Buttercup Cottage, Historic Saluda, NC. Cozy Mountain Retreat

Cool breezes in the summer and the gorgeous color in the fall are just two of the reasons to vacation at Buttercup Cottage in Historic Saluda, NC. This cozy mountain cottage has 2 bedrooms (one with king bed and one with two twins), one bath, living room with gas fireplace, Satellite TV, DVR, free WiFi, and fully equipped dine-in kitchen. There is also a large deck with gas grill for 'al fresco' dining. And we are a non-smoking facility.
The cottage is fully heated and air conditioned and is available all year round. All linens are provided and there is a washer and dryer. Canine friendly. In summer guests have access to owner's large vegetable garden on site.
Hendersonville, NC only 10 minutes away. Easy access to I-26 makes Asheville, NC and Greenville/Spartanburg only a 45 minute trip. Biltmore estate, many excellent restaurants, theater plus outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, zip line, river floating right in Saluda. Many trails including waterfalls close by.
New (summer 2018) furniture in living room, including pull-out sofa and flat screen TV.




We are pet friendly with prior notice (dogs only please) and are happy to welcome furry guests. We ask that they be on flea treatment and be up-to-date on shots.
Only a few minutes walk to Main Street, Saluda where you can find restaurants, unique craft shops, antiques, a wine store, bakery, ice cream, a grocery/butcher and an old fashioned general store.
Only 10 minutes to Hendersonville and 35 minutes to Asheville. Easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, DuPont Forest, Pisgah Forest, Flat Rock Playhouse, hiking, kayaking, tubing makes this the perfect home base for your vacation. And there's a new Zipline right here in Saluda. 15 minutes to Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).
Great for one or two couples, family or for a girl's getaway.

The host was over the top amazing. Any and everything we needed was available. Loved the surrounding area. Plenty of places to walk our dog. Garden was amazing. Host provided many staple items ie: bread, eggs, juice, milk and homemade blackberry jam. We loved our stay.

Great getaway!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage.Very cozy cottage and our hosts were the BEST!Clean and perfect for our family of 4. The gardens, flowers and fruit trees begged for you to sit and relax in the mornings and evenings. Close to adventures and downtown Saluda. We will definitely return!

Sweet cottage owned/managed by sweet couple

My husband, adult daughter and I recently stayed at Buttercup Cottage along with our 2 dogs. Marti and Dan go above and beyond to welcome you and provide fresh produce from their garden as well as additional breakfast goodies. Location was perfect for us, as we were primarily there to meet other family members in Saluda. I gave a 4 rating for the overall category, primary because the cottage could use some updating. Regardless, we would stay there again.

Sweet Buttercup Cottage

Sweet Buttercup Cottage!! This is lovely place to relax and enjoy the surrounding historic and cultural locations surrounding Saluda. The Cottage is so well stocked with food preparation needs and serving ware. It is a pleasure to make meals to enjoy at the inviting dining nook or on the deck outside. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and the same can be said for the hamlet of Saluda. We fully intend to return, as there is so much to enjoy after a restful nightā€™s sleep nestled in the Buttercup. Thanks so much dear Hosts!!

Home Away from Home

Perfect cottage in the mountains! We felt very comfortable for our weekend of rest and relaxation. Bed was comfy and breakfast items were so appreciated. We enjoyed walking around the property with Lou, our Boykin Spaniel. Hope to visit again in the near future!

Buttercup Cottage is clean, neat , and cozy. Not only did the host leave us delicious breakfast items to start our days (juice, milk, eggs , butter, bakery bread and homemade jam!), but also a fabulous tabulated notebook with catagories including how to set heat/air, work the tv, restaurants in Saluda, medical care, pet care, local grocery sources and sources in nearby Hendersonville: all with thorough directions! This property also includes a great deck area, so peaceful. I highly recommend Buttercup Cottage to anyone who wants to spend a cozy local place in Saluda, NC.

Great stay in Buttercup Cottage!

Charming cottage in a charming town. The cottage was extremely well equipped including eggs, milk, juice, bread and jam. Everything was very clean and the simplified check-in process was very easy. The location was fantastic as it's walking distance to downtown Saluda and a very easy pretty, drive to adjacent towns. Asheville and Hendersonville are easy to get to for day trips. We also found very nice hiking trails in the vicinity. The hosts offered helpful recommendations for dining and provided extensive information on the surrounding area. We hope to return in several months to see the extensive gardens surrounding the cottage. Great stay!

Pleasant stay at Buttercup Cottage

First of all, thank you Dan & Marti for making our stay a wonderful experience. We greatly appreciated your understanding and accommodation of our sensitivities to cleaning chemicals and scented products. It was also quite a treat to have access to your garden. We made some great stir fry with your vegies and herbs. Everything was nicely labeled and organized, with plenty of hooks for hats and jackets. This is a great location and a quick 10 minute or so walk to downtown. Thanks again!

Originally purchased for a summer getaway. When we retired to Saluda and built our new home, we kept the cottage for family and friends to use when visiting. Later, we decided to open it for short time rentals, so we spruced it up, bought new beds and here we are.

Short easy walk to Main Street Saluda.
Located in a quiet neighborhood, on a dead-end street, we are one of the few truly dog friendly accommodations in Saluda....and we have a yard.
Many of our guests love the deck where they can enjoy their morning coffee or a cocktail while grilling at dinner time. Deck is designed with gate to allow furry guests free access with their humans. We have an extensive summer garden and share the bounty with our guests...they are welcome to pick their own fruits and veggies...can't get fresher than that.
