There was a basket for us when we checked in with Thanksgiving kitchen supplies that made us feel welcome. It had all the amenities that we needed. The hot tub was serviced midweek so we knew it was safe for the kids. As soon as we got home, we received a card from the owner thanking us for staying at her home which was very nice. We will definitely lease this property again!

Fall getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Summer Winds. We took five teenagers and our dog for my daughterā€™s birthday. The girls had a blast! They got a lot of use out of the hot tub, played a bunch of foosball, got up early to catch the sunrise in the beach, and much more! Would definitely stay here again!!

Fantastic location and gorgeous views!

Enjoyed our stay in this home with its breathtaking views of the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked and the appliances worked well. The AC seemed to have difficulty keeping the upper living area cool, but the downstairs temperature was very comfortable. Very convenient location to restaurants and shopping.

Beautiful location!

The location of this property makes it so much more worth it! The walk to the beach is so short and when we went in September, we basically had the beach to ourselves. The patio furniture was perfect for our family of 6 as well. This house was kid friendly as well and came with a high chair and baby gates for the inside and built in gates for the patios. Beds were very comfy and we were so close to lots of local eateries, coffee shops, and shopping! We even took trips to at least three different lighthouses. If we come back to the outer banks we will definitely look into renting this property again.

It really made a difference being able to load and unload on each floor and not having to carry everything up the stairs. It is a well maintained and lovely home and the upgrades this year were very nice. We have already booked two more stays. Canā€™t wait to get back!

Lots of dishes, glasses, pots and pans but weirdly no containers for leftovers. We rented beach chairs since the chairs and chaises on the house decks were too cumbersome to haul down the boardwalk to the beach. We didn't end up using the hot tub but if the days and evenings hadn't been so hot we probably would have. We'll try to stay here again.

A Gem of a Vacation Rental!

We are return guests at Summer Winds and were delighted to see the beautiful new sofas, rug and comfy mattresses. The place was immaculate and the owner has thought of everything you would need to enjoy your vacation. The dune access to the beach is steep and deep right now, and difficult for a senior. No fault of the owner. We used the public access two doors down which was an easy walk. The sand fences are building up the dunes. We look forward to our next stay.

Great rental but......

The house itself is in very good condition, the layout of the living space and bedrooms is very logical and takes advantage of every square inch. The location and amenities make the stay very enjoyable. However, poor cleanliness takes away from the experience. The trash left in the yard, left over personal items from the previous party, candy wrappers and cigarette butts on the grounds were eyesores and remedied with a phone call to the property manager. Living the entire week with the numerous stains (some still moist) on the carpet on every floor and on the furniture made it feel like we had overpaid for a cheap motel, especially when you throw in the exorbitant fee for the services provided by VRBO. I would definitely recommend the property but only if it has been thoroughly cleaned.

The ocean view from this home is spectacular, both from the open living room and bedrooms. The private beach access was one of the best features of this home, really enjoyed by our dog. It got cold during that week, but that did not diminish our stay, HVAC worked well, and we were still able to enjoy the hot tub. This home is spacious and comfortable, and clean upon our arrival. Wifi and Direct TV in every room adds to the comfort and organization of this home. Convenient to shopping and grocery stores. We would recommend this property to anyone!

Strange Feeling

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Keys (not key pad!) could not be picked up until 4 pm. No exceptions. Stove broke early on Wednesday and was not serviced until late Friday. We had 8 adults and a baby in our party. We had prepared and purchased food for the week to make in the house. We had to make alternate plans and spend extra money for meals. I feel this could have been avoided or compensated for. The home is nicely furnished, kitchen is well stocked, extra refrigerator is great and a new gas grill is nice. Bedroom are small. Great beach access! Joley Rogers across the street lets out late and Bikers woke us up often as they left.

Reviewer Comments: The house is well laid out, with a large and very functional top floor kitchen/living area and full bath (although the hottub/shower is a little odd). The four BR's on the lower living area are adequate size and comfortable, with two full baths and ceiling fans in all rooms. The laundry is below this, and a large storage closet outside with grill and lots of beach paraphernalia. The view of the beach and ocean from the living room is awesome! There is a hot tub on the deck, which we did not use. We had some issues during our stay, which Carolina shores (esp Penny) handled with grace and efficiency. Many Thanks. My only complaint is with HomeAway, which now charges $200 IN ADDITIOON to Carolina Shores' reservatio fee of $125. This is new, and I think excessive. Will not use HomeAway in the future.
