The Top Shelf on the Bourbon Trail in Historical Downtown Versailles

The Top Shelf is a Kentucky-themed 1400 square foot apartment with equine and bourbon decorative accents from local artists. Upon entering the building, you will fall in love with the open concept kitchen and living room area. This area has great natural light with 10 foot ceilings and refurbished wide-plank poplar hardwood flooring and direct access to a large private deck with grill and seating. The living room has a smart TV on a large exposed brick wall and a sleeper sofa bed. There is a large white quartz countertop eating area in the kitchen that is fully equipped with all the necessary cooking amenities.

A large, wide hallway with stunning equine photography leads you to the first bedroom with a queen bed and en-suite full bathroom. This bedroom has an electric fireplace, a smart TV, and closet. The attached, private bathroom has a relaxing, clawfoot tub to soak and relax in with your beverage of choice.

The primary bedroom is at the front of the building and boasts three, large windows looking down on Main Street that provide amazing natural light and great view of downtown Versailles. This bedroom has a king size bed, original heart pine hardwood flooring and exposed brick wall with smart TV. There is a nice seating area for two in the room for enjoying your morning coffee! The en-suite primary bathroom has a tub/shower combo and is next to a large walk-in closet with full length mirror, dresser, and security safe. Additionally, the laundry room with a nice washer and dryer is attached to this bathroom.

The Top Shelf is located next to Governor's Park which is a small, pocket park with seating and tables to relax, read a book, or enjoy a cone of gelato. The park is accented by a classic Coca Cola mural on the side of our building reminiscent of days gone by.

We are minutes from Keeneland Racetrack and the perfect home base for trips to Kentucky's famous distilleries like Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, and Castle &Key. The Top Shelf is second to none in Woodford County.

Great spot in downtown Versailles

Comfortable, clean and spacious apartment above a local med spa in downtown Versailles. Easy to walk the coffee shop, restaurants and a few cute shops. Quick drive to Lexington.

Everything about this stay was perfect with the exception of traffic on Main Street. The host provides a white-noise machine and ear plugs and these are quite helpful.Spacious location, great proximity to Frankfort and Lexington.

The Perfect Stay

This was our best VRBO stay ever (and we’ve done quite a few!). The accommodations were inviting and comfortable. The cleanliness and attention to detail were exceptional. We did not cook in the unit but for those who do you won’t be disappointed. Will definitely book this one again when we make a return trip next year.

Great property

I was here for work, and Top Shelf was perfect for my stay. Matt was a great host. Check in was seamless, and the space was spotless and had everything needed. It would be perfect for a family or two couples.

The Top Shelf

We enjoyed our stay at The Top Shelf. It was clean and comfortable and the location was great. It does get a little noisy in the main bedroom as it is right above Main Street, but that is to be expected. We would stay here again.

Charming and great location!

I very much recommend this property! My family really enjoyed staying at this property. The kitchen is well equipped and has plenty of space. The living spaces are good sized and beautifully decorated. The property owner is very responsive and helpful when I had questions. I wish we could have spent more time in Versailles and at this property.

Perfect small town loft!

We came in for a high school graduation and stayed here with our two kids. The property manager was very accommodating for both early check in and late check out which was very helpful. Everything was very clean and decorated perfectly with local decor - horses and bourbon. The beds were comfortable and our kids loved the “fancy bath”. We walked to a donut shop for breakfast. Kitchen was fully stocked. Parking was easy to find. No complaints!

We spent a long weekend at the Top Shelf and thoroughly enjoyed this lovely property and everything it had to offer. Matthew is an excellent host. Very prompt replies any time I reached out to him. The apartment is so beautifully decorated and it had all the amenities you would expect. It was also in the perfect location near everything we wanted to do and see in the area. We took the Bluegrass Scenic rail trip, shopped in downtown Versailles, went to the Kentucky Horse Park and visited several distilleries among other things. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the Top Shelf to anyone who is visiting the area. You will love it!

Amazing place to stay.

We wanted to visit family in the Versailles area and wanted to experience downtown Versailles. It is an amazing town. We were excited from the pictures but seeing and experiencing this place in person was just wonderful. Great kitchen, beautifully decorations, tremendous information on the area and Matthew, the host, was the best we have had an experience with in all the travels we have done.The area around Versailles is so beautiful and fun to drive. We did not to visit the Distilleries this time but just driving by the horse farms is amazing. Lexington is very close and it is such a great city.We would recommend this spot for a couples get a way or a family. It has private parking and the town is very walkable to stores and restaurants.We will be back for sure!

This 2nd floor 2 bedrm 2 bath rental really was Top Shelf! What a great location downtown with parking at the door. Very clean, spacious and comfortable furnishings. We loved hanging out on the back deck too. Kitchen and baths were fully equipped with everything we needed. We appreciate the soaps and shampoos and thanks for the water and snacks too! The main bedroom bed was comfortable also. We did not try to other bedroom. Versailles is a great small town, we loved the Rolling Oven Pizza Taproom, Amsden Bourbon bar and coffee shop across the street and all the local shops, such friendly people. Midway is just 10 minutes north and also has lots of great places to eat and drink. Enjoyed Serendipity coffee/tea shop, Wallace Station for lunch, Don Jockey’s back deck was awesome. We stayed 3 nights and each day drove to a nearby town…Bardstown, Frankfort, Lexington and Mt Sterling. Such beautiful bluegrass horse country. Next time we plan to visit Keenland. We will be back and plan to stay at Top Shelf again:) Thanks for checking in with us each day Matthew, much appreciated!

My brothers and I purchased this building because we saw the great effort this community has put into bringing the historic downtown atmosphere back to life and we wanted to be part of it. Window shopping, sweet treats, fine dining and night caps are just steps away from our downtown property. Come see why Versailles is a true bluegrass gem.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The Top Shelf is a spacious whole floor apartment with hand nailed wood work craftsmanship, tall ceilings, exposed brick, repurposed barn poplar hardwood floors, historic building that has been completely updated. It is Kentucky themed displaying local artist’s work all around. Woodford County is the birthplace of bourbon and the horse capitol of the world and we think you’ll love how our apartment reflects that.
