Need an escape from your hectic lifestyle? Stay at our 'Cute-as-a-button' rental house (nicknamed 'Conch Shell') on Dauphin Island, Alabama, where your only worries will be deciding what kind of sunscreen to use? (678 -4880553) Come enjoy the beach, biking, walking, and birdwatching like a true local. Bird watching can be enjoyed on our wrap-around deck or while taking a stroll through Dauphin Islands', AL internationally recognized Bird Sanctuary.

A large family room provides you plenty of room for vacationing and entertaining. The cheery and colorful kitchen provides a wealth of space to set out a feast of hour'devors for the quick, constant desire for snacks, while enjoying the sun, sand, and surf. Imagine how relaxing it would be to enjoy a freshly brewed iced tea on the deck, while watching the dolphins swim across the water at dusk and hearing the children frolicking in the sand below. Delight in the instant access to the pearly white sands of Dauphin Island beach, by simply stepping out of the house and into our spacious front yard.

When all that relaxing creates a need for more relaxing, be entertained with a movie night that everyone can enjoy. Our three beautifully decorated bedrooms each boast a private television which includes a dvd/vcr combo, and still allow you to comfortably occupy 9 family members or friends. During the hot afternoon, let you children play underneath our beach house (cottage) in the shade. Feel free to bring all your fishing gear and make use of the public fishing piers located on the island.

A short drive or jog will take you anywhere you need to go. Our rental house 'Conch Shell' is found a half mile from the end of the island, where a least a mile of untouched beach is situated. Located down the road, the Estuarium lets you explore the deep waters of Mobile Bay and the reefs of the Gulf of Mexico, while educating even the most knowledgable on marine life.

A short drive leads to the Historic Fort Gaines, the Shrimp Docks, the Bay Ferry, and The Isle Dauphine Public 18 Hole Golf Course. Did not stay due to no response from owner.

This was the worst experience we had ever had dealing with Vrbo, just trying to get a reservation/confirmation and no information on the host to contact and communicate with. We ended up in a hotel in Bilox for our family time. Not the accommodations we are use to, but we made it work.

Relaxing and just right fir get away

We love our stay at the island and our house!Tammy was great before with answers all and any questions!!!!! The house was great. 3 bathrooms was awesome and 3 bedrooms!!! Right on the beach! We could hear the waves all night!!! House equipped with everything you need! Deck nice bc you can sit and listen to waves crashing! Even though weather was wet and cloudy we still had beach time . We took our standard poodles and tff he ey loved it. I would highly recommend this place! We will go back!!!

Tammy is a dream to work with and the property is perfect. New appliances, 2 master suites, straight path to Gulf, and fabulous shelling! The deck on both sides of the house look out on the Gulf!

It was OK - but Just

To start, I think Tammy is a nice lady, but the communication with this property was difficult at best. From the start, I couldn't get returned phone calls, emails or texts. VRBO still thinks I haven't booked the property even though I paid a $300+ fee to them for the booking. I ended up having to pay through a 3rd party - which with "island time" probably isn't a big deal but we weren't sure until we arrived and the door opened if we were really booked to stay (it was late after a 15 hour drive). Then, when we opened the door, the strong odor of cat urine and musty was overwhelming. We immediately went to open the windows and were stopped by signs that the windows were not to be opened! WHAT? AT the beach, I can't open the windows? This was NOT in the notes anywhere! With a pet friendly house - we also expected a dog/pet gate on the deck - no such thing. That was a huge bummer as we had to use the deck chairs to make a sort of gate, and our dog leashes to keep the doors from slamming shut. Otherwise the sheets had a perfume smell to them. And, the house was mostly clean. We did end up closing off one of the rooms where the cat smell was the worst. We LOVED Dauphin Island - had a blast with all our activities and multiple walks to the beach. We have stayed in other rental homes and been provided with beach items such as chairs, toys, etc - this house did not have any of that - you'll have to bring your own. We will return to the island, but not this rental. I do hope Tammy can find a way to provide better communication and to get rid of the cat odor for future visitors.

Great beach getaway

We really enjoyed our stay. It was our first time on Dauphin Island. The property is exactly what I expected and Tammy was great to communicate with. The location is alllll beach. Which is what we wanted! Literally. Beach every which way you look. We were able to sit back, relax, and watch the kids enjoy the sun.

Cute beach house

This property was very pretty (gorgeous counters!) and the 3 bathroom/ 3 bedroom layout was excellent. The best part was that we were literally steps from the beach. We spent two whole days fishing and swimming. We were also able to bring our dogs which was a nice treat. This is the 3rd time I’ve stayed on the island and this was the best house yet!

Great Low Population Family Getaway!

We have a child with a medical condition that leads to a suppressed immune system. So we wanted a quiet beach with low population and that is exactly what we got. It was the perfect time to relax, take a quick few steps out and let the kids play and enjoy the sand and sun of the gulf! We saw plenty of shrimp boats and dolphins, which we found fun to watch and added character to the experience. We took a short drive to the end of the island for a relaxing sunset walk, family chat time sitting on a log, with only a person or two in sight. On our way back we took flashlights and all kept count of sand crabs until we got past 200. It was so fun. Definitely a great location, and a wonderful home to rent with all we needed for our active fam of 5 with one teen, one pre teen girl, and one pre-teen boy. Split floor plan with kitchen in between was great for mom and dad. Tv’s in bedrooms able to stream Netflix or other streaming services when You needed a break from the sunshine.

Great Spring Vacation

Everything was as advertised. Communicating with the owner, Tammy, was so easy. Perfect location and great house. My wife told me to mention that this was the most comfortable bed of any beach house we have ever rented. Totally recommend and we will be back!
