Relax on the bluffs of the Ohio River in the Shawnee National Forest. Take in nature at its best! 15 minutes to Garden of the Gods, Rim Rock, and Pounds Hollow, and only a little farther to Jackson Falls, Burden Falls, and Bell Smith Springs. Explore the Shawnee National Forest by day and relax each evening with a front-row seat to a river view and open sky. After a day of adventure take a long soak in the jacuzzi tub!

The Deluxe Suite is in a quad unit with private entrance & shared back deck overlooking the Ohio River. Suite is complete with 2 queen beds, kitchenette with essentials, living area, & full bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower.

Pets are allowed with a nightly fee of $10!

Amazing view. Quiet and serene. Cabin was a convenient location to the hiking we planned. Would have preferred a much firmer bed, otherwise a good stay.

The grounds are beautiful. The property is rundown, but the managers are slowly renovating and are open to suggestions. The view of the river from the shared back deck was lovely, but our experience was spoiled by an inconsiderate guest chain smoking upwind from us.

We took a chance to go to southern illinois because we never went to Shawnee forest. It was a lovely stay. The ybit was wonderful and set on a cliff above the Ohio river. Kitchen and bathroom were great. Great water pressure in shower. Back dwck was great to sit and relax at in the night time. Nice fire put out back. Was more a wonderful place to stay than doing acticities on site. We left to find adventured and activities nearby. It is set perfectly for short drives to the forest or to state parks on the river which we spent the days visiting and exploring the area. Lots of sights to see and places to experience.

This was our first time here and had a fabulous experience. Location right off the Ohio River, walking paths, excellent views, and privacy. Everything we needed to unplug.Wish we had found this place 15 years ago!

We had a great stay. The place was very clean and comfortable. The beds were so nice. Our favorite was sitting out on the deck overlooking the river. It was a peaceful getaway. We were even able to take a short trail down to the river. I highly recommend a stay here.

Fun weekend

This is such a beautiful property. Its right on the river and the firepit outside was awesome. Walking trails and not too far from great hiking! We really enjoyed time. We will be going back and we would definitely recommend this resort!

Location, location, location!

We had a lovely 3 night stay at The San Damiano! We did some hiking in The Shawnee National Forest and chose this on VRBO as it was 25-50 minutes from everything we wanted to see! The location was so gorgeous, we could have spent the entire time on the back porch enjoying the view! Thank you so much, everything was wonderful!
Enjoyed watching the cows across the river graze and wade!
Bring your binoculars!
A flock of white pelican’s gracefully landed in front of us and then float down the river!

Definitely need some updates, which you mentioned. An acess from the balcony going down, instead of going out the front door. Especially when grilling.

We are actively working on updates, and hope to see a lot done within the next year. Unfortunately due to safety and insurance we cant have steps on the back decks, due to the proximity of the bluff. We agree it would be nice to have as well!

On the Ohio River.

Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Simply appointed and has necessities. Quiet area directly on the Ohio River, not far from Garden of the Gods. About thirty minutes from Harrisburg. We drove in and ate at Morello's one day and The BBQ Barn on another day. Both good choices.

Great peaceful getaway

Older but very clean property. All units face the river. I wanted a peaceful atmosphere to reset from a loss. It provided me that. If you love to hike this place provides a great home base. If you want shopping and restaurants it does not. The WiFi was non existent don't know why there was a TV in the room. Great value otherwise.
