We had an excellent stay in Poughquag!! The cabin is cozy and well-appointed with a great kitchen, and the property is beautiful. We enjoyed being in such a secluded, peaceful spot and exploring the trails with our dog. Although we were only a short drive from lots of cute towns we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin because we loved it so much. Hope to return to see it in another season!

Beautiful property, great interior, lovely upgrades. Host helped us enjoy our stay by recommending restaurants and identified places to hike around the properties. Wifi was excellent and shower was a treat.

Beautiful cabin! Absolutely clean and stunning and brand new inside.I read other reviews about it- but all I can say itā€¦ maybe these people didnā€™t fully take in that itā€™s a *cabin*in*the*woods*?So- if youā€™re excited about a gorgeous space in nature, this is it.Great for an artist retreat, too!

The cabin was awesome, exactly as the pictures. Very cute and cozy. We stayed for a few days for my sonā€™s third birthday. The weather was not great, lots of rain. We still had a nice time. There was lots of space inside the cabin to play, and we were able to explore the woods once the rain died down. The scenery was beautiful! The cabin had everything we needed to cook. The host was very responsive with our questions.

Perfect Getaway

My son and I loved getting away to this beautiful spot. We couldnā€™t have asked for a more calm and serene spot to spend a long weekend. Weā€™ll be back this summer!

Had a great time with my wife and my dog Koda. Very peaceful and relaxing at the cabin. Saw some deers passing by and Koda had a good time running on the trails. Cabin was nice and cozy. David the host was great with his communications about the property. Would definitely recommend staying there again.

Not Quite What I Expected

This was a quick getaway for my husband and I. When we first drove up we thought we were in the wrong place. The exterior of the cabin and yard is a little rough and is a work in progress. The interior is as pictured in the listing. There are also trails as listed. As far as things to do around the cabin there is not a lot. You are situated inside a residential neighborhood and a grocery store, restaurants and the closest town is about 20 minutes. Overall it is a beautiful cabin tucked away in the woods. If you are looking for true peace and quiet and country living this is the place.

Donā€™t let the humble exterior of this little cabin fool you, because when you step through the front door, you walk into light, space, and an airy flow that is as soothing as it is exciting. We arrived at sunset, delighted to find the cabin spotless, the air inside fresh and clean. We enjoyed how the light within shifted with the setting sun and then again with sunrise the next day. We had our morning coffees on the front deck to the sounds of nothing but birdsong, a whispery breeze, and leaves falling and touching down on the ground. It was so quiet, we could actually hear them landing. The trails around the property are fun to explore. We hiked up to the ridge and were stunned by the breathtaking panorama of the mountains in the distance and Clove Valley below. Yes, the property is in a residential neighborhood, but once you turn into its driveway, youā€™re pulled into a forested universe that feels remote and wild. It was a very relaxing, restorative few days for us there.

Cozy retreat cabin

David was a wonderful hostā€”he got in touch with us right away on the day of our trip and provided all the information we needed to get in and settled with no stress. The cabin was clean, cozy, and just the right size for two or three people.The space is minimalist, but so thoughtfully done and truly beautiful. If youā€™re looking for a peaceful spot to relax or a base for hiking, this is it. I especially loved that there was no TVā€”it really encouraged us to unplug. It feels remote enough to be quiet and relaxing, but still close enough to everything you might need.My boyfriend and I had a great time and a really positive experience. Weā€™ll definitely be coming back!

City slickers saw Bear poo

The house is super cute, a bit bare bones, exactly as pictured, just a quiet space to lay your head and read a book. The property is huge, with a lot of walking trails. We were extremely excited to discover we saw bear poop on one of our walks. Families of deer would be munching on the grass around the house. It was nice.

The property was not suitable for a long-term stay. There were too many issues that the host was unable to rectify in a short period of time. We drove from Texas to enjoy a summer in NY so sadly, summer 2025 was a bust. Thereā€™s only one reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1, and thatā€™s because the host meant well, but he either needs to never rent long-term or to make some significant repairs & improvements if he does. He also needs to learn how to use the VRBO portal because due to his error, our refund was held up for almost 2 weeks.

The most amazing time my dog and I have ever had

Davidā€™s cabin in the woods was an absolutely incredible experience for me and my dog, Hudson. We experienced the best of the Hudson Valley. The woods, forest and property surrounding the cabin are endless and limitless. Hudson had the absolute time of her life, sniffing and exploring the property for hours, chasing deer, and relishing her good fortune. Hudson is an older dog, so I was both thrilled and thankful that I could give her this amazing experience. It was tremendous for me as well, walking peacefully and contemplative through the woods, climbing the mountain on the property, and enjoying the incredible views of the Hudson Valley. I am so thankful that I had this experience, even if it was just for three days. I would love to return in the fall. This was a necessary break from the brutal heat of a South Florida summerā€¦..it fulfilled me.
