Lou-Anne & Rick are very kind, thoughtful and attentive hosts. Dexter’s pond and cabin is very clean, cozy and beautiful, being there gives you a deep sense of tranquility. My husband and I spent our 14 year wedding anniversary here and we just can’t say enough about it! It was a wonderful getaway we will not forget! We will definitely come back!

So relaxing!

The cabin was so clean and welcoming. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The views of the pond were wonderful. We were looking for a peaceful get away and it was just that! Will go back next year.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It has a porch overlooking the pond, a fire pit, outside table and chairs, and kayaks you can use. The full size frig and grill are practical, and the comfortable bed and living room chairs appreciated. It is nice and quiet here and the sound of the loons on the water really make you feel like you are away on vacation. The landlords are nearby and very helpful.

What a wonderful, peaceful stay! The cabin was perfect, well thought out amenities, comfortable, clean, and loved hearing the loons calling. We brought our own Keurig coffee maker as my Client preferred ut. But the coffee/tea station was lovely!We stayed a whole week and when we weren't gathering for activities elsewhere we enjoyed sitting on the porch or Adirondack chairs by the pond.

My dream come true

Cozy, private, comfortable, picturesque cabin with everything we needed. Great kitchen with coffee. Comfy porch and outdoor seating. We appreciated use of kayaks and canoe and the ability to paddle from one pond to another. Thank you for sharing this lovely place.

Magical Place

Lovely cabin with nice touches. Clean and comfortable with little surprises everywhere. Located on a quiet road with a beautiful view of Dexter Pond. Upon arrival I was greeted with a loon call, and it was awesome! Kayaks were provided and I ventured off on the pond and it was amazing! Highly recommend this place.

Awesome cabin on Dexter Pond! Rick and LouAnne were terrific hosts! We loved drinking coffee on porch overlooking the pond, watching sunset and kayaking. Saw family of loons and bald eagle on the large pond. Classic Maine cabin! Not big but comfortable. Hosts were very responsive if we had any questions. Make sure to try their farm fresh eggs and honey!! Hope to visit again!!

This was our first experience in this area of Maine. The cabin was cozy and immaculate, and grounds were well maintained. Perfect for two people. It had everything you needed, from several outdoor seating areas, binoculars, and even a citronella candle for the pouch where we spent the majority of our time enjoying the loons hummingbirds, and abundant other wildlife I would like to thank the host for their exceptional attention to detail. We will return soon

We loved our stay on Dexter Pond. The cabin is charming, clean and comfortable. There were bottles of water and fresh eggs in the frig. There were helpful notes around the cabin explaining how things worked. The big yard had a fire pit ready to enjoy. This was the perfect place for us to spend our first two nights in Maine - loons singing - hummingbirds dancing and perfect peace and quiet.

Peaceful and Beautiful

Stayed here while visiting nearby colleges with my son. Sunsets here are sublime. Perfect spot to unwind.

Cutest Cozy Cabin

This place was absolutely amazing! I needed a quiet place to write and just chill, and this cabin was perfect for that. The view of the waterfront was incredible, especially for watching the sunset. And the inside was so cozy and cute. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a nice, quiet getaway.

Short Family Stay

We had an amazing stay here. Perfect setting on Dexter Pond. The cabin had everything we wanted and more. Our kids.loved the loft and all the facilities outside. Lou-Anne and Rick were very open and gracious hosts. We would definitely recommend.

A very Relaxing Stay

After reading VBRP property descriptions for all the rentals in the area, we thought this would be best for our family stay and we were right! Property is as pictured, and we enjoyed our morning coffee outside observing loons and other wildlife. The children thought the loft was the coolest sleeping room ever. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. When driving to the property, use the directions provided by the hosts. There is another way in, but that road is really, really bumpy and in not as good a condition. However, the children thought the bumpy road was fun and exciting.

Stay at Dexter Pond

We really loved our stay at this very quaint and cozy cabin. It was very clean and had all of the supplies you would need in the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. We would stay here again if in the area in the future. It is very easy to get to and you really feel you are away from it all. But then you are still very close to Augusta, Winthrop and Lewiston. And just a short drive to Portland.

Cozy cabin on lake!

We spent two nights at the cabin as a family of 4 with two kids 11 and 15 they had fun sleeping in the loft (but it’s definitely for the able-bodied to get up and down from there). The house is rustic and charming and has everything you need. We went out on the lake using the kayaks and made s’mores in the outdoor fire.

Fantastic Fishing weekend

Lou-Anne and Rick were extremely helpful and accommodating. The cabin was immaculate, well-appointed, and picturesque. We asked to bring our small boat and they helped us with logistics and navigation of the ponds. Lots of fish and fun. Our family our last gasp of summer .

Fun holiday weekend

The cabin is exactly as stated in the description. One A/C unit in the cabin and it cooled it off great. I called him with a question in reference to the well water and he came over and fixed it immediately. We traveled 8 hrs from Philadelphia and asked if we could check in earlier and he was very accommodating. I come to Maine every couple of months to visit my son and his family so I will definitely book again!

The cabin is quaint and very clean. Having use of their kayaks and canoe made for a fun afternoon. The loft was a bit tricky for my husband and I to go up and down. Actually, it was hilarious. Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. All in all, it’s a great little getaway spot.

Lou-Anne and Rick are the cream of the crop as hosts. Lou-Anne came right over to fix my wi-fi connection. We had a good conversation, too, about the history of the cabin. It is small but adorable! Not too much Maine decor, just right, cleverly displayed. The owners have made their cabin fully functional even in tight places. Very comfortable and attractive. As for Dexter Pond’s natural habitat, while we were kayaking, we saw a mother loon with her baby on her back, an eagle in flight, and an egret at our dock. One thing to note ahead, is that the photo of the shore doesn’t show how small it is. There is barely a patch of sand and the bottom is all muck and weeds as far as you can walk out. It is impossible to swim at the shore or even at the float because it’s surrounded by weeds in the water. One bright idea I had was to go to the Winthrop Town Beach. It’s free, has picnic tables and benches, life guards in season, port-a-potties, a sandy beach and a gorgeous lake named Maranacook. There is also a boat launch! Hope this helps those who want a nice place to swim and a larger lake for boating. All that said, our stay at the cottage was quiet, tranquil and refreshing. Go and enjoy!

We were both raised in Maine, we were high school sweethearts. Rick joined the United States Marine Corps and made it his Career. After 20 years serving we came back home to Maine to raise our children with family. After retiring we moved to Winthrop on Berry pond . We now spend our time in the town we love, enjoying the outdoors, grandchildren and sharing our cabin.

When we came back to Maine to visit, while Ricked served we always came back to the Dexter . We enjoy the peacefulness of this area. We have never been disappointed.

Location! The cabin is nested between the ponds and Mt Pisgah! The quietness is very relaxing. You can feel the time slowing down. A mile in the woods but only 15 minutes from all your needs
