Beach Apartment Near Kota Kinabalu

A beautifully renovated boutique apartment on the ground floor of a resort development 30 km outside Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Far from the usual tourist areas, it is only a 3 mins walk to a stunning tropical beach, with barely another person on it.

This apartment is designed and furnished with the discerning traveller in mind. It is done to the highest standards, and is fully air-conditioned.

It is ideally a 2-person apartment, with a king-sized bed, and subtle (and adjustable) lighting throughout.

The kitchen and bathroom are modern and attractive. The living room is comfortable, and has a flat-screen TV and DVD/Bluetooth player available for guests, together with a music player with connections for both Apple & Android phones.

There is a second bedroom, which will easily transform from a study desk into a single bed.

We supply a detailed welcome pack, with full details of local places of interest and tourist spots.

The apartment is located 25 km from Kota Kinabalu town centre, and some 20 mins from the airport (outside of rush hour timings). The local town of Papar is some 7 km away in the other direction.

The development does not have fixed telephone lines, therefore no broadband. However, we can supply a WiFi dongle which plugs into an electrical socket to provide good wifi coverage within the apartment.

Although we supply a flat-screen 32'' TV, there is no satellite signal available. We recommend that guests bring DVDs (or buy local pirate ones!). Otherwise, of course, you can link it to your laptop with the supplied HDMI cable.

The apartment is in a resort development almost entirely occupied by local people, with virtually no tourists.
They are polite, helpful and friendly almost without exception - and most of them speak English. But it should be emphasized that this is not a tourist area, and visitors will be entirely immersed in the local culture.

There is a laundry, with several shops and eating places within a few minutes walk. Food stalls selling fresh local fruits and vegetables are open every day at the entrance. A large supermarket (with a pharmacy) is some 10 mins drive towards Papar, and all services are available in this busy market town, including ATMs.

The beach is some 3 mins walk from the apartment. It is around 3 km long, soft white sand, and safe shelving swimming off the beach. It is fringed by palm trees, and rarely has anyone else on it. The water is very warm, usually around 30 degrees.

The development also has 2 fresh water swimming pools, which are very popular with the locals around sunset when the temperatures go down.

Although there are buses, minibuses and taxis frequently passing along the main road, guests should ideally hire either a car or motorcycle in KK. Grab is also available, but waiting time can be long. We can give guests links for pre-booking.

We can also pick you up from the airport for a small fee of RM45 if pre-booked, or arrange a private pickup should we not be available.
