A Step Away: The Rendezvous–All New, Walk to Town

Our neighborhood abuts the Peterson Nature Preserve and our home can be rented with (if available) one/both of our adjacent two bedroom homes (a fence with a gate separates the homes) if more space is desired. Downtown Saugatuck is a short walk away and Douglas and Oval Beach are easy drives. Enjoy all of the amenities provided indoors and outdoors. All "A Step Away" guests receive a discount when shopping our local store during their stay. Lastly, we're dog friendly (w/approval & fee).

Our “A Step Away” home—your ideal “Rendezvous” getaway—has so much to offer: location, amenities, and hospitality. This single-story home features a fully renovated interior, a fenced yard with landscaping, and easy on-site parking for a couple of vehicles.

Inside, you’ll find comfortable accommodations for two, thoughtfully styled with décor that reflects the charm of Saugatuck, Douglas, and the local beach and arts scenes. The home is perfect for a variety of travelers—from solo adventurers to couples. Whether you’re traveling alone, with a partner, or renting both this home and one of the adjacent two-bedroom homes next door, you’ll enjoy a space designed for carefree living.

The home includes one king bedroom, and the brand-new kitchen with a dining island flows into a vaulted-ceiling living room. Large windows and a glass door offer views of the patios and gardens. The living room opens directly onto a pergola-covered patio, complete with seating and a propane grill—perfect for relaxing or entertaining. The bathroom is also new and includes a shower (no bathtub).

We believe “A Step Away” is the perfect place to enjoy your Saugatuck escape—whether you choose just this home or pair it with one of our neighboring two-bedroom properties.

As a guest of “A Step Away,” you’re invited to stop by our home décor, clothing, and jewelry store—Kindel & Company—located at 241 Culver St. in downtown Saugatuck. We’re happy to provide personalized recommendations for local attractions, dining, and shopping (we call it our “lite” concierge service). Plus, all guests receive an exclusive in-store discount!

I almost don’t want to leave such a glowing review—I’d love to keep this hidden gem to myself! The property is absolutely beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully decorated with a modern touch. It feels surprisingly spacious and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. The private yard and cozy fire pit are perfect for relaxing, and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. The shower is incredible—one of the highlights of the stay. I truly loved everything about this place and can’t wait to come back.

Great little place

While small, it was very very nice. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is an easy 15 minute walk to town and convenient to other amenities in the area. Highly recommended!

We loved this VRBO!! From the moment we drove up to the property is sat privately tucked back from the road, the landscape and yard is pretty and charming. Inside, we were greeted by an impeccably clean and tastefully decorated house. They provided the necessities and it was furnished with upscale personal touches, ie., body wash, soaps, shampoos, dish soaps and laundry detergent. A pristine bathroom and kitchen made us feel like we’re at home. It is conveniently located within walking distance to town. And so close to Holland and Douglas for more great shopping and dining. We will certainly be going back and staying here again. We'd easily give ten stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!!

Beautiful property

Property is absolutely gorgeous and private, our jaws dropped when we walked in. Quality furnishings throughout the house. Most places we stay, the furnishings look like they are from a secondhand store. This place is top notch. Check-in was easy, owners are very responsive in their communications. Fenced in back yard was perfect for our dogs. Easy walk to town and located in a very quiet neighborhood. There wasn't anything lacking for our stay. Make sure you visit the owner's store in town, also high quality and very inviting.

Lovely residence for a couple or single. Gorgeous decorating and everything you could need. Host was also great communicator and generous. It is also a nice walk or a very short drive to all Saugatuck highlights!

Wonderful!!

Perfect house for a couple with 2 small fur babies! It was everything we needed and all with a small fenced in yard. We could walk to town or take our doggies on a beautiful walk in the wooded area. This house sets the bar high for a doggie friendly home! And Richard and Christian were wonderful host! We will be back!!

Great location and beautiful home!

This stay was perfect. The house is the perfect size for our family. They supplied us with a pack n' play for our son which was perfect. He slept in the living room and the shades were thick enough to block the morning sun, so he wouldn't get woken up by the light. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you may need and the Keurig machine was a really nice treat! Thank you for that! The decor is beautiful and the overall feel of the home was very cozy. We loved having the fenced in backyard for our dog and to run around a bit! The front patio having the table and chairs was very nice, too. It was a quick 15 minute walk to the downtown area and we really enjoyed exploring and walking around. Parking is very easy downtown, too, as it's all free parking. It was the perfect weekend getaway! The hosts were responsive and even checked in on us, which was very thoughtful. I highly recommend staying here!

Perfect bungalow

Beautiful property, quiet and lovely location, and just a couple blocks from all the restaurants and shops of Saugatuck. We had a lovely stay. Enjoyed the outdoor table and chairs for playing cards.
