Craftsman Inspired Beach Cottage Steps Away from Crystal Beach

Welcome to Dolphin Smiles at Carillon Beach. This custom, architectural beachside cottage home has been in the same family since it's birth in 1997. Imagine.......waking up to white sandy beaches coupled with the daunting task of deciding what gourmet restaurant to dine in, later that perfect day.

The master suite dominates nearly one half of the second floor. The private bath has dueling, coral blue vessel sinks and a large walk in rain head shower. The remaining second floor sleeping area offers a queen sized bedroom and adjacent third bedroom with duel twin bunks. All of the homes linens are clean crisp and white. Sunsets can't be missed atop your own private three story tower.

Nice relaxing weekend

Great trip

This is the third time we've stayed at Dolphin Smiles. This is our favorite home in Carillon. The beds are comfortable and the walkover to the beach is just around the corner from the house. It fits our family perfectly.

Outstanding house and location!

Superb house with awesome sunset views from its tower! Highly recommend! We had plenty of room for 6 of us. Three adults, two teens and one child! We will be back!

Still Smiling!

The house was perfect, extremely clean, and a very well designed space. The beaches are gorgeous. Carillon is a terrific neighborhood - private, quiet and low key but very close to Rosemary Beach if you are looking for more shops/restaurants and such. Owner was very helpful in booking and on-site management was readily available if needed.

Great family trip in PCB

The house is convenient to grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants. The check-in directions were simple and communication with Mark was timely and easy. Access to the beach (2 walkovers) and pool were nearby. We had a great time playing checkers on the porch watching the evening storms come through. Our trip was relaxing and fun! Thank you Mark! We look forward to seeing you on another visit!

Amazing outdoor spaces

My husband and I loved Dolphin Smiles - it was cold at home so we took advantage of the wonderful outdoor spaces in the home. We had friends in other homes around us and our space was the envy of all. Mark was so quick to respond to any question we had and the house was in perfect condition. We will be back!

Wow! Best house we have rented so far in Carillon Beach.

This home is adorable, comfortable, and worked well for our family of 4. The location near the beach walkover and the pool was amazingly convenient. Owner Mark was gracious and accommodating, not to mention helpful. He went out of his way to make sure our stay was comfortable. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and feel like we were at home. My daughter spent a lot of time in the hammock in the Crow's Nest...we watched a storm from up there too, very cool! Outdoor covered patio was private and perfect for having morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. We will definitely be back, thank you for another great vacation!

Beautiful house, Great location.

The house was great. Spacious and well equipped. Perfect for a family of four and couple sleep two more. We never got the living room tv to work but didn’t ask for help because wanted to reduce screen time, anyway. The master bed was not comfortable and jiggled whenever one of us moved. Both of us had sore hips which hasn’t happened to either of us before. Loved the open closet concept in the master. The covered observation deck was a bonus. We spent a lot of time there. Even brought our beach chair up for extra seating. Incredible views!

Great location, very clean, some issues, would stay again

This is a beautiful home with close access to the beach and pool. The lighthouse tower was terrific and the place was immaculate. Mark the owner was very responsive to the issues we had, which are listed below: 1. The beach service was atrocious. Not once during the entire week were our two chairs and umbrella set up when we arrived at the beach. We contacted Mark, who directed us to the beach service company, who said they’d follow up with the workers. It was incredibly frustrating. Bring your own equipment to avoid the hassle. 2. The microwave wasn’t functioning when we arrived. Mark had already ordered one that arrived on Tuesday. I was fine to install it myself, though it would’ve been hard for someone like my petite wife to do it on her own if I wasn’t with her. 3. The freezer never functioned. A repairman came out on Wednesday to clean the coils that still didn’t fix the problem. That meant no popsicles or ice cream for my four and two year old kids. We also had to buy bags of ice the entire week. 4. The master bathroom toilet sounds like an airplane toilet when flushed. 5. Bring a table fan for the kitchen. It gets extremely hot in the afternoon or when you’re cooking. There’s very little airflow. 6. The smallest bedroom needs blackout blinds. It gets very bright and very warm.

