"Crab House" is a pet friendly, oceanfront Outer Banks vacation rental home that was been fully renovated to provide large living areas. This great oceanfront property is located at 4123 North Virginia Dare Trail in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina at Mile Post 3 3/4.
There is an extra-large oceanfront deck with deck chairs and exceptional, expansive ocean views. House features large open great room area with dining space for 10 people. New kitchen with all new appliances. This home is elevated but offers one level living .
On the oceanfront side of this home, there are 2 Bedrooms and 1 full bath. Bedroom #1 has a Queen Bed; Bedroom #2 has a Queen bed for exceptional ocean views. Bedroom #3 has 1 Single bed and 1 double bed and Bedroom #4 has 1 Single Bed and 1 Double Bed on the street side of home. New laundry room has been added with new appliances. This is the perfect beach family vacation home where DOGS ARE PERMITTED-2 PET MAXIMUM. Pet fee is $250 per pet. The turnover day for this home is Saturday.
Extras: 5 TVs, 4 Parking Spaces, charcoal grill, enclosed outside shower, ceiling fans, washer/dryer, internet, deck furniture, 6 ceiling fans, lobster pot and iron/ironing board.

I was very impressed with the cleanliness and how well supplied the house was. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. I stayed in one prior pet friendly house and was not at all happy. I was hesitant about trying again but you would never know there was ever any pet in this house,The owner is very easy to contact and very helpful, (wi-fi went out and we found it was an area problem, couple of hours). Text her and she responds and is helpful and pleasant.The deck overlooking the beach is great, so close to water you don't need to drag chairs to beach, just sit on deck with great seating and umbrellas. Nice side yard area to hang out and let children play also.We will be back!

Absolutely beautiful beach home with an upscale yet welcoming feel. The property was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and had everything needed for a relaxing and restorative stay. The ocean views, peaceful atmosphere, and comfortable outdoor spaces made it easy to completely unwind.One of my favorite parts was spending time on the deck listening to the waves and enjoying the cooler coastal weather. The home felt both luxurious and cozy at the same time — the kind of place where you immediately settle in and never want to leave.The host was wonderful, responsive, and genuinely thoughtful throughout the entire stay. Everything was exactly as described, and the home was exceptionally clean and well maintained.I also really appreciated how dog friendly the property was. Traveling with a large dog can sometimes be stressful, but this home and location made it easy and enjoyable. It was the perfect place for long beach walks, relaxing evenings, and peaceful mornings by the ocean.Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet, high-end coastal escape that still feels warm, comfortable, and personal. I can’t wait to go back!

We enjoyed our stay overall and will say the home is great for families traveling with young children and dogs.Pros:Right on the beach and no public beach access nearby so great access and more private.Open concept and one floor, very kid friendly Deck was a great hangout spot, especially during baby's afternoon naps. You still feel like you are on the beach. Loved the shower spout by the stairs coming off the beach, very useful.Kitchen was well stockedLoved that the deck could be closed off Owner was responsive and got us in early for check in which was a very nice surprise. Cons:Queen beds were pretty uncomfortable.House had a bit of a dog smell when it was raining or the humidity was up. It was easy to air out with opening windows or use one of the scented candles. Deck had some maintenance upkeep needed, like rusty nails needing to be pushed down further. Probably not an issue for most but was a little more concerning for us just because of having a toddler. But understand it's early in the season and being right on the water everything outside takes more of a beating. Wi-Fi was a little confusing. The name recently changed and is not the name of the house any longer and the name is not listed in the check in materials or within the residence. So I had to call the Internet company myself to resolve which required a 15 minute hold as the owner did not have the info when I texted. Worked fine though once we got logged in.

Caitlin thanks for your review which was mostly positive. The Thursday before your arrival you requested a change of date because the weather looked like rain, I was happy to see you and your family enjoying the beach as we only had a couple of thunderstorms and a change of date with such short notice was not feasible. The queen mattresses were replaced in 2024 and no one else has never complained about them. Perhaps the "wet dog" odor you mentioned was your own 2 dogs that you brought with you on vacation! My internet and TV provider is Silicon travel and they are very responsive and many of my quests including the guest previous to your stay actually worked from the home with no problems. The information for sign in is clearly stated on the refrigerator and on the place card at the work station desk, I'm sorry that you needed to call in but as you said the issue that you were having was resolved immediately. As you mentioned the views and the beach was a wonderful not crowded experience which is my goal for anyone coming to my beach houses for vacation!

One of the Best on the Beach!

Our whole crew gave this property a 10/10. It was the perfect setup for two families. The house was super clean, the kitchen was very well-stocked, and the furniture was comfortable. Outside, the deck can't be beat -- plenty of seating and right on the beach. And the beach in front was empty since there was no public beach access nearby. The location is perfect, as it's close to shopping, dining, and all the fun beach activities available in OBX. Terry is a very nice person who was very responsive to any questions we had. Can't wait to go back!

Perfectly perfect!

House was as described and even better in person. The common living area was fantastic for my family and was perfect space to play games while we waited out the rain! Owner was quick to reply any time I needed . Will definitely stay here again.

Great location

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect--right on the beach so only a few steps to the beach. It worked perfectly for our family as we wanted to explore many locations from the south to the north of OBX. Restaurants, activities and grocery store all nearby as well. Super clean and a well-appointed kitchen.

Excellent View

My wife & I recently stayed at Crab House. The house was spacious and clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The ocean view from the deck was fantastic and the location was great for restaurants & shopping. The property owner was very accommodating & helped to make our stay stress free.

Absolutely stunning property. Everything you need for a beach vacation

Our stay at this beach house was absolutely incredible. We felt right at home as soon as we opened up the front door. Plenty of space in the kitchen, washer and dryer, plenty of beds, 2 bathrooms, Great space on the deck and just a couple steps to the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anybody looking in the area.

Wonderful cottage right on the beach

Cottage was perfect, clean and ready for a great stay. Couldn’t ask for a better location. Would definitely stay here again. Needs no improvement. Great for family and pets. Loved it!
