Escape to our secluded cabin on our 6,000-acre ranch in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, guests can enjoy access to three private lakes (bring your own kayak/paddleboard) and miles of rugged ranch trails, perfect for hiking and riding. Our property offers a true backcountry experience, so please know that while our trails are maintained, guests should expect natural terrain and a more rugged experience than what you would experience at a state park.
Nestled on our family-owned 6,000-acre ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, our newly renovated cabin offers the perfect escape for outdoor enthusiasts or those seeking a peaceful retreat. The cabin itself is designed for comfort and relaxation, featuring a cozy queen-sized bed, bunk beds (full/twin), pull out couch, a spa-like bathroom, and a kitchen equipped with a mini fridge (no freezer), ice maker, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate burner, kettle, and a Keurig coffee machine. The cabin also has a Blackstone and charcoal/wood burning grill in the shared outdoor space. Please note that we do our best to supply propane and firewood, but always suggest guests bring their own in the event that we are not stocked!
Please note that due to seasonal hunting operations, the ranch is closed during certain times of the year to preserve wildlife patterns and support responsible land management. If the cabin is showing available on Airbnb, all hiking and riding trails are open for guest use during your stay. If dates appear unavailable, it means either the cabin is booked or the property is closed for the season. Our calendar is always kept up to date, and guests are encouraged to check availability in advance when planning their visit.
Additional Accommodations:
We have a second cabin located adjacent to this one that comfortably sleeps two guests. If you’re interested in booking both cabins for a larger group, please let me know.
Shopping & Groceries:
Depending on your route, Uvalde or Kerrville will likely be the last towns you pass through with major stores such as Walmart, H-E-B, and Walgreens.
Camp Wood is the closest town to the ranch and offers a family-owned gas station, Get-N-Go, as well as Family Dollar. Both are convenient for essentials, but we recommend stocking up before arriving.
Nearby Attractions:
Chalk Bluff – Approximately 30 minutes away. Most of the drive time is spent exiting the ranch (about 20 minutes), with the remainder on the highway.
Nueces River – About 15–20 minutes away. Our county road crosses two sections of the river, making it a quick and scenic trip from the cabin.
Garner State Park – Roughly 50 minutes to 1 hour away. Although it may appear close on the map, the rolling hills between the ranch and the Leakey/Concan area make for a longer drive. The route takes you through Camp Wood and along the famous Twisted Sisters, often considered one of the most scenic drives in Texas.
Other Things to Note:
1. The kitchen is equipped with a small toaster oven, mini fridge (no freezer), hot plate burner, Keurig Coffee machine, ice maker, and microwave.
2. The cabin is fully fenced, making it a great option for guests traveling with pets. We do ask that pets not be left outside unattended.
3. Guests will drive approximately 8 miles on a well-maintained caliche road to reach the cabin. A 4x4 vehicle is not required, but heavy rain can make certain sections muddy.
4. Cell service can be spotty throughout the ranch. Depending on your provider, you may have little to no service while exploring.
