Luxurious Wilderness New Log Home Borders Bwca, National Park

Boat or snowmobile access only 2 miles from the end of the road. Pull up to your private dock and you are minutes by trail or boat to Boundary Waters Canoe Area ( one of the most pristine wilderness canoeing in the world), Voyageurs National Park ( the only accessible by boat National park with hundreds of miles of interconnected waterways for boating or snowmobiling) and the Canada with the wilderness water park Quentico.

Some of the best fishing in the north country can be found on Crane lake and the many interconnected lakes. Walleye are plentiful along with Lake trout, bass and crappie. Some of the hotspots on the lake is right off your dock in your own private wilderness retreat. Take your catch and grill on your deck as you enjoy the plentiful wildlife. Pick blueberry's out your back door. Take a short hike to the top of the cliffs to great views of the wilderness area. Wildlife abound with bald eagle's, deer and grouse , birding, mushrooming, and unspoiled wilderness.

This is a brand new 3100sq. Ft log home build 2 miles from the end of the road. Boat or snowmobile access only. Detail has been put in to present to you a very upscale vacation while you explore of one of the worlds great treasures Voyageurs National Park and the Boundary Waters Canoe area. Use this as your home base. A place for the family to gather to share their adventures of today.
This Log home will accept its first renters starting May1 2012. Their is another cabin available also to rent if you have a large group or family reunion's ( Home Away # 957675).. The inside pictures will be loaded by March 1, 2012. so you can see the luxuries provided. A full size pool table is in the loft game room. Crafted furniture will give the comforts of fine living. Feel free to call to get specific details about furnishing.
Rental boats and snowmobiles are available if needed. Give a call and I will arrange it with a local supplier.
Good solid large crib dock is provided for boat tie up.

New exciting adventure

Was a great time spent with family. Caught a few fish and did some exploring. Was a great location and definately an unique experience staying at a place that is boat access in only.

Beautiful lake home with all the amenities. Perfect location for us to fish on Crane, Sand Point, and Namakan. My only suggestion would be a handrail along the stairs leading up to the deck from the dock. We had a great time. Thanks Gary!

Great Vacation Home for Family

We had an amazing time at this great property. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 teens. Plenty of supplies and amenities. Great outdoor space to enjoy the lake and wilderness. Excellent lake with great fishing! Highly recommend!

Lovely Trip #4 at Gary’s Lake HomeWe’ve had another wonderful stay at Gary’s beautiful lake home. The property offers stunning views, cozy charm, and unique architectural character—especially the vaulted ceilings and warm natural light that make the space feel so inviting.That said, this year we did notice some changes in cleanliness compared to past visits. We found a few items left behind in the master bedroom and bathroom (clothing, hair ties, even trash from a previous guest), and we also had some issues with mice getting into food and leaving droppings in drawers. In past years, traps were provided, but we didn’t find any this time. I’d recommend storing dry goods in sealed containers if you stay here.The furniture and mattresses are beginning to show their age, but the home overall remains comfortable, cozy, and truly special. Despite the challenges this visit, we still love returning here and hope to see a bit more attention to maintenance and cleanliness for future guests.

Gary’s showcase “cabin” is perfect

Our extended family (Grandma, Grandpa, our five children, their four spouses, and eight of our ten grandchildren stayed in this and two other of Gary’s cabins and had an unforgettable time over Memorial weekend 2024: boating, fishing, great decks and docks, satellite, more beds than I could count, great views, pool table, lake maps, handy five minutes from the nearest marina, great kitchen and BBQ facilities, a simply wonderful dream vacation! Can’t wait to stay at Gary’s cabins again!

Absolutely beautiful

We spent three nights in this beautiful home and would definitely go back! It was the perfect blend of luxury and that rustic "up north" feel. The views of the lake are gorgeous, and we had beautiful weather for our entire stay. We did lots of swimming off the dock, fishing, boating, tubing and relaxing on the deck. There was great fishing right off the dock - we caught several nice sized smallmouth bass that made a scrumptious dinner! Crane Lake is very pretty, and you can boat for miles on the interconnected lakes and channels. One note of caution - be sure to wear water shoes on the rocks, they are very sharp in places and one of our kids seriously injured his foot.

