drive on gravel roads into the cabin. The area is stunning with lots to see and appreciate.Having the kayaks available to use was fantastic. Easily our son’s favorite part of the stay!

This was our 2nd time staying at this lake house. We really love how peaceful and relaxing it is. The house is very clean, well stocked, and decorated nicely. My family enjoyed all the kayaks, canoe, and row boat that were on site for our use. I would highly recommend staying here!

Relaxation!

Beautiful quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. We didn’t leave once - just enjoyed boating, swimming, campfires, games, and the beautiful surroundings. My brother-in-law was easily able to work from the cabin - wifi was great. Thanks Gregg!

It was alright

My husband and I hosted our wedding here. We only had 25ish guests so we didn’t need a huge space the night before the wedding the power went out. We understand this isn’t their fault, but we went 24 hours without ac when it was 100*. The owner came over once to bring buckets to flush the toilets but we didn’t hear from him again. He was well aware that we were hosting a wedding but didn’t seem to care to help or check in at all. We made the best of our experience, but wouldn’t stay again.

Lovely home for rest and relaxation

Great place! Clean and well-equipped (may be the fist VRBO that we have rented that gave us more than 3 rolls of toilet paper - it's the little things). Sandy beach was nice to wade in on a hot day. Owner was quick to respond to questions prior to going. No issues while onsite!

Great stay. Responsive manager.

Lake view is gorgeous. Really enjoyed the provided kayaks and row boat. Copper Falls State Park was very close and beautiful. Found a local restaurant called Copper Ridge that waited on us with delicious food and great customer service. Gregg was very responsive when we had a slight issue with our room that ended up getting resolved. We would definitely stay here again.

These retired educators loved it!

We are a group of four Retired educators. We found this place was great for many of its attributes. The lake was amazingly clean and easy to access. The kitchen and all areas were well equipped, tissues and paper towel were provided. Nice to have a full-service kitchen and lots of space to spread out.

Peaceful & Beautiful House

My Family and I enjoyed this house. Everything was very clean, and well kept. We loved all the little details the owners put into this rental. The stocked kitchen, board games, extra patio & fire pit seating, onsite firewood, outdoor lawn game, deck of cards, bug spray, weather radios, paper plates and paper towels. It was great to have 3 kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat. It allowed us to be out exploring the lake together. The option to rent a pontoon is great too and very convenient. We didn't have any issues during the day with mosquitos. Only at night, but that's to be expected in the middle of the forest. It's located in a Beautiful area. We explored Copper Falls and Morgan Falls during our stay. We would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking to get away and relax! Thank You!

My name is Gregg McArthur and I am the President of McArthur Towel and Sports out of Baraboo Wisconsin,

The property on English Lake has been in our family since 1972 and after debate we decided to demolish the old family cabin and build our new custom log home. We enjoy sharing the property with responsible indviduals and families that enjoy a backwoods retreat.

We personally enjoy Snowmobiling , ATV rides, hunting, fishing and regular trips out to the many northwoods establishments in the area. Great people and great fun.
