Beautiful renovated Mansion. Family friendly with large secluded garden and pool

Maison Quarante is a 10 bedrooms mansion in a large secluded garden with private swimming pool, where you and your family can find inspiration and peace and tranquility. Or simply have a lot of fun. We are located in sunny Southern France, in the Languedoc, ten minutes from the historic Canal du Midi, 30 minutes from Narbonne and Beziers, situated on top of the hillside and surrounded by vineyards. You find us in the main street of the small authentic village Quarante, with all daily needs to hand within walking distance. You can walk 5 to 10 minutes to the local Bar40 for a meal or a refreshing glass, or to restaurant Terminus. In the village we also have several wine producers who will be happy to give you a tasting experience before you walk home with your favorite wine. The perfect start of the day is a walk or run amongst the vineyards before you stop by the local baker and pick up fresh baguettes.
Within 20-45 minutes drive you have access to mountains, rivers, white beaches, big cities, historic villages, local markets, river rafting, vineyards etc...

This magnificent house was built in 1805 as a family home, and has been carefully renovated with all modern facilities yet without losing its charm. Enter through the front door and step back in time into this spacious decorative hallway which leads to a grand staircase and 10 bedrooms above. 5 on each floor, 9 with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are heated. Two has a/c. We also have a full bath on the ground floor and shower/WC by the pool.

On the ground floor you find a large kitchen with two large fridges and a industry grade dishwasher, a music room/library, a dining room and the living room with a/c and direct access to the terrace and garden. You have dishes, tables and chairs to host 24 people on the terrace. if your family holiday includes a celebration,. we can refer you to our local English and French speaking wedding/ event planner who lives just around the corner. She has successfully arranged both a wedding and a 70 years celebration at the property.

Our garden is a wonderful place of quiet and calm. Surrounded by the old walls you have your own private park with huge trees, lovely plants and bushes, birds singing and generous
areas for dining or an afternoon drink. Children loves it here, with the large pool and the lawn to play on. Pool toys, including a smal water slide, is available at the property. We also have a petanque (boule) area and table tennis for use. Washing machine and dryer for guest use available in the manison.

The wonderful old greenhouses give a unique character to the garden. This is a place where you can read a book, play a game, take a nap in the shade of the leaves, or do your morning yoga. The greenhouses can also be used for dining and receptions.
Catering/ breakfast service can be provided by our local host if requested.

It is magic to come out in the garden early in the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise. Realizing you need your bread from the baker, an ice cream for the
kids or meat and vegetables to prepare on the outdoor gas BBQ: you simply walk out through your main door and enter the main street. Here you will find all you need right on
your doorstep. No car or bike needed.

​You probably want to leave the garden to explore the area during your vacation. The sandy beaches are tempting, the area is perfect for biking or maybe you are interested in a wine and food tour in the area. We encourage you to, as there is a lot to see. At the same time we are certain, with a garden like this, you will be very happy when you return back to your private oasis in complete privacy.

You can park outside in the main street or you can enjoy private parking for several cars inside the locked gate.

If your group exceeds 20, you are welcome to rent our Scandinavian-style Villa i addtion. This is a Scandinavian oasis within the grounds of our French Mansion. The Villa offers our guests a modern touch which blends into its surroundings perfectly. The Villa offers four double bedrooms all with AC, 2 on the ground floor, 2 above with separate bathrooms and WCs. Its large open plan sitting room/dining room also boasts a mezzanine area. A welcoming family space in both summer and winter. The open plan kitchen looks out over the terrace, stunning garden and pool. “Hygge” à la Francaise!
The Villa is for rent seperately for smaller groups or it can be rented in addition to the mansion if you are more than 20 people. We respect your privacy. The Mansion and the Villa will never be rented out at the same time unless it is the same party renting both.

If you plan an even larger gathering of friends or family, we can also offer two appartments just outside the main gate. By renting all units you have a total of 17 rooms with bedding capacity for 34 guests.