Amazing cabin

Our stay at the cabin was amazing. It was even better then advertised. The master bedroom came full with a whirlpool bath tub and heated floors in the bathroom. My fiancé and i at the time rented the cabin for our wedding party as we just got married in crane lake, the location is beautiful good fishing and swimming right off the dock from the cabin. Our wedding party loved the cabin we spent the days swimming and playing pool in the loft of the cabin. It was the perfect accommodation for a small wedding. We had a blast!!! It made our wedding week amazing my husband and I would do it all again. The owners are extremely nice and personable greeted us with a bottle of champagne and a dozen roses. The cabin and its location are truly amazing.

Beautiful location

The house is on a beautiful little hill right on the waters with some fish biting right off the dock. The house was advertised to have three bedrooms and a loft with bunk beds and a futon, but in reality, the house has two master bedrooms and a two-level loft without locking doors. In the top loft, there is a twin/queen bunk bed and two twin beds. In the bottom loft with the pool table, there is a double futon. The description in the rooms & beds section does a better job of explaining this (e.g., gameroom loft and upper loft), but this could have been clearer. The gameroom loft doesn't have curtains (and it's on the way to the upper loft), so it's challenging to sleep there in the summers when the sun comes up at 5. We expected three bedrooms with locking doors for privacy. Also, technically, there are no hot tubs, but there is a jetted tub in one of the master bathrooms. There was supposed to be free wifi but we found out it is limited to 2 GB per week only a few days before our trip. The internet was not unavailable the week we stayed, which we understand was not the fault of our host and we believe Gary tried every avenue to try to get us internet. We understand some of these misaligned expectations are partially just due to how VRBO works and maybe outdated descriptions. The fire pit and boulders outside were the highlight for our family. Kids loved scrambling safely around the house and making s'mores.

This property is exactly as described. It has a great deck and comfy beds, a nice dinner table for the six of us to enjoy our walleye dinners. We had a wonderful stay.

Fantastic getaway in paradise

Amazing location-- beautiful sunrises and convenient to Voyageurs and BWCA. Voyageurs is a true gem and well worth the visit and this location is a great base for exploring the park. The house was great: we had plenty of space for our extended family and the large table sat us all for meals and games. We brought multiple kayaks and paddleboards (along with a pontoon boat) and there was plenty of room on the lakefront to store and use our toys. Only note on the house as stated in the listing-- the 3rd bedroom doesn't have a door so it may not work for some people/couples. Gary was great communicating throughout the lead-up and our stay. House was super clean and well set-up. Location was close to Handbergs Marina (which was a great place to rent the pontoon-- very friendly and helpful). NOTE: Crane Lake is pretty remote (which we love) but there aren't a lot of amenities/stores in the area-- we brought all meals in with us.

Excellent Getaway

Our family group of 6 had a fantastic time on Crane Lake. The cabin is beautiful and well-appointed. The pool table was a hit with our young adult kids. The lake is peaceful. The fishing was pretty good - we were there in late July so not really the best timing for fishing, but we had one walleye supper. You can also fish right off the dock. We even saw an otter swimming by one evening. Hike to Vermilion Gorge was pretty. Also highly recommend Handberg Marina for boat rental. We will definitely be back!

A lovely home to explore Voyager’s NP

We had an amazing time at Gary’s, and everyday was an adventure. A huge storm came through the first night and we lost power for 18+ hours; Gary was great about communicating with us throughout the process of power being restored. The house was fantastic, well stocked and beautiful views throughout. I have never stayed at a property with so many towels and supplies available. The upstairs loft room was warm and stuffy even with fans and air conditioning, but it was also VERY hot throughout our stay. We have cell service through Verizon and had great service the entire stay. We had a great time fishing off the dock and watched the sunrise from the dock most mornings. We rented our boat at Handbergs Marina and cannot say enough wonderful things about their staff and service. An incredible experience and would love to come back in the fall ( when the mosquitoes are less plentiful!)