CHEAP property owner should consider spending $$$ to delight his guests

If you landed on this review, there is a reason why this property is priced below other comparable properties in Carillon Beach: The property owner manages the property from out of state, and does not invest the time, resources, and energy to ensure that his guests have an amazing experience. CHECK-IN: The information about access to the property is not updated in the mobile VRBO app. If you didn’t bring a computer or printed instructions, your only option is to call the property owner and hope he is available… we walked around the house for 30 minutes until property manager called us back with instructions. BEACH CHAIR SERVICE: Head to the beach, and if you’re lucky, you’ll find the beach chairs that belong to “Dolphin Smiles”. We walked up and down the beach for another 45 minutes, and when we finally tracked down beach guy, he was not informed of our arrival by the property owner… CLEANLINESS: If your allergic to dust or a cleanliness freak, this is NOT the property for you… Dust all around TV/major appliances and uncollected trash from previous guest are another sign that the property owner is not paying top dollar for cleaning services. KITCHEN: When we called the property owner because the kitchen garbage disposal was not working, he called us back to give us instructions on “finding a wrench” to unclog the disposal ourselves… I was not expecting to spend valuable vacation time fixing the owners appliance problems… BATHROOMS: Blue bathroom sinks show every little piece of dirt… My wife spent a good 30 minutes/day cleaning both bathroom sinks because she couldn’t stand seeing the sink dirty every morning before she brushed her teeth. BEDS: Every single bed needs to be replaced. All beds (made of foam) are terribly worm down… If you stay there a full week (like we did), you’ll be counting the days to arrive home to sleep in your own bed… CHECK-OUT PROCESS: 3 days after my check-out I receive an email saying there has been a deduction in my deposit claiming “extra cleaning was needed”. I’ve called/texted the property owner for an explanation or proof of check-out conditions and have yet to receive a response (5 days after checkout). Because this owner is not onsite, owner blindly trusts what the cleaning crew is tells him (cleaning crew makes more money the longer the job!), owner does not take pictures as proof, and passes on his extra costs to his guests… At Dolphin Smiles, I would recommend you take pictures/video

Wonderful Cottage at Carillon

I rented this house so my husband and I could have a quiet place away from the rest of our family who was staying a few houses away. First of all, you can tell this house is well built. It feels very solid when you go inside and walk around. There is a lot of attention to detail and every space is utilized. The house was very CLEAN! Very unusual in my experience. There is an outdoor shower which comes in handy. The kitchen is well equipped with an awesome gas stove! Appliances are high end. Everything you need is there if you want to cook. There is a mixer, toaster , pots and pans, and a regular coffee maker and I think a Keurig , but I do not drink coffee so I am not sure. A large table for dining. The living room has a large screen TV and there is a half bath on this level. There is also a nicely furnished patio with a fireplace and grill. The steps to the 2nd level are easier to walk up than I thought they would be from the pictures. There are rails if needed. The second floor master has a comfortable firm but soft king bed. Master shower with a great hand held shower head. There is also a dispenser with shampoo, conditioner and gel. Double sinks which are great. Plenty of closet space. Another TV which is small but adequate. I think the TV's are Direct TV. There is a great porch off the master which I enjoyed. From this porch you can climb 20 steps (great exercise) to another porch which is screened in for gorgeous scenic views of Carillon and the Ocean. There are two more cute small bedrooms across from the master. They each have a closet. There is a full bed in one room and twins in the other. Per my nephews, the beds were great. The twin room has a small balcony. This 2nd bathroom also has a great shower. The tile is very pretty in both bathrooms. The art in the home is a nice touch. This house is just a few steps away from the pool that has the Jacuzzi. You have two ways to get to the beach. The beach chairs that come with the house are closer if you head towards the walkway on the right as you walk out of the front door. That is also the walkway where you take your trash. It is much closer to the Ocean than I thought it would be, maybe a one minute walk to the boardwalk. W hen I arrived at the house, I saw that the owner had texted me to make sure I got in and everything was good! This was an overall wonderful experience. I would love to live there!

Awesome house/host/location

We’ve stayed at multiple houses in Carillon over the last 15 years. This is definitely one of our favorites and we will be back! Great location—close to the beach walker and one of the 3 pools. The 3rd story look out has amazing views and Mark was awesome to work with! And I must mention it was SUPER clean! Thank you for a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Perfect family beach house!

Dolphin Smiles was set up perfectly for our family of six. Carillon is a great beachside community nestled in a wonderful, quiet location. Truly a hidden gem. The beach was less than a two minute walk and the nearest pool was even closer. Our favorite spot in the house was the unique cupola. Beautiful sunset views from up top! The home was super clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Mark was a fantastic host with excellent communication. We’re already planning our return trip to Dolphin Smiles!

Stay at Carillon Beach

Good, clean property in a great location, just a few steps from the beach without being right on the beach. Easy communication with the host when we needed a few things. Overall great trip!

Relative proximity to Atlanta and other major airports. I've traveled quite extensively and I've yet to discover more pristine beaches. Quiet beach area but never lacking in fun activities.
