The space was perfect for the two of us (and our pup) for a weekend away in Alexandria. The house had everything we needed. The location was great to allow us to venture into Alexandria and the surrounding areas. We very much enjoyed the lake views right outside the back door!

Cabin was cozy and a perfect little get away. Bonus is the garage is heated and was perfect for us to bring in our ice fishing gear to dry out during the night. Hosts were very nice and had great communication.

It’s all great! Just be aware it takes a while for the window AC unit to cool the larger cabin down. A suggestion to the owner would be to have someone turn on the AC the morning before new guests arrive if it’s a really hot day. Everything worked, we had no issues. It’s a great view from the dock in the mornings with a cup of coffee!

The cottage & hut was perfect for our group of 5. Yes, 5! The mattress I slept on was very supportive. A bathroom and a half was an extra bonus since there were 5 of us. And another bonus was the view of the beautiful lake.

It was our second time staying at Cowdry Cabin and met our needs relative to business and pleasure. We appreciate that it is pet friendly and we have yet to bring our pets but hope that will occur next time. Managers are very responsive to calls or texts when help is needed.

Great little cabin

Cabin was as described. Comfortable, clean, well supplied with kitchen necessities, linens, paper products. There were two of us so didn’t use The Hut. Lawn and beach areas could use some attention, but certainly okay. Overall a very nice property.

The Cowdry Cottage was perfect for our stay. Loved sitting in the porch and looking at the lake. Perfect napping spot. I took the canoe out fishing. So fun. Caught a lot of sunfish. The Hut would have been perfect if we would have friends stay. It is so fresh and quaint, quiet spot. Overall would recommend to future guests. Had everything that we needed.

The Cowdry Cottage and Hut are the greatest little find our family has had in a long time! It's exactly as described, charming, quiet and totally relaxing. The main cottage is updated to be super comfortable but still has retained it's mid-century charm. The beds, bathroom, kitchen and living areas were updated and very comfortable. Lake Cowdry is beautiful with, pelicans, loons and ducks floating by that we watched from a new dock with a sitting area on the very end. We started the day with coffee at sunrise and ended with a glass of wine at sunset! Our newly married son and daughter-in-law we with us and loved the privacy of The Hut! It was perfect. A big bonus was the soft water in the cabin, We are originally from the area and try to rent on the lake whenever we come back to visit relatives. We have NEVER had soft water in a cabin before! It's better than most the local hotels! We will definitely be back!

Oh The Views!

Cowdry cabin and Hut worked perfectly for two couples getting away.The cabin to water proximity is perfect and flat.Plenty of and varied outdoor chairs to choose from and the lake is the show. Morning dancing dragonflies, loons and ducks, and spectacular sunsets.Cabin is charming and comfortable, plenty of space to spread out to read and relax or get together for meals and cards.I recommend to others looking for an Alexandria lake front stay. Host was very responsive to any questions and the arrival and departure instructions were easy to follow.Enjoy!

Good for short term stay

Very well equipped, although we had no washcloths and not enough toilet paper. The problems were quickly solved with a phone call. We are older and the front steps were awkward for us. The little narrow step into “the hut” was an easy stumble.

If you love vintage lake living, this is the cute little home for you! It’s quaint, charming, and full of character. One of our favorite features was the lovely sunroom porch — the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee, curl up with a good book, or simply take in the beautiful lake views.Whether you’re visiting Alexandria for a family event or just looking for a relaxing getaway, this is a wonderful place to stay. As with many older lake homes with their own well, you may notice a bit of a smell in the water, but it seemed to lessen with use during our stay.The adorable hut is another great feature, offering extra space and a little more privacy if you’re traveling with family or friends.We brought a small Bluetooth speaker to enjoy some music and a few fun games to play. Otherwise, pretty much everything you need is provided, making it easy to settle in and enjoy your stay.We visited in early October, and the Northern Lights were spectacular! If you’re willing to get up in the middle of the night, you may be rewarded with an unforgettable show in the sky.Overall, this is a charming spot for anyone who appreciates the nostalgia of vintage lake living, beautiful views, and a peaceful getaway!

Marvin, the property manager, provided an easy and smooth check-in and check-out process. He was quick to respond to our questions and addressed issues expeditiously by sending a nearby handyman David who was nice and courteous. Andrew, the owner, provided good communication as well and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring our comfort. This is a quaint old cabin that is perfect for a weekend. The dock is new and we thoroughly enjoying relaxing on it while admiring the little clean lake. The sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking and the loons sang their beautiful songs. The homeowner provided bikes and a canoe that we never used but we thought was a nice touch. The fishing was good with lots of crappies, sunnies and bass. It’s an easy lake to maneuver with a boat. Jet skis were fun to take through tunnels to other lakes. Nevertheless, I don’t believe this cabin is appropriate for a long-term rental as several items need to be addressed for safety and comfort. I was reassured these changes would be made. Overall we enjoyed our stay and think Alexandria has a lot to offer.
